Purpose: The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine the relationship between characteristics of severe ALS patient-caregiver couples and health related quality of life (HRQoL) in family caregivers. Methods: The participants in this study were 89 pairs of ALS patients using ventilators and a family caregiver. The characteristics of the ALS patients and caregivers, Korean-Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Functional Rating Scale-Revised, Zarit Burden Interview and SF-36 were measured in this study. The data were collected from August 2008 to April 2009. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and canonical correlation were used for data analysis. Results: The physical component summary and mental component summary of the HRQoL score for family caregivers were $147.49{\pm}31.63$ and $129.09{\pm}35.83$, respectively. HRQoL for caregivers was related to characteristics of the ALS patient-caregiver couples, such as patient's gender, caregiver's age, gender, marital status, daily time spent in caregiving and burden with one significant canonical variable. The significant variate showed that the lower the age, the time spent in caregiving and the burden of caregivers, the higher the HRQoL of caregivers. Conclusion: The support systems for caregivers considering caregiver characteristics such as demographics and burden should be implemented to improve the HRQoL of caregivers.

Method: This study distributed structured self-reported questionnaires and used the data of 229 couples with 3~5 years child(ren) for an analysis. A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for checking the measurement unity and a structural equation model was performed to reveal the structural relationship using AMOS software. Results: In a structural relationships among work-family balance, resilience, job satisfaction, parenting self-efficacy and happiness, a total of 13 paths appeared significant. The influence of the husband on the wife was more significant than that of the wife on the husband, and resilience was found to have a strong influence on the happiness of wife and husband. Psychotherapy in Korean Medicine is characterized not only by management of mental issues, but also a holistic perspective of the mind and body, which includes physical treatment. In this case report, we describe the efficacy of Korean psychotherapy for couples with physical symptoms of heartache, emotional tension and marital relationships by addressing the challenges at the Mind and Body levels. For the physical treatment of the couple, the wife was treated with a Bunshimgi-Eum and the husband was administered a Cheonwangbosimdan, combined with a psychiatric interview based on Korean Medicine. It involves listening to the couple's story, YiJungBeongi therapy, understanding and learning about vases and defense mechanisms, self-understanding and understanding of the husband through self-understanding and expansion, and husband's understanding of the wife's position, self-interpretation and acceptance. Based on counseling, the couple's personal characteristics and expansion for self-growth, the progress and results of the couple's challenges and relationship improvement in a relatively short period of time are presented. In response, we hope that the evidence based on Korean Psychotherapy supporting the counseling for couples will continue to accumulate. We would like to report and share a few opinions.

The first purpose of this paper was to investigate whether wives' income contributions affect the time spent on housework by dual-earner couples. The second purpose was to investigate period interaction effects on the effect of wives' income contributions. For this, Korean Time Use Survey data 2004-2019 was analyzed. The analysis target was dual-earner couple aged 20-59 years. The dependent variable was time spent on housework, and the analysis method was tobit regression. According to the results, there were three findings: First, there was a U-shaped relation between wives' income contributions and wives' housework time. Second, this relationship became stronger as time progressed. Third, although wives' income contributions positively affected husband housework time, husband housework time was actually zero before 2019. These results demonstrated that not economic perspective, but gender perspective, is more useful for understanding dual-earner couples' division of housework.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the actor and partner effects of the parental sex-role attitude on the parent-child relationship by using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM). Specifically, this study focused on the examination of the actor and partner effects of the parental sex-role attitude in married couples with immigrant women who have children under 5 years old. For the analyses, a total of 5,531 couples who participated in the National Survey on Multi-cultural Families were included and the major findings are as follows. First, the couple's sex-role attitude had a statistically significant actor effect on the parent-child relationship. Parents who were more conscious of gender equality displayed a better parent-child relationship and this effect was greater in the case of the father's attitude than the mother's. Second, the father's sex-role attitude had a statistically significant partner effect on the mother-child relationship, whereas the mother's attitude did not. Third, the couple's actor effects were greater than their partner effects and this means that the personal sex-role attitude has a greater impact on the parent-child relationship than the partners' attitude. The implication and limitations derived from these empirical-scientific database results and related studies in educational program of gender equality attitude for multi-cultural families.
The labor participation rate of women are increasing, especially for married and 30 and over aged women in Korea. Marital role quality might be regarded as an influencing factor on quality of life or health status. The purpose of this study is to investigate influencing factors on quality of marital role for Korean employed women with husband. Data were collected from 323 mothers of students at 3 kindergartens, 2 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 4 high schools in metropolitan area, during 1998.8~1998.12. they were dual-earner couples, and were employed over one year. Response rate is 62.3%. Quality of marital role was measured using Role Quality Scale developed by Park, June & Kim(1999). This instrument is based on Role Rewards and Concerns Scale of Barnett et al.(1993) for quality of marital role. Quality of marital role is made of 19 items and the subfactors are doing households, satisfaction with husband, and relationship with husband The scale has good internal consistency (Cronbach $\alpha$= 0.90). The findings of this study show that age, monthly average household income, husband's occupation, husband's attitude for wife's employment, and the perceived equity for labor division between couples are significant variables for quality of marital role. But education, career years, working hours per week, occupation, monthly average wage, and marital years are not significant. 33.81% of the variance in quality of martal role were accounted for by these variables.
This study investigates the relationships amongst couple conflict, forgiveness, depression, and anxiety according to gender. This study also examined whether forgiveness has a moderating effect on the relationship among couple conflict, depression, and anxiety according to gender. The sample consisted of 263 parents of high school students. The couples reported their level in the Couple Conflict Inventory, Enright Forgiveness Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, and Personality Assessment Inventory. The findings are as follows: 1) Anxiety only significantly differed between husband and wife. 2) Couple conflict positively related to husband and wife depression and anxiety. Forgiveness is negatively related to couple conflict, anxiety, and depression between husband and wife. 3) The moderating effects of forgiveness within couple conflict and depression only showed with the wife. 4) The moderating effect of forgiveness between couple conflict and anxiety was only displayed by the husband. The findings of this study indicate that forgiveness could function as a protective factor for couples who perceive couple conflict, depression, and anxiety. These results suggest implications for couple conflict education and couple counseling according to gender.

This study examined factors that influenced susceptibility to dyadic influences between opposite-gender couples on making apparel purchase decisions. This study focused on main effects of couple identity, product knowledge, clothing involvement and gender, and the interaction effects of gender with other factors for normative and informational influences. A survey was conducted on 155 males and 166 females currently married or in a relationship between the ages of 20 and 50 living in South Korea. For normative influence, the main effects of joint couple identity and clothing involvement (fashion interest, symbolism, and pleasure), and the interaction between gender and clothing involvement (fashion interest) were significant. The interaction between gender and other variables were insignificant. For informational influence, the main effects of partner's product knowledge, pleasure, and gender as well as the interaction effects between fashion interest and gender, and between pleasure and gender were significant. Marketers may find implications from the study results on how couples influence each other in making apparel purchase decisions.
