The aim of this paper concerns with the nonlinear analysis of cable-stayed bridges including the vibration effect of cable stays. Two models for the cable stay system are built up in the study. One is the OECS (one element cable system) model in which one single element per cable stay is used and the other is MECS (multi-elements cable system) model, where multi-elements per cable stay are used. A finite element computation procedure has been set up for the nonlinear analysis of such kind of structures. For shape finding of the cable-stayed bridge with MECS model, an efficient computation procedure is presented by using the two-loop iteration method (equilibrium iteration and shape iteration) with help of the catenary function method to discretize each single cable stay. After the convergent initial shape of the bridge is found, further analysis can then be performed. The structural behaviors of cable-stayed bridges influenced by the cable lateral motion will be examined here detailedly, such as the static deflection, the natural frequencies and modes, and the dynamic responses induced by seismic loading. The results show that the MECS model offers the real shape of cable stays in the initial shape, and all the natural frequencies and modes of the bridge including global modes and local modes. The global mode of the bridge consists of coupled girder, tower and cable stays motion and is a coupled mode, while the local mode exhibits only the motion of cable stays and is uncoupled with girder and tower. The OECS model can only offers global mode of tower and girder without any motion of cable stays, because each cable stay is represented by a single straight cable (or truss) element. In the nonlinear seismic analysis, only the MECS model can offer the lateral displacement response of cable stays and the axial force variation in cable stays. The responses of towers and girders of the bridge determined by both OECS- and MECS-models have no great difference.
An accurate substructural synthesis method including random responses synthesis, frequency-response functions synthesis and mid-order modes synthesis is developed based on rigorous substructure description, dynamic condensation and coupling. An entire structure can firstly be divided into several substructures according to different functions, geometric and dynamic characteristics. Substructural displacements are expressed exactly by retained mid-order fixed-interfacial normal modes and residual constraint modes. Substructural interfacial degree-of-freedoms are eliminated by interfacial displacements compatibility and forces equilibrium between adjacent substructures. Then substructural mode vibration equations are coupled to form an exact-condensed synthesized structure equation, from which structural mid-order modes are calculated accurately. Furthermore, substructural frequency-response function equations are coupled to yield an exact-condensed synthesized structure vibration equation in frequency domain, from which the generalized structural frequency-response functions are obtained. Substructural frequency-response functions are calculated separately by using the generalized frequency-response functions, which can be assembled into an entire-structural frequency-response function matrix. Substructural power spectral density functions are expressed by the exact-synthesized substructural frequency-response functions, and substructural random responses such as correlation functions and mean-square responses can be calculated separately. The accuracy and capacity of the proposed substructure synthesis method is verified by numerical examples.

Three dimensional structures of detonation wave propagating through a square-shaped duct were investigated using computational method and parallel processing. Inviscid fluid dynamics equations coupled with $variable-{\gamma}$ formulation and simplified one-step Arrhenius chemical reaction model were analysed by MUSCL-type TVD scheme and four stage Runge-Kutta time integration. The unsteady computational results in three dimension show the detailed mechanism of transverse mode and diagonal mode of detonation wave instabilities resulting same cell length but different cell width in smoked-foil record.

The effect of liquid level on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a partially liquid-filled circular cylindrical shell with various boundary conditions is investigated by means of a theoretical analysis based upon Fourier series expansion method and a finite element analysis using ANSYS computer program. Two dimensional mode shapes of the liquid-coupled shell structure are obtained by the ANSYS finite element analysis and show that the liquid level affect the nodal point movement. It is found that the variation of normalized naturalfrequencies (natural frequencies of liquid-filled shell/antural frequencies ofempty shell) to the liquid level is depend on the axial mode numbers and circumferential wave numbers. Additionally, it is found that the number of variational steps of normalized natural frequencies is identicial to that of axial nodal points of the mode shape.
Magnetic levitation system with the advantages of non-contact, no friction and no wear can satisfy the requirement of high precision and high speed positioning. In this paper, magnetic levitation positioning stage which mainly consists of planar coil and HALBACH permanent magnet array and its control and driving system are designed. Magnetic levitation system is a highly nonlinear and strongly coupled complex system and its control performance can be influenced by the uncertainty and external disturbance. So exact feedback linearization method is used to realize exact linearization and decoupling, and a strategy of sliding mode control based on disturbance observer is proposed to compensate the uncertainty and external disturbance. Detailed proofs of observer's convergence property and system stability are derived. Both the simulation and experiment results verify the effectiveness of sliding mode control algorithm based on disturbance observer.
We propose the Poynting vector analysis of the air mode in a top-emitting organic light-emitting diode (OLED) by combining the transfer matrix method and dipole source term. The spatial profiles of the time-averaged optical power flow of the air mode are calculated inside and outside the multilayer structure of the OLED with respect to the thickness of the semi-transparent top cathode and capping layer (CPL). We elucidate how the micro-cavity effect controlled by the thickness variation of the semi-transparent top cathode or CPL affects the internal optical power and absorption loss inside the OLED multilayer and the external optical power coupled into the air. When the calculated absorption loss and external power obtained by the proposed Poynting vector and currently-used point dipole models are compared, two calculation results are identical, which demonstrates the validity of the two models.
The interleaving method is usually used to reduce the ripple of output current of filter inductor in parallel operation of PWM DC/DC converter. Although the current ripple of filter inductor decreases, each current ripple of filter inductor is not decreased. In this study, the operation of interleaved buck converter with coupled inductor is analyzed in each operation mode. It is verified through experiment. The possibility of application to grid connected inverter with parallel operation is identified.

A new analysis method of Tap-Off for CATV, DBS, CS systems was proposed and investigated by using 4-port and Lport equivalent circuits. As an analysis method the even$.$odd-mode theory for a symmetrical coupled-line directional coupler was introduced, and then it was applied to transformer type directional couple By comparing the results of simulation and measurement, the validity of the proposed analysis method was confirmed. Furthermore, the Tap-off has been broadened from 5 MHz to 4,000 MHz by adopting the propose theory.
