DEVELOPMENT OF AN OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUE OF A WARM SHRINK FITTING PROCESS FOR AN AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSION PARTS

  • A fitting process carried out in the automobile transmission assembly line is classified into three classes; heat fitting, press fitting, and their combined fitting. Heat fitting is a method that applies heat in the outer diameter of a gear to a suitable range under the tempering temperature and assembles the gear and the shaft made larger than the inner radius of the gear. Its stress depends on the yield strength of a gear. Press fitting is a method that generally squeezes gear toward that of a shaft at room temperature by a press. Another method heats warmly gear and safely squeezes it toward that of a shaft. A warm shrink fitting process for an automobile transmission part is now gradually increased, but the parts (shaft/gear) assembled by the process produced dimensional change in both outer diameter and profile of the gear so that it may cause noise and vibration between gears. In order to solve these problems, we need an analysis of a warm shrink fitting process in which design parameters such as contact pressure according to fitting interference between outer diameter of a shaft and inner diameter of a gear, fitting temperature, and profile tolerance of gear are involved. In this study, an closed form equation to predict the contact pressure and fitting load was proposed in order to develop an optimization technique of a warm shrink fitting process and verified its reliability through the experimental results measured in the field and FEM, thermal-structural coupled field analysis. Actual loads measured in the field have a good agreement with the results obtained from theoretical and finite element analysis and also the expanded amounts of the outer diameters of the gears have a good agreement with the results.

  • A radio-frequency (RF) Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) torch system was used for boron-nitride nano-tube (BNNT) synthesis. Because of electrodeless plasma generation, no electrode pollution and effective heating transfer during nano-material synthesis can be realized. For stable plasma generation, argon and nitrogen gases were injected with 60 kW grid power in the difference pressure from 200 Torr to 630 Torr. Varying hydrogen gas flow rate from 0 to 20 slpm, the electrical and optical plasma properties were investigated. Through the spectroscopic analysis of atomic argon line, hydrogen line and nitrogen molecular band, we investigated the plasma electron excitation temperature, gas temperature and electron density. Based on the plasma characterization, we performed the synthesis of BNNT by inserting 0.5~1 um hexagonal-boron nitride (h-BN) powder into the plasma. We analysis the structure characterization of BNNT by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), also grasp the ingredient of BNNT by EELS (Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy) and Raman spectroscopy. We treated bundles of BNNT with the atmospheric pressure plasma, so that we grow the surface morphology in the water attachment of BNNT. We reduce the advancing contact angle to purity bundles of BNNT.

Modified Hairpin Filters Improving the Suppression Performance of Stop-Band (저지 대역 제거 특성을 향상시킨 변형된 헤어핀 여파기)

  • In this paper, a new hairpin type strip-line BPF(Band Pass Filter) improving the suppression performance of unwanted frequency signal is studied. A modified hairpin filter is designed by classical hairpin filter design methodology and is realized by newly placing structure of designed filter. And a newly formed coupled-line effects between modified bilateral symmetry structures make the transmission zeros. Each transmission zeros can shift its frequency to wanted frequency by tuning a certain part of filter. To investigate the validity of this novel technique, an order-5 Chebyshev BPF centered at 9.2 GHz with a 15 % FBW(fractional bandwidth) were used. According to design and measurement results, a good performance of insertion loss of 0.8 dB and unwanted signal suppression of maximum 50 dB is achieved at full input/output ports.

Wideband Bandstop filter Using Dual Spurline and Coupling Open Stubs (이중 스퍼라인과 커플링 오픈스터브를 이용한 광대역 대역저지 필터)

  • In this paper, we propose a wideband band-stop filter (BSF) in order to extend the stopband of the band-stop filter using a symmetric dual spurline and the coupled open stub. First, we know that the symmetric dual spurline structure is advantageous in widening the stopband, as compared to the asymmetric dual spurline structure. So we designed a band-stop filter that combines the electrically coupled open stub (ECOS) band-stop filter with a symmetric dual spurline. We can greatly extend the stopband, when it is combined with the dual spurline and electrically coupled open stub on a microstrip transmission line, without any size increment. The stopband of the proposed band-stop filter is extended by approximately 244% (rejection depth: -20 dB) compared with a band-stop filter without a dual spurline.

  • In the synthesis of the current source distribution function of an array antenna with the arbitrary radiation pattern, the Woodward-Lawson sampling method has been mainly used for the synthesis of an even function lobe pattern. In this paper, the method is extended to the synthesis of the odd function pattern and then the optimum synthesis method for the nonlinear source distribution function is proposed. The proposed method is applied to the design of nonuniform transmission lines with arbitrary reflection responses. The both dispersive impedance profiles of single and coupled nonuniform lines with arbitrary reflection responses are directly synthesized by the sampled values of a reflected spectral pattern which is optimally shaped by a perturbation of its complex null positions, hence removing the conventional step-by-step segmentation process and global optimization routines. The control problem in the case that all of port impedances are identical is also solved. The generality of the proposed method is verified by a filter design with the controlled arbitrary passband

  • This paper presents a new design method of the Ultra-Wide-Band BandPass Filter using the CRLH-TL(Composite Right- and Left-Handed Transmission-line) having the Metamaterials' properties. Instead of the periodic type or many cells of the CRLH-TL, only the unit cell is used to miniaturize the target component, which can not be realized by the conventional quarter guided-wavelength resonator-based filters. Particularly, the strong coupling essential to the Ultra Wide Band is enabled by the interdigital coupled lines between the grounded stubs. The proposed design scheme is validated by the electromagnetic simulation and measurement of the fabricated filter which shows the total size of 'the guided-wavelength/9.4', the 100 % fractional bandwidth for the UWB, the insertion loss of less than 1 dB and the flat group-delay.

  • In this paper, we propose DLP(Dual Linear Polarization) antenna with aperture coupled feeding structure for private network. The proposed antenna has general aperture coupled structure and design two port between top and bottom layer to obtain the enhanced isolation. Also, The size of each substrate(top and bottom layer) is 34.0 mm(W)×34.0 mm(L), which is designed on the FR-4 substrate which thickness (h) is 1.0 mm, and the dielectric constant is 4.4. Also, the size of patch antenna is 12.70 mm(W2)×14.60 mm(L3), and it is located on the top layer. The size of feeding line is 24.0 mm(W2)×1.6 mm(L3), and is located at the bottom layer Also, rectangular slot is located on the ground plane between top layer and bottom layer. From the fabrication and measurement results, bandwidths of 300 MHz (4.52 to 4.82 GHz) for feeding port 1, and 170 MHz (4.65 to 4.82 GHz) for feeding port 2 are obtained on the basis of -10 dB return loss and transmission coefficient S21 is got under the -30 dB.
