  • Impedance or admittance inverter is a conceptual 2-port device frequently used in microwave filter design. In this paper, the equivalent circuit using inverter for general loss less 2-port circuit is presented. Our equivalent circuit can be directly and easily represented with z- or y-parameters compared with the conventional methods. Based on the representation, the derived results for various coupled lines such as parallel coupled line and anti-parallel coupled lines are compared ours. In addition, the results of other workers for improvement of the distortion in frequency response of microstrip coupled line filter are derived using our representation and compared. The proposed equivalent circuit shows the difference with conventional equivalent circuit so the conventional design method can not be applied to parallel coupled line filter with our representation. So in this paper the novel design method is proposed and we showed the method yields more accurate design results.

  • This letter proposes a band-pass filter (BPF) with two transmission zeros based on a combination of parallel coupling and end coupling of half-wave transmission lines. The fabricated BPF exhibited a narrow bandwidth and two transmission zeros near the pass-band due to the end-coupled and shielding waveguide. At the center operation frequency of 60 GHz, the 20 dB bandwidth of the BPF is 1.0 GHz, which is almost 2% of the center operation frequency, and the insertion loss is 3.12 dB. Two transmission zeros reach approximately 40 dB at 58.5 and 62.5 GHz. The simulation results almost agree with the measured results.

  • Approximate design formulse for bandpass filter using stepped microstrip lines are derived. The coupling length of which can be adjusted according to the factor K.Some advantages fo this filter, thus, are the abilities to control the size and shape by changing the structure of the resonator. Using the design formulas an experimental filter was designed and fabricated . The experimental results have been agree with the designed ones, and hence, the validity of the proposed method has been confirmed.

  • In this paper, a new parallel-coupled-line microstrip BPF(BandPass Filter) improving the suppression performance of 2nd harmonic signals is studied. Using the consecutive pattern in coupled-line, the desired passband performance is improved and harmonic passband signal is rejected. Recalculation of classical filter design parameters(space-gap between lines, line widths and lengths) is not required. That is, after using the classical design methodology for parellel-coupled-line BPF, new filters can be easily realized by inserting periodic patterns in coupled-line. To investigate the validity of this novel technique, order-3 Butterworth BPF centered at 2.5 GHz with a 10 % FBW(Fractional Bandwidth) and order-5 Chebyshev BPF centered at 10 GHz with a 15 % FBW were used. When five and three square grooves are used, over 30 dB harmonic suppression at 2nd harmonic is achieved in simulation and experiment.

  • In this theses, the procedure for finding the equivalent immittance of an n-line coupled structures is presented in terms of the normal mode parameters of the n-line coupled system. The above generalized equations can be applied to the various Coupled structures including directional couplers, DC blocks, bandpass/band elimination filters, and various other uniformly coupled filters. The design equations are based on a simplified TEM(Quasi TEM) mode. The obtained results and the definition of the scattering parameters for a general coupled line four port with arbitrary terminations are used to present the procedure to determine the optimum physical dimensions matching the given load impedances connected to input, output port. Multiple coupled rnicrostrip two-port with three lines circuit designed shows little discrepancy between the conventional method and this one. Four port with five lines were fabricated on teflon substrate($e$r=2.55) with its thickness h=l.588mm designed at the center frequency, 4 GHz. Their measured results are fairly close to the ones by computation.

  • In this paper, the parallel coupled line(PCL) band-pass filter satisfying IEEE 802.11a (a:$5.15{\sim}5.25$, b:$5.25{\sim}5.35$, c:$5.725{\sim}5.875$ [GHz]) has been designed for 5[GHz]band W-Lan RX-System applications. The designed PCL Band-Pass filter is of advantage to make a design formula that is small, light and approximate accuracy. It choose a microstrip plane figure because it is possible that a multiplicity of resonator was designed. It was shown that bandwidth was 14% from 5.15GHz to 5.92GHz at the -3dB designed filter. As a result, it is enough to use the designed filter at W-LAN RX-system of the 5GHz band.

  • A novel miniaturized 2-pole band pass filter(BPF) is proposed and it has an overlapped hairpin and slot structure on the upper and bottom plane of microstrip lines. Due to the overlapped structure of a hairpin and a slot, the size of the proposed BPF is quite smaller than that of a general BPF having coupled lines. The size of the proposed BPF is reduced to 33 % comparing with the conventional λ/4 coupled BPF. The attenuation is improved by controlling the attenuation poles properly using the proposed structure. The proposed 2-pole BPF is fabricated with a narrow bandwidth(69 ㎒) at center frequency, 1.9 ㎓ which is difficult to make that narrow bandwidth in the conventional coupled lines due to impractical spacing. The design method in this paper can be applied to the design of other microwave circuits to reduce the size and improve the performances.

  • In this paper, the microstrip $90^{\circ}$ hybrid to provide -3dB coupling and $90^{\circ}$ phase difference at broadband frequency range of 2 to 6 GHz is designed. This proposed hybrid is composed of 3-section. The two outside section are realized by symmetrical edge coupled lines, but on the other hand the middle section consists of VIP(Vertically Installed Planar) circuit. The ground part of VIP circuit is partially removed to get tight coupling, particularly. This hybrid is easy to realize due to microstrip structure and has good holing flexibility by taking advantage of VIP circuit as a control point of optimization. The proposed hybrid provide satisfactory performance as compared with simplicity of structure and fabrication first of all.

  • Three-Dimensional FDTD method is applied to analyze the dielectric resonator coupled with two microstrip lines. We model accurately the curved surface using Noriaki model. The frequency resolution is 106.46 MHz by the conventional FFT However it is not sufficient for determining its resonant frequency. So we introduce the Pad approximation and Stoer-Bulirsch method in order to have the high frequency resolution degree, 1.00 MHz. All results are compared with the measured data. As a result, we acquire the very precise result through the Pad approximation. And sinusoidal wave is applied. From the plot of the electric and magnetic field distribution, it is shown that the resonant mode is $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode.
