Impact of Individual's Regulatory Focus on Value Perceptions of and Willingness to Invest towards Online Mass-Customized Fashion

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of consumers' regulatory focus on their perceived values of the product as well as shopping process, and willingness to invest resources for online mass-customized products. Data were collected using an online survey from 251 young adult consumers, particularly those who have prior purchase experience of mass-customized products. Interpretation of results indicated that consumers' promotion regulatory focus impacted their perceived values of the product (social, emotional, monetary, and epistemic but not performance), perceived values of the shopping process (hedonic and utilitarian), and willingness to invest more money, time and effort. However, as anticipated, prevention regulatory focus had no significant influence on the dependent variables. Researchers provide crucial implications for brands of online mass-customized products to segment their market based on regulatory orientation, as well as better cater to customer demands by positioning their products as offering benefits that specifically caters to the needs of such consumers.

A study on Characteristics of Chinese Style Reflected in the Vivienne Tam Collection (비비안 탐 컬렉션에 나타난 중국풍 디자인 특성 연구)

  • This study examined the Chinese style in the Vivienne Tam collection as well as explored diversity and modern interpretation of a Chinese style used in modern fashion. The study also investigated the concept and history of the Chinese style as well as analyzed the Chinese style in the collection based on a consideration of a Chinese element that is the basic structure with an understanding of Vivienne Tam and general collection themes. As a result of research, the Chinese style appeared in the Vivienne Tam collection was comprehensive with 43 Chinese elements including Animals, Flower & Grass among the Nature elements, Mythology Religion among the Figure elements, Historical Artifacts, Clothing, Oral Literature, Entertainment, Fine Arts. Technique, Folk holiday among Culture elements and Philosophy among Spirit elements, which accounted for 57.6% of the collection. The formative characteristics that included Chinese elements were extended, abstracted, distorted or transformed; in addition, some abstract elements were embodied into animals, images and certain particular forms to present a theme. In addition to two-dimensional method to print Chinese elements on fabric, they were also expressed as a three-dimensional texture or a silhouette, achieving clear and bold harmony. The aesthetic characteristic is a mixture of Eastern and Western way of thinking. Her costume has a political and historical meaning beyond the imitation of elements that represent the development of a pleasant and interesting design.

Types and Expressive Characteristics of the Chinese Shadow Puppetry Costumes, Yingxi (중국 산시성 피영극 복식의 유형 및 표현 특징)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the expressive characteristics of Chinese shadow puppetry costumes. Literature study and case analysis were conducted using books, research papers, and materials from the Xi'an shadow puppetry museum. Based on the Chinese traditional costumes, the shape characteristics are utilized with the intaglio and embossing techniques, and the complex and unnecessary details are omitted to express the costume image in a characteristic and simple manner. Second, colour was used according to the traditional Chinese symbolic colour concept, and the brighter the colour, the higher the role's status. The colour was also used to express identity and character. In addition, relatively vivid and highly saturated colours were used for the transparent effect of the shadow puppetry. Third, a role's status is indicated by the density and completeness of the patterns; the higher the role's status, the more complex and sophisticated the patterns, and the lower the status, the simpler the patterns or no patterns are used. Fourth, the faith for blessing expressed in the shadow puppetry is a representative folk auspicious culture. The repertoire of the shadow puppetry and the patterns on the costumes worn by the puppets, express the culture in an implicit way to symbolize the meaning of auspicious things.

  • The purpose of this study is for consideration of John Galliano's fashion design works. Galliano, young British designer, became the chief designer of Givenchy in 1995 and of Christian Dior in 1996. Through fashion information from WWD, High Fashion, Mode et Mode, Collezioni, Vogue, Internet sites and video tapes from 1995 to 1999, his works were concerned for this study. The results are as followed; First, we can find dynamics in Galliano's works. The dynamic mood came from his study about historic costume. Second, new beauty from dismantling and reconstruction was expressed on his designs. Third, his experimental creativities were based on fashion business. Therefore Galliano's eccentricity signify the Maximalism against the Minimalism which dominated the end of 20th century. So we can find a clue to new millenium in fashion world in his designs.

  • The Purpose of this study is to comprehend the form of Post-modernism in 1980~90 Fashion by comparing to the representative form of Modernism. For empirical data, photographs and critics about fashion were collected from Vogue fashion magazine to differentiate from other studies which is mostly analysed from collection. The results are as follows: The Modernism in fashion can be epitomized simple and functional form as a rational costume and Post-modern fashion expresses all sorts of emotion as a react of rational theme of modernism with manners of anti-formal pluralism such as pastiche, parody and Kitsch. The fashion in 1980-90s in Vogue expressed as follow :1) The Postmodernism is well exploited around 1990 and costrained by traditional and classical Mode. 2) The other main character of Postmodernism, romantic eroticism is broadly expressed with material and slim curved body conscious line. 3) The Modernism and Postmodernism coexisted in the end of 1990, in more matured format.

  • This study is a thesis about the hair art reflected minimalism which is expanded to various art fields using minimum formative measures minimalism is a kind of modern art trend. It is analyzed theoretically that the works of this researcher approaching minimalism and consideration of minimalism about hair, flexible clothes and artistic costume. It is defined that the "hair art" is "aesthetic hair", and I include my three works approaching minimalism that are researched, extended, made. I spread the works which have minimalism characteristic by design intent, concept, title, color, ingredient, size and detail, consider the hair art works theoretically and present the basis and method of scholar study minimalism art trend. I think that succeeding studies related to the hair art should be continued. I expect that various work activities of hair art artists and scientific breakthrough via theoretical thesis about the work of themselves.

  • Digital technology With the popularization of computers and IT technology development is causing a dramatic change across the human life. Increase of profit in fashion industry has a significant impact on the overall industry. It has been studied to develop consumer oriented higher value-added fashion products of including clothes using digital technology abroad. In this paper, we propose a system that when user stand in front of display, user can show body captured depth camera look the coordination of a variety of costume and fashion concept through a magic mirror. Using the system, we will satisfy the convenience of user and be used as a way appropriate to clothing shopping in the shortest time. The system will develop personalized fashion content industry enhanced interaction.

  • The analysis revealed that the pattern represent the function of written language, the Miao's idea of nature as tie object of worship and exorcism, and their primitive thinking. The patterns are chiefly embroidered collars, shoulders of blouse, waist blind and hem lines of skirt. The design of patterns are animals and plants and geometrical figured. Most of patterns are dragon, fishes, birds, butterflies, which are liked by the Miao people. The patterns are highly imaginative and true to life, and are made with strong national and popular features.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the ladylike style of Grace Kelly focusing on her costume design of 1950s movie and star image, and to understand how she became a fashion icon today. Her city elegant look was usually composed of A line or H line suits and dresses, pearl jewelry, gloves, handbags and her classic ladylike attitude. Kelly's luxury casual look epitomized a relaxed elegance based on the American sporting image including the Hermes "Kelly" bag. Her sexual elegant look showed the combination of freshness, ladylike virtue and underlying sex appeal. Her self-confident, ladylike style appeals to modern fashionable women who likes to be elegant but also sexy.

A Comparative Study on the Degree of Satisfaction of Domestic & Imported Theatre Costumes (국내 무대의상과 수입 무대의상에 대한 만족도 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyzed factors that influenced the degree of satisfaction difference of domestic and imported theatre costumes. One hundred and fifty theatrical artists were surveyed by questionnaires, and response from 128 was statistically analyzed. The data was analyzed using frequency, and paired t-test with SPSSWIN 10.0. The results were as follows. 1. The degree of satisfaction between domestic and imported theatrical costumes was different significantly. 2. The degree of satisfaction of domestic theatrical costumes was tow in the areas of design, color, fabric, and suitability with a historical background, compared with imported costumes. A major cause of the low degree of satisfaction was the lack of funds and professional theatrical costume designers. 3. The degree of satisfaction of imported theatrical costumes was low in the cost, size, and alteration and mending facilities, compared with the domestic costumes. The problems of size was caused by the shape difference between Koreans and a foreigners 4. further research should be conducted into the theatre costumes suitable for the domestic theatrical artists's size, and body shape.
