A Study on the Reduction of Standby Power Consumption for Multiple Output Converters (다출력 컨버터의 대기전력 저감에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the reduction of standby power consumption is significantly issued in electronic and electrical industry for the conservation of environment. In the case of a switched mode power supply (SMPS), it is demanded high efficiency at extremely low output power conditions by consumers. However, it is very different from high efficiency techniques at full load conditions. In addition, many SMPSs are designed as a multi-output circuit for various loads because of cost down. This circuit is difficult to implement both high efficiency and good cross regulation performance, simultaneously. In this paper, secondary side post regulator (SSPR), current mode control method, and power sequence control technique are proposed to reduce standby power consumption and to improve cross regulation performance of the multi-output SMPSs which consist of single or multiple converter. The proposed methods are analyzed by their operational principles and optimal designs verified by experimental results with 110[W] and 270[W] SMPSs.

  • This research is focused on the development of GIS Diagnostic SYSTEM to prevent accidents beforehand by inspecting the internal defects of GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) which is a main power-facility for substations. GIS Diagnostic SYSTEM is categorized as 'Real time on-line test type' and 'Portable test type' depending on the types of testing, it uses PD(partial discharge) which mostly incurs in GIS internal defects, to inspect. As of now, mostly foreign equipments are imported for use due to the lack of the technology localization, and these are installed and operated on only some parts of highly-graded GIS power-facilities such as in 76skv or 345kv for its being expensive. Furthermore, other than foreign equipments being costly, it also has a weak point of very long unavailability in case of Diagnostic system break-down while using, because it takes a comparatively long period of corrective maintenance precesses. We have localized to develop personal real-time multi -functional GIS Diagnostic system which can test on all GIS power-facility comprehensively and economically therefore overcome all these problems mentioned above, a market expansion is expected from the decrease of price and replacing the import equipments in the future. As the equipment was developed to be Personal for the simple ways of installing and utilizing, it can be operated without any complex cable installation like other existing GIS Diagnostic system requires, therefore also decrease the cost of cable installation.

Biofiltration of Odorous Compounds in Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Gases (생물탈취상에 의한 도시폐기물 매립지가스내 악취물질의 처리)

  • Biofiltration is an attractive technique for elimination of VOCs and odorous compounds from low-concentration, high-volume waste gas streams because of its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. The objective of this study was to estimate the removal characteristics of Odorous Compounds including $H_2$S, $NH_3$End BTEX in MSW landfill gases. This Study was conducted at Nanjido landfill site. A compost from the Nanjido composting facility was used as a filling material for biofiltration. Extracted landfill gases were injected into biofilter reactors after mixing with air. Experiments were performed in an incubator being set to $20^{\circ}C$ $H_2$S concentrations were monitored at the depths of 25, 50, 75 and 100cm from the bottom Of the biofilter reactors. 98% of $H_2$S was removed at the filling depth of only 25cm. NH$_3$removal rate was about 85%. Toluene removal rate was the highest among BTEX. Significant pH drop of a filling material was not observed during the biofilter operation of 1 month. Without mixing the landfill gas stream with all, the removal rate of $H_2$S decreased down to 30%.

  • The main cause of global warming is carbon dioxide generated from the use of fossil fuels, and active research on the reduction of carbon is in progress to slow down the increasing global warming. Wind turbines generate electricity from kinetic energy of wind and are considered as representative for an energy source that helps to reduce carbon emission. Since the kinetic energy of wind is proportional to the cube of the wind speed, the intensity of wind affects wind farm construction validity the most. Therefore, to organize a wind farm, validity analysis should be conducted first through measurement of the wind resources. To facilitate the approval and permission and reduce installation cost, measuring sensors should be installed at locations below the actual wind turbine hub. Wind conditions change in shape with air density, and air density is most affected by the variable sterrain and surface type. So the magnitude of wind speed depends on the ground altitude. If wind conditions are measured at a location below the wind turbine hub, the wind speed has to be extrapolated to the hub height. This correction of wind speed according to height is done with the Deacon equation used in the statistical analysis of previously observed data. In this study, the optimal Deacon equation parameter was obtained through the analysis of the correction of the wind speed error with the Deacon equation based on the characteristics of terrain.

  • This paper is a matter of remote control apparatus and display remote control system comprising the same. The remote controller is a wireless remote pointing device that is included a function of mouse and a function of remote controller for VOD etc. It is assembled a sending signal part to communicate with display device, a image sensor part to capture a seen of front view and a main body. Also, it includes a control part that analyzes the captured image, calculates a relative moving factor that main body is moved by user, and then controls the mouse cursor on the display device. The remote control apparatus is able to capture a seen of front view, to analyze the captured image, and to move a mouse cursor point on the display device as much as it calculated relative moving factor. Therefor it brings down the cost of production by a product design that is increased user satisfaction. And it, using the patent and the new product design, will make an epoch in development of the remote control system for Ubiquitous broadcasting industry.

  • Recent development in seeker technology explores a new seeker design in which, with larger field-of-view (FOV), optical parts are strapped down to a body (hence, called as a body-fixed seeker or a strapdown seeker). This design has several advantages such as comparatively easier maintenance and calibration by removing complex mechanical moving parts, increasing reliability, and cost savings. On the other hand, the strapdown seeker involves difficulties in implementing guidance laws since it does not directly provide inertial LOS rates. Instead, information for generating guidance commands should be extracted by estimating missile/target relative motion utilizing target images on the image plane of a strapdown seeker. In this research, a new framework based on an unscented Kalman filter is developed for estimating missile/target relative motion on the simplified assumption of a point source target. Performance of a terminal guidance algorithm, in which guidance command is generated based on the estimated relative motion, is demonstrated by a missile/target engagement simulation.

HPV and Cervical Cancer Epidemiology - Current Status of HPV Vaccination in India

  • Cervical cancer (CaCx) is the second most fatal cancer contributing to 14% of cancers in Indian females, which account for 25.4% and 26.5% of the global burden of CaCx prevalence and mortality, respectively. Persistent infection with high-risk human papilloma virus (HPV- strains 16 and 18) is the most important risk factor for precursors of invasive CaCx. Comprehensive prevention strategies for CaCx should include screening and HPV vaccination. Three screening modalities for CaCx are cytology, visual inspection with acetic acid, and HPV testing. There is no Indian national policy on CaCx prevention, and screening of asymptomatic females against CaCx is practically non-existent. HPV vaccines can make a major breakthrough in the control of CaCx in India which has high disease load and no organized screening program. Despite the Indian Government's effort to introduce HPV vaccination in the National Immunization Program and bring down vaccine cost, challenges to implementing vaccination in India are strong such as: inadequate epidemiological evidence for disease prioritization, duration of vaccine use, parental attitudes, and vaccine acceptance. This paper reviews the current epidemiology of CaCx and HPV in India, and the current status of HPV vaccination in the country. This article stresses the need for more research in the Indian context, to evaluate interventions for CaCx and assess their applicability, success, scalability and sustainability within the constraints of the Indian health care system.

Evaluation on the Fuel Efficiency of Hi-Pass System (고속도로 하이패스 시스템의 연료감소효과 평가)

  • Around a toll plaza, vehicles do such maneuvers as slow down, stop, and speed up to pay their tolls when they use ordinary toll gates. They can be expected more fuel consumptions compared to the vehicles which use the Hi-pass, a Korean type of Electronic Toll Collection System(ETCS). To measure the exact amount of difference between the two gas consumptions, we equipped a test vehicle with a measurement system and constructed a model toll gate on our test field. Through the field tests on fuel consumptions, we could confirm a 36.7 % of energy saving when the test car used the Hi-pass. Then we projected the result on the total traffic volumes which had used national expressway network for five months from January 2009. Projected to the whole traffic, potential cost savings reached 5.34 billion won. We expect this result be frequently mentioned of to prove the fuel efficiency of the Hi-pass system.

The Effectiveness of Image and Attitude on Extension Brand Loyalty in the Foodservice Industry (확장된 외식브랜드이미지와 브랜드태도가 브랜드충성도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • In the severely competitive market, brand extension strategy has become a key strategy to the companies that are trying to expand in the new market and to cut down the marketing cost. In conclusion, following results are deduced. First, hypothesis 1(H-1) refers to the relationship between image of extension brand and attitude of extension brand, and it shows path-coefficients value of 0.43, and t-value of 4.21 which supports the hypothesis statistically. Second, H-2 is the result of the analysis of relationship between attitude of extension brand and loyalty of extension brand and consequently the hypothesis is supported by the path-coefficients value of 0.29 and t-value of 3.08. The results of this study provided very useful information for both foodservice industry and academics. At first, in the theocratical point of view, this study suggests a new concept the foodservice brand extension. Consequently in marketing point of view, the results of this study recommend several strategies of foodservice brand extension using foodservice image, attitude and loyalty.

  • Recently, Construction Business, is changing very quickly, exceedingly needs to slim down the construction expensive by reducing material costs and the term of works. The term of formwork takes 25% of the term of works and costs 15% to 20% of the cost of construction. Hereupon, the purpose of this study is to investigate the Axial Strength of Centrifugall Formed Shell PC Columns that can reduce the term of formwork, the costs of material, the difficulty of throwing away the waste. Shell PC Column is loaded stirrups and manufactured at factory, so it has good points like construction's quality control and part's precision. However, it needs to be tested for checking bonded ability because it is set up at core and coverd with concrete. therefore this study is necessary three type of columns, which are a RC column, different type of two compressive strength core concrete columns and a Shell PC Column. By three columns, this study compare with and analysis three columns's bonded and Compressive Behavior abilities.
