The traditional prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs have several drawbacks such as large deflection and potential local buckling. In this study, two methods were investigated to optimize and improve the prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs. The first method was to replace the concrete bottom slab with a steel plate and the second method was to support the concrete bottom slab on the steel flanges. The behavior of the prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs with either method was studied by experiments on three specimens. The test results showed that behavior of the optimized and upgraded prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs, including ultimate bearing capacity, flexural stiffness, and crack resistance, is greatly improved. In addition, the influence of different shear connectors, including perfobond leisten (PBL) and stud shear connectors, on the behavior of prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs was studied. The results showed that PBL shear connectors can greatly improve the ultimate bearing capacity, flexural stiffness and crack resistance property of the prestressed concrete composite box-girders with corrugated steel webs. However, for the efficiency of prestressing introduced into the girder, the PBL shear connectors do not perform as well as the stud shear connectors.
The hardness of corrugated packaging box decreased during storage period because of high humidity. Therefore, the strength-decreasing factor of corrugated packaging box had to be investigated to determine the compression strength of the corrugated packaging box. This study was conducted to define the characteristics of moisture absorption as well as compression strength of corrugated fiberboard. (1) The moisture content of the corrugated fiberboard was rarely influenced by the kinds of raw materials and water repellent. However, the moisture adsorption of the corrugated fiberboard was shown to be clearly affected by air temperature changes. (2) The moisture content of the corrugated fiberboard was significantly affected by relative humidity. The moisture adsorption of corrugated fiberboard was also greatly influenced by composition of raw materials rather than water repellent. The results indicated that the improvement of raw materials was more effective than the increase of water repellent of corrugated fiberboard to reduce the moisture adsorption of the corrugated fiberboard. (3) The vertical compression strength was significantly decreased with increasing relative humidity. The reduction rate of vertical compression strength was not charged with the increase of relative humidity, which was regardless of kinds of corrugated fiberboard. (4) For improving the strength of the corrugated packaging box, new technique should be found to develop better quality of raw materials. Moreover, the physical construction of corrugated packaging box should be clearly understood because the corrugated packaging box for the agricultural products was usually used for the circumstances of high humidity and low air temperature
A composite box-girder with corrugated steel webs has been used in civil engineering practice as an alternative to the conventional pre-stressed concrete box-girder because of several advantages, such as high shear resistance without vertical stiffeners and an increase in the efficiency of pre-stressing due to the accordion effect. Many studies have been conducted on the shear buckling and flexural behavior of the composite box-girder with corrugated steel webs. However, the torsional behavior is not fully understood yet, and it needed to be investigated. Prior study of the torsion of the composite box-girder with corrugated steel webs has been developed by assuming that the concrete section is cracked prior to loading and doesn't have tensile resistance. This results in poor estimation of pre-cracking behaviors, such as initial stiffness. To overcome this disadvantage of the previous analytical model, an improved analytical model for torsion of the composite box-girder with corrugated steel webs was developed considering the concrete tension behavior in this study. Based on the proposed analytical model, a non-linear torsional analysis program for torsion of the composite box-girder with corrugated steel webs was developed and successfully verified by comparing with the results of the test. The proposed analytical model shows that the concrete tension behavior has significant effect on the initial torsional stiffness and cracking torsional moment. Finally, a simplified torsional moment-twist angle relationship of the composite box-girder with corrugated steel webs was proposed based on the proposed analytical model.

The effect of coating of liner components with oxidized starch on the properties of corrugated box was examined . Coating was carried out on liner components of B flute, single-wall corrugated board(SK180/S120/K200) , and corrugated box was made from the treated corrugated board. Box was made in a regular slotted container (RSC) style, and box compression strength was determined in the direction of top-to-bottom compression. The compression strength of box coated on outside liner component showed 15.4% improvement for 1.58g㎡ coating. On the other hand, the strength of box coated on outside liner component showed only 1.45% improvement for 1.41g/㎡ coating and 3.46% improvement for 2.32g/㎡ coating. Coating on inside liner component with oxidized starch at low coating weight more significantly improved box compression strength than coating on outside liner component, and the improvement was marked at the coating weight of 1.5-2.5g/㎡. In estimating top-to-bottom box compression strength, the experimental values were closer to the calculated values from McKee's equation suing edgewise compression strength of the combined board measured by column crush test than those from Kellicutt's equation using compression strength of component paperboards measured by ring crush test.
Double wall corrugated paperboard box are almost used for package of agricultural and fishery products in Korea. Flaps of the double wall corrugated paperboard box are consist of the three linerboard and two corrugating medium. But these flaps which are not affected to the compression strength for storage and distribution results in the reasonable cost-up of the packed box. Compared the strengths and economical evaluations between double wall and single wall corrugated paperboard box results as follows. Compression strength of single wall box is higher 49.3% to 98.0% than that of the double wall corrugated paperboard box and its cost are down 5% to 8%. Effect of the cost down on the saving materials of flap and corrugating medium is 13.9%.

Carton and corrugated paperboard have excellent convertibility characteristics that could be easily slitted, folded, and inserted to become a certain shape of box or case. This excellent processing characteristics of carton and corrugated paperboard as well as their recyclability will continue to make them possess high portion in packaging markets. However, staple, tape, or adhesive have been used to seal a paperboard packaging box or case. Staples among them have been frequently used in many cases because of their convenience. Staples could enter the inside the box and give wounds to the goods in the box or case. Furthermore additional handling and waste treatment costs in the making and recycling processes would be necessary when staple is used to seal box or case. This study has been carried out to develop non-staple paperboard packaging box & case designs that can be used to make non-staple boxes & cases. It is believed that the non-staple folding paperboard boxes & cases could be more environmental-friendly, beautiful, and economic than staple boxes & cases.
It is possible to use pallet for forwarding as chinese cabbages and radishes are general large-scale trading items at the agricultural wholesale market though, however, most of these are forwarded as it have packed in net bags or in P·E bags. Thus, it is still hard for palletizing. The type of packing the product in the net bag makes it difficult for palletizing. It is not a stable shape enough and easily collapsed for pallet loading. Because of this collapsibility, the corrugated cardboard box is being used to enhance forwarding efficiency, but the existing corrugated cardboard box could be crushed easily by moist what is from the agricultural product's property and it also could be squashed by the mass of the loaded box layers on itself. In contrary, the functional waterproof corrugated cardboard box is not collapsed through palletizing and it is efficient for product management with it's ventilation function in respond to pre-cooling effect. Furthermore, because it has various functional shapes as the open type, the partition type and so on, it is effective for maintaining freshness of the product and standardizing the distribution of agricultural product. It is well-known that it is possible to introduce this box to cargo-works of agricultural product. Consequently, the recognition of main distributors about the pallet distribution of the chinese cabbage and the radish was apprehended in this study for activating mechanization of loading and unloading. The survey was conducted to the main distributors such as the forwarder, the auction dealer and the commission merchant with Garak-dong wholesale market as the center. The appropriate packing materials and problems of the existing method for loading and unloading were derived through the survey. Especially, it was focused on analyzing the difference of recognition between the subject groups for the way of using waterproof cardboard corrugated box to deal with the difficult product for packing in normal corrugated box because of the box's absorption of moist from the agricultural product like a chinese cabbage and a radish. Total In the cases of the forwarders and the commission merchants, the net was highly responded as 45%, 74% from each groups for the best packing material for mechanization of distribution and the waterproof corrugated cardboard box was responded as 20%, 22% from each groups as much preferable than multi-stage wooden box. However, for the radish, the waterproof corrugated cardboard box was the best material as 56%, and the auction trader group supported it for 80%. So, the using the waterproof corrugated cardboard box for mechanization of distribution was negative for the chinese cabbage, but it was positive for the radish. The average was 2.42, the standard deviation was 1.24. The negative response(about 55%) was prevailing more than positive response(about 23%). It could be analyzed that even there was the positive recognition for using the waterproof corrugated cardboard box for the radish though the preference for low price of net bag in the chinese cabbage forwarding procedure. Still now, it seems that is a burden for using the waterproof corrugated cardboard box with high price. In the analysis on the recognition differences about using the waterproof corrugated cardboard box for the chinese cabbages and the radish between the forwarders and the commission merchants, generally the negative recognition was prevailing, but the forwarders(2.696) were more positive for using the waterproof corrugated cardboard box than the commission merchants(2.145).

This study was carried out to analyze changes of the physical properties of corrugated fiberboard boxes for fruits packaging by various moisture and temperature changes. There were significant decrease in burst strength with increased relative humidity. And also compressive strength(ring crush test) of corrugated fiberboard and box were reduced with moisture content. The decreasing amounts of single wall(SW) corrugated fiberboard was bigger than that of double wall(DW). The physical properties reductions of corrugated fiberboard and box were mainly affected by relative humidity. Therefore, it is suggested that development of the water-resistant corrugated fiberboard and box be useful under the condition of low temperature and high relative humidity such as the cold chain system.
Top-to-bottom compression strength of corrugated fiberboard boxes is partly dependent on the load-carrying ability of the central panel areas. The ability of these central areas to resist bending under load will increase the stacking strength of the box. The difference of box compression strengths, among boxes which are made with identical dimensions and fabricated with same components but different flute sizes, is primarily due to difference of the flexural stiffness of the box panels. Top-to-bottom compression strength of a box is accurately predicted by flexural stiffness measurements and the edge crush test of the combined boards. This study was carried out to analyze the flexural stiffness, maximum bending force and maximum deflection for various corrugated fiberboards by experimental investigation. There were significant differences between the machine direction (MD) and the cross-machine direction (CD) of corrugated fiberboards tested. It was about 50% in SW and DW, and $62%{\sim}74%$ in dual-medium corrugated fiberboards(e.g. DM, DMA and DMB), respectively. There were no significant differences of maximum deflection in machine direction among the tested fiberboards but, in cross direction, DM showed the highest value and followed by SW, DMA, DMB and DW in order. For the corrugated fiberboards tested, flexural stiffness in machine direction is about $29%{\sim}48%$ larger than cross direction, and difference of flexural stiffness between the two direction is the lowest in DMA and DMB.
In this paper, a 3-dimensional stiffened plate model for soil-metal box structures is proposed. 3-dimensional stiffened plate model is enable to model corrugated steel plates of soil metal box culverts considering section modulus and section properties of longitudinal and horizontal direction from a corrugated steel plate. Loading conditions which causes maximum displacement and maximum moment according to the step construction stages(a back filling to the top of the plate, a back filling to the maximum depth of cover, and loading of live loads) was applied and the behaviors of the soil metal box culverts was analyzed. Analysis results of 3-dimensional stiffened model were compared with those of 2-dimensional model, 3-dimensional equivalent plate model and 3-dimensional corrugated plate model. As results, the behaviors of 2-dimensional model and 3 dimensional equivalent model are different from 3-dimensional corrugated plate model but the result of 3-dimensional stiffened model has good agreement with that of 3-dimensional corrugated plate model.
