Fault diagnosis of a logical circuit by use of input grouping method

  • The authors have already proposed a method for grouping of inputs of a logical circuit under test (LCUT) by use of M-sequence correlation. We call this method as input grouping (IG) method. In this paper, the authors propose a new method to estimate the faulty part in the circuit by use of IG when some information on the candidate of faulty part can be obtained beforehand. The relationship between IG and fault probabilities of a LCUT, and undetected fault ratios are investigated for various cases. Especially the investigation was made in case where the IG was calculated by use of n correlation functions (I $G_{inp}$). From the theoretical study and simulation results it is shown that the estimation error ratio of fault probabilities and undetected fault ratio of LCUT are sufficiently small even when only a part of correlation functions are used. It is shown that the number of correlation functions which are to be memorized to calculate IG can be considerably reducible from 2$^{n}$ - 1 to n by use of I $G_{inp}$. So this method would be very useful for a fault diagnosis of actual logic circuit.uit.

Comparison and Correlation between Physical and Psychological Functions by Gender in Judo Athletes (유도선수의 성별에 따른 신체적, 심리적 기능 비교 및 상관관계 연구)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to comparison and correlation between physical and psychological functions by gender in Judo athletes. Both the physical and psychological factors of athletes are important as factors influencing athletic performance, but there are few papers that have compared and studied the correlation between physical and psychological functions of judo players. Design: Cross sectional study Methods: The 134 participants; high school students, college students, and team players. They used physical functions to measure such as self-describing KOOS, FAOS, ODI, POMS, SCAT, ASMQ, and ACSI-28. Results: There was a significant difference in the physical function according to gender in the KOOS, but no significant difference in the FAOS and ODI. For psychological function, there was a significant difference in the vitality item in the POMS, and a significant difference in the body management, training management, life management, and unique behavior management items in the ASMQ. In the ACSI-28, there were significant differences in coping with adversity, stress repayment, concentration, freedom to worry about matches, and self-coaching behavior items. Physical function and psychological function showed a significant negative correlation. The POMS showed a negative correlation between the ASMQ and ACSI-28, whereas the SCAT showed a positive correlation. Conclusion: The results of this study are expected to be used as a basic data for sports training by gender of Judo athletes.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study of Transport Properties of Diatomic Gases

  • In this paper, we report thermodynamic and transport properties (diffusion coefficient, viscosity, and thermal conductivity) of diatomic gases ($H_2$, $N_2$, $O_2$, and $Cl_2$) at 273.15 K and 1.00 atm by performing molecular dynamics simulations using Lennard-Jones intermolecular potential and modified Green-Kubo formulas. The results of self-diffusion coefficients of diatomic gases obtained from velocity auto-correlation functions by Green-Kubo relation are in good agreement with those obtained from mean square displacements by Einstein relation. While the results for viscosities of diatomic gases obtained from stress auto-correlation functions underestimate the experimental results, those for thermal conductivities obtained from heat flux auto-correlation functions overestimate the experimental data except $H_2$.

  • In a recent paper[Bull. Kor. Chem. Soc. 17, 735 (1996)] we reported results of molecular dynamic (MD) simulations for the thermodynamic and structural properties of liquid n-alkanes, from n-butane to n-heptadecane, using three different models. Two of the three classes of models are collapsed atomic models while the third class is an atomistically detailed model. In the present paper we present results of MD simulations for the dynamic properties of liquid n-alkanes using the same models. The agreement of two self-diffusion coefficients of liquid n-alkanes calculated from the mean square displacements (MSD) via the Einstein equation and the velocity auto-correlation (VAC) functions via the Green-Kubo relation is excellent. The viscosities of n-butane to n-nonane calculated from the stress auto-correlation (SAC) functions and the thermal conductivities of n-pentane to n-decane calculated from the heat-flux auto-correlation (HFAC) functions via the Green-Kubo relations are smaller than the experimental values by approximately a factor of 2 and 4, respectively.

Effect of membrane lipid peroxidation on rat liver microsomal enzyme activity (막지질 과산화와 간세포내 마이크로솜 및 리덕타제 기능과의 상관성에 관한 연구)

  • The effects of membrane lipid peroxidation and retinyl palmitate on rat liver microsomal functions were investigated in vitro. Rat liver homogenates exposed to oxygen tension for 0, 3, 6, 9 or12 hours and lipid peroxidation levels were evaluated by the measurements of fluorescence intensity, malondialdehyde (MDA) and retinyl palmitate. The fluorescence intensity of homogenates and microsomes were elevated and retinyl palmitate concentrations were decreased. But the concentration of MDA was not affected to exposure time. Therefore, fluorescence intensity and retinyl palmitate concentration were used to analyze the correlation between lipid peroxidation and microsomal functions. To investigate the liver microsomal functions, the microsome was isolated from rat liver homogenates exposed to oxygen. The concentration of cytochrome P450 and the activity of NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase in liver microsomes were gradually decreased with increasing the exposure time. The correlation between fluorescence intensity of microsomes showed a very high inverse correlation of -0.97 and -0.93, respectively. The decrease of cytochrome P450 concentration was due to the regeneration of cytochrome P450 to cytochrome P420. Also, the activities of cytochrome P450-dependent aminopyrine demethylase and benzpyrene hydroxylase of liver microsomes were gradually decreased with increasing the exposure time. The correlation with fluorescence intensity of microsome showed a high inverse correlation of -0.97 and -0.91, respectively. The retinyl palmitate concentrations of rat liver homogenates were decreased with increasing the exposure time. The decrease of retinyl palmitate concentration was followed by a low concentration of cytochrome P450 and activity of NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase. The correlation indicated high direct correlation of 0.92 and 0.93, respectively. The decrease of retinyl palmitate concentration was also accompanied by the reduction of aminopyrine demethylase and benzpyrene hydroxylase activities. The correlation was analyzed a high direct correlation of 0.90 and 0.85, respectively. In conclusion, these studies have shown that the membrane lipid peroxidation of rat liver microsome proportionally decreased microsomal enzyme activities in vitro experiments.

INPUT GROUPING OF LIGICAL CIRCUIT BY USE OF M-SEQUENCE CORRELATION

  • A new method for grouping of relevant and equivalent inputs of a logical circuit was proposed by the authors by making use of pseudorandom M-sequence correlation. The authors show in this paper that it is possible to estimate the input grouping from a part of correlation functions when we admit small percentage of error, whereas it is impossible to reduce the data necessary to estimate the grouping by use of the truth table method. For example in case of 30-input logic circuit, the number of correlation functions necessary to calculate can be reducible from 1.07 * 10$^{9}$ to 465.

The Relationship Study between Cumulative Fatigue and Stress of Seafarers by Evaluating Autonomic Nervous Functions and Survey Studies (선원의 자율신경 기능평가에 의한 누적피로도 및 스트레스와 조사연구 사이의 관련성 연구)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study has been performed to find the relationship between seafarers' cumulative fatigue and stress by evaluating autonomic nervous functions and the results of surveys conducted using questionnaires. Methods : The subjects were seafarers working on various ships (home trade ships) of South Korea, who were healthy adults without any diseases, as confirmed through preliminary surveys were recruited through simple random sampling. A device that measures autonomic nervous functions by analyzing heart rate variability, which is also used often in clinical diagnoses and studies at universities, university hospitals, and general hospitals was used to measure the seafarers' cumulative fatigue and stress. Pearson's correlation analyses were also conducted to test the relationship between cumulative fatigue and stress measured by evaluating autonomic nervous functions and the results of surveys conducted with questionnaires. Results : There was no correlation between mean cumulative fatigue measured for each ship type and seafarers position through autonomic nervous functions evaluation and fatigue severity scale (FSS). There also was no correlation between the mean levels of stress measured for each ship type and seafarers position through autonomic nervous functions evaluation and survey scores of Korean occupational stress scale (KOSS). Conclusion : Therefore, in order to prevent man-made accidents in the sea among seafarers working with irregular port entry/departure schedules and under environments involving continued vibration, noises, and shaking, it is necessary to analyzed cumulative fatigue and stress scientifically and objectively, such as through autonomic nervous functions evaluation rather than through surveys.

On recursively extended Boolean functions (확장 재생성된 부울 함수의 성질)

  • In this paper, we deal with the cryptographic properties of Boolean functions generated by recursively extended methods from the points of balancedness, nonlinearity and correlation properties. First, we propose a new concept 'Strict Uncorrelated Criterion(SUC)' for two Boolean functions as a necessary condition for constructing Boolean functions of S-box which can be guaranteed to be resistant against Differential cryptanalysis, then we show that the recurively extended Boolean functions with particular form preserve the SUC. We also examine the correlation properties of Boolean functions using Walsh-Hadamard transformations and apply them to discuss nonlinearity, correlation properties and SUC of semi-bent function which is defined over odd dimensional vector space. Finally, we compare semi-bent function with Boolean functions which are generated by other similar recursive methods.

CORRELATION FUNCTIONS OF THE ABELL, APM, AND X-RAY CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES

  • We have measured the correlation functions of the optically selected clusters of galaxies in the Abell and the APM catalogs, and of the X-ray clusters in the X-ray-Brightest Abell-type Clusters of galaxies (XBACs) catalog and the Brightest Clusters Sample (BCS). The same analysis method and the same method of characterizing the resulting correlation functions are applied to all observational samples. We have found that the amplitude of the correlation function of the APM clusters is much higher than what has been previously claimed, in particular for richer subsamples. The correlation length of the APM clusters with the richness R $\ge$ 70 (as defined by the APM team) is found to be $r_0 = 25.4_{-3.0}^{+3.1}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc. The amplitude of correlation function is about 2.4 times higher than that of Croft et al. (1997). The correlation lengths of the Abell clusters with the richness class RC $\ge$ 0 and 1 are measured to be $r_0 = 17.4_{-1.1}^{+1.2}$ and $21.0_{-2.8}^{+2.8}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc, respectively, which is consistent with our results for the APM sample at the similar level of richness. The richness dependence of cluster correlations is found to be $r_0= 0.40d_c + 3.2$ where $d_c$ is the mean intercluster separation. This is identical in slope with the Bahcall & West (1992)'s estimate, but is inconsistent with the weak dependence of Croft et al. (1997). The X-ray bright Abell clusters in the XBACs catalog and the X-ray selected clusters in the BCS catalog show strong clustering. The correlation length of the XBACs clusters with $L_x {\ge}0.65{\times} 10^{44}\;h^{-2}erg\;s^{-1}$ is $30.3_{-6.5}^{+8.2}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc, and that of the BCS clusters with $L_x {\ge}0.70{\times} 10^{44}\;h^{-2}erg\;s^{-1}$ is $30.2_{-8.9}^{+9.8}\;h^{-1}$ Mpc. The clustering strength of the X-ray clusters is much weaker than what is expected from the optical clusters.

Relationships between Psychotic Symptoms and Cognitive Functions in Schizophrenic Patients (정신분열병 환자에서 정신병적 증상과 인지기능의 관련성)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate relationships between psychotic symptoms and cognitive functions in schizophrenia. Methods : The study group was composed of 36 schizophrenic patients. Positive, negative, and disorganization symptoms were assessed using the PANSS. Verbal, visuospatial, attention, memory, and executive functions were assessed using a battery of cognitive tests. Results : Correlation analysis between symptom vs. cognitive measures showed that (a) positive symptoms were significantly correlated with no cognitive measures, (b) negative symptoms were significantly correlated with all cognitive measures, and (c) disorganization symptoms were significantly correlated with executive and memory measures. Correlation analyses between symptom vs. cognitive factors showed that negative-disorganization factor is significantly correlated with executive-memory factor. Conclusion : Significant relationships were confined mostly to frontal symptoms vs. frontal cognitive functions. Thus, the relationships may be mediated mainly by variations in severity of frontal pathology among patients.
