  • Microphone array beamforming method has been recognized as an important aeroacoustic research field and become a standard technique in localizing sound sources. This method also used in flight acoustic measurement, and especially, it is very useful when measure sounds inside the wind tunnel. In measuring sound which is inside the wind tunnel by traditional beamforming method, there are some errors caused by airstream. The speed and the propagation path of the sound changes as it travel through the airstream. This makes the error which the position of sound is changed a little bit to the down stream direction. In this paper, validation test has made about the correction equation for this wind effects of previous researches. And beamforming including shear layer correction was performed about a sound source in the anechoic open-jet windtunnel.

  • Optical distortion of experimental results can be found in many studies. Thus, a method of the optical correction for visualization of an axisymmetric droplet was developed in this study. The correction method was derived to extract refracted vectors. In order to obtain the refracted vectors, a projection vector and a normal vector should be calculated. Then, a distortion distance can be found by the calculated refracted vector and Snell's law. The developed method was also verified by the simulation and the experimental results to apply for a liquid droplet which was formed at a nozzle tip.

  • When the planar area is captured by the depth camera, the shape of the plane in the captured image has perspective projection distortion according to the position of the camera. We can correct the distorted image by the depth information in the plane in the captured area. Previous depth information based perspective distortion correction methods fail to satisfy the real-time property due to a large amount of computation. In this paper, we propose the method of applying the conversion table selectively by measuring the motion of the plane and performing the correction process by parallel processing for correcting perspective projection distortion. By appling the proposed method, the system for correcting perspective projection distortion correct the distorted image, whose resolution is 640x480, as 22.52ms per frame, so the proposed system satisfies the real-time property.

  • In this paper, a new Scene-based Nonuniformity Correction (SBNUC) method is proposed by applying Image Roughness-like and Spatial Noise cost functions on deep neural network structure. The classic approaches for nonuniformity correction require generally plenty of sequential image data sets to acquire accurate image correction offset coefficients. The proposed method, however, is able to estimate offset from only a couple of images powered by the characteristic of deep neural network scheme. The real world SWIR image set is applied to verify the performance of proposed method and the result shows that image quality improvement of PSNR 70.3dB (maximum) is achieved. This is about 8.0dB more than the improved IRLMS algorithm which preliminarily requires precise image registration process on consecutive image frames.

  • The considered satellite is supposed to operate in the earth-point mode and sun-point mode in accordance with the mission requirements. The magnetic field correction is based on the orbit geometry using a set of measured magnetic field data from the three-axis-magnetometer and its algorithm excludes the earth’s magnetic field model. Moreover, the usefulness of the proposed method is investigated throughout the simulation of KOMPSAT-1.

  • Two cases of surgical correction of funnel chest using metal struts were presented. The main procedures of the method were transverse submammary incision, subperichondrial resection of the deformed costal cartilages, division of the xiphisternal joint, wedge osteotomy of the sternum, freeing of the posterior surface of the sternum and stabilization by means of 2 metal struts. The struts were removed postoperative 3 and 6 months by a small incision under the local anesthesia. The results in both patients were satisfactory. This method of correction is simple, easy to perform and free of any operative risks.

  • Skew is inevitably occurred in a scanned document image Thus, character recognition systems are generally very sensitive to a skew angle. In this paper, we propose a robust slant correction algorithm based on dithering and estimating vortical transition. Character strings are segmented by projecting the vertical transition point and the slant corrected image. The segmentation method using the vertical transition point can effectively split the character strings touching vertically each other. Experimental results show that the proposed method has achieved robust slant correction and good performance of character string segmentation.

  • This paper provides a new application similar to the Local Defect Correction (LDC) technique to solve Poisson problem -u"(x) = f(x) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The exact solution is supposed to have high activity in some region of the domain. LDC is combined with a fourth order compact scheme which is recently developed in Abbas (Num. Meth. Partial differential equations, 2013). Numerical tests illustrate the interest of this application.

  • In this paper, we present the error control techniques for the error correction methods (ECM) which is recently developed by P. Kim et al. [8, 9]. We formulate the local truncation error at each time and calculate the approximated solution using the solution and the formulated truncation error at previous time for achieving uniform error bound which enables a long time simulation. Numerical results show that the error controlled ECM provides a clue to have uniform error bound for well conditioned problems [1].
