  • The heat transfer processes taking place in the side wall of a thermocline enclosure have been analyzed for idealized conditions based on the assumption that, at any instant time, side wall heat transfer processses are independent of the thermocline bulk motion. However, the axial tempera-ture distribution in the thermocline core provides the means for specifying the liquid medium-side boundary condition to the enclosure side wall. A picture is drawn which reflects the side wan response to thermocline bulk motion within the frame work of a quasi-steady analytic approach. For valves of the parameters typical of systems of engineering interest, the analysis shows that a significant amount of heat transfer short - circuiting can take place along the side wall enclosure. This phenomenon is favored by high values of $H_l$ and low values of P and $H_g$ respec-tively. The location of the point of zero normal heat flux on the side wan can be expected to mark, approximately, the region of confluence of two sidewall boundary flows respectively driven by the buoyant effects.

  • Dental CAD (computer-aided design)/CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) systems facilitate the use of zirconia core for all-ceramic crown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal and internal fit of zirconia core fabricated using a dental CAD/CAM system and to compare the fit of metal cores by a conventional method. Ten identical cases of single coping study models (abutment of teeth 11) were manufactured and scanned. Ten zirconia cores were fabricated using dental CAD/CAM system. An experienced dental technician fabricated 10 samples of metal cores for the control group using the lost wax technique. Marginal and internal fit was measured by the silicone replica technique. Fit was measured with magnification of 160 using a digital Microscope. Margin, rounded chamfer, axial wall and incisal fits were measured for comparison. T-test of independent sample for statistical analysis was executed with SPSS 12.0 for Windows (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) (${\alpha}$=0.05). The mean (SD) for marginal, rounded chamfer, axial wall and incisal were: $97.0\;(25.3){\mu}m$, $104.0\;(22.0){\mu}m$, $59.6\;(21.4){\mu}m$ and $124.8\;(33.3){\mu}m$ for the zirconia core group, and $785.2\;(18.4){\mu}m$, $83.8\;(15.1){\mu}m$, $42.7\;(9.6){\mu}m$ and $83.4\;(14.4){\mu}m$ for the metal core group. T-test showed significant differences between groups for margin (p<.001), rounded chamfer (p<.001), axial wall (p<.001) and incisal (p<.001). But zirconia core group observed that the marginal and internal fit values in the present study were within clinically acceptable range.

  • A new advanced safety feature of DVI+ (Direct Vessel Injection Plus) for the APR+ (Advanced Power Reactor Plus), to mitigate the ECC (Emergency Core Cooling) bypass fraction and to prevent switching an ECC outlet to a break flow inlet during a DVI line break, is presented for an advanced DVI system. In the current DVI system, the ECC water injected into the downcomer is easily shifted to the broken cold leg by a high steam cross flow which comes from the intact cold legs during the late reflood phase of a LBLOCA (Large Break Loss Of Coolant Accident)For the new DVI+ system, an ECBD (Emergency Core Barrel Duct) is installed on the outside of a core barrel cylinder. The ECBD has a gap (From the core barrel wall to the ECBD inner wall to the radial direction) of 3/25~7/25 of the downcomer annulus gap. The DVI nozzle and the ECBD are only connected by the ECC water jet, which is called a hydrodynamic water bridge, during the ECC injection period. Otherwise these two components are disconnected from each other without any pipes inside the downcomer. The ECBD is an ECC downward isolation flow sub-channel which protects the ECC water from the high speed steam crossflow in the downcomer annulus during a LOCA event. The injected ECC water flows downward into the lower downcomer through the ECBD without a strong entrainment to a steam cross flow. The outer downcomer annulus of the ECBD is the major steam flow zone coming from the intact cold leg during a LBLOCA. During a DVI line break, the separated DVI nozzle and ECBD have the effect of preventing the level of the cooling water from being lowered in the downcomer due to an inlet-outlet reverse phenomenon at the lowest position of the outlet of the ECBD.

  • Conversion of the building can be a core strategy to activate the urban regeneration. Especially in the decayed district, the conversion or retrofit of old building can be a core catalyst to stimulate the urban regeneration. Throughout the case study, a conversion from office to dwelling, there were figured out the design strategies to respond to spatial, functional requirements. The results are as follows ; 1) The main design strategy is to articulate the space by embedding the wall, mass in the rectangular space. 2) to respond to the small size of space, the flexible, movable wall system Is adopted. This gives the selectiveness to the use of space. 3) to secure the livability of interior space, the buffer zone, a terrace space, is fully utilized. This space acts as thermal buffer zone as well as a semi-interior space.

  • Cypermethrin-containing polyurea microcapsules were prepared by interfacial polymerization using aromatic 2,4-toluene diisocyanate(TDI) and Ethylene diamine(EDA) as wall forming materials. The effects of the protective colloids of polyvinylalcohol(PVA) and gelatin were investigated through experimentation. The mean size of the polyurea microcapsules was smaller and the surface morphology of the PVA was much smoother than gelatin. In addition the release behavior was much more controlled and better sustained. As the concentration of protective colloid increased, the wall membrane of the polyurea microcapsules became more stable, the thermal stability of the wall membrane increased, the mean particle size became smaller, and the particle distribution was more uniform. The release behavior of the core material changed according to the concentration. As the gelatin concentration was increased, a more controlled and sustained release behavior was observed. However, in the case of PVA, the increase of PVA concentration lead to a more rapid release rate.

  • Honeycomb panel has a constructive advantage because it is constructed with a honeycomb core, so it has relatively higher strength ratio to weight. Therefore honeycomb panel has been used as the light weight panels in the high-speed railway technology and high-speed ship like as cruise yachts. Also it has been used in the aircraft and aerospace industry as a structural panel because light weight structure is indispensible in that field of industry. Recently, the honeycomb panel is embossed in the viewpoints of high oil prices as the lightweight panel of the transport machine, however the sound insulation capacity of the honeycomb panel is poorer than those of uniform and another sandwich panels. In this paper a method to improving the sound absorption coefficient of a honeycomb panel Is studied by using the Helmholtz resonator. The sound absorption coefficients for some kinds of honeycomb cores are demonstrated by the normal incident absorption coefficient method.
