  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the stresses and displacements of various esthetic restorations and abutment teeth. The finite element models of central incisor were divided into four groups according to the types of restoration. Three load cases were applied; 1) 45 degrees on the incisal edge, 2) horizontal force on the labial surface, and 3) 26 degrees diagonally on the lingual surface. Material property, geometry, and load conditions of each model were inputed to the two dimensional finite element program and stresses and displacements were analyzed. Results were as follows; 1. In the cases of porcelain fused gold ann and porcelain laminate venner, stresses were equally distributed in supporting abutment tooth. 2. The metal coping of porcelain fused gold u and collarless porcelain fused gold crown functioned as a good stress distributor. 3. When the horizontal load applied, the highest tensile and compressive stresses were seen in the cervical margin of restoration and the dentin of the abutment tooth. 4. The highest displacement of restoration was seen when load was applied at an mee of 26 degrees diagonally in lingual surface of tooth in centric occlusion. 5. The influence of loading direction on the stresses and displacements in the restoration was greater than that of various design. 6. The possibility of fracture was highest in porcelain jacket crown.

  • The wife-abuse is a seriously threatening factor with victim's wellbeing and health. This study was performed to analyze the victims' experiences of wife-abuse to prepare the basis of nursing intervention for them. The participants of study were 96 women who counseled with W counselling center for wife-abuse from January 1996 to August 1997 in Cheju. Data were gathered through the unstructured interviews(telephone, face-to-face and letter) by trained 3 members of the center. The collected data were analyzed to reveal the characteristics of wives and husbands, the modes of wife-abuse, the influences of abuse to wives and the coping styles of wives. The modes of wife-abuse were analyzed and classified using the power and control wheel model of Pence et al. The results of study unveiled that the wife-abuse behaviors were used to control the wife physically, sexually, economically, and psychologically and to maintain the abuse situation. We have to understand the dominant regime of our society, ie the patriarchy that controls the women's labor power, production power and personality, to approach the victims' of wife-abuse and to provide the proper nursing interventions for them.

  • This study investigates the impact of fiscal transfer, specifically the Village Fund Transfer, on rural income inequality and rural poverty. Studies on fiscal transfer offers contrasting outcomes, some argues that fiscal transfer suppresses wealth disparity, while others argue that it tends to widen disparity. This study employs descriptive analysis in estimating the elasticity of income inequality and poverty rate before and after the Village Fund Transfer. It develops multiple regressions model on panel datasets of 33 provinces in Indonesia before and after the implementation of Village Fund Transfer. This study suggests that the elasticity of income inequality is higher after the implementation of village fund transfer. Rural poverty tends to decline annually, however, the elasticity changes is lower after the implementation of village fund transfer. Furthermore, this study suggests that village fund transfer is insignificant in coping with the issue of income inequality, while education and the level of labor productivity of agricultural sector appears to be the determinant factor in tackling the issue of income inequality in the rural areas. This study further reveals the significance of village fund transfer in suppressing the rural poverty rate. This study also highlights the significance of human resources quality and agricultural sector in reducing poverty rate in rural areas.

  • Universal design has been disseminated as one of major paradigms in the 21st century throughout the world. Its definition and range of application have appeared somewhat differently from countries and cultures. Japan has been coping with aging phenomena in societies population, and now became aged society. Therefore, universal design has been a big social issue and its design development has tendency of focusing on design for the elderly population. Currently, Japanese housing in its aging society has shown various experiments to provide the elderly with safe and supportive environment to maintain and promote quality of their lives in conventional life settings. Korea already began to undergo this aging process, and now it's in aging society. This means especially designers need to show up their creativity to let design function as a means of social intervention. Therefore this research showed the range of universal design characteristics appeared in current Japanese housing market.
