Nonlinear control of a double-effect evaporator by riemannian geometric approach

  • The purpose of this paper is to present the details of design procedure of a nonlinear regulator by Riemannian geometric approach and to applied it to the case of a double-effect evaporator. A nonlinear geometric model is proposed on a direct sum space of a state vector and a control vector as well as in the previous parers by the authors. The geometric model is derived by replacing the orthogonal straight coordinate axes of a linear system on the direct sum space with the curvilinear coordinate axes. The integral manifold of the geometric model becomes homeomorphic to that of fictitious linear system. For the geometric model a nonlinear regulator with a performance index is designed renewedly by the procedure of optimization. The construction method of the curvilinear coordinate axes on which the nonlinear system behaves as a linear system is discussed. To apply the above regulator theory to double-effect evaporators especially to the pilot plant at the University of Alberta, a suitable nonlinear model is determined by the plant dynamics. The optimal control law is derived through the calculation of the homeomorphism. As a result it is confirmed that the regulator is effective and superior to that of the conventional control.

  • This paper presents an algorithm of the watermark insertion and extraction on the vector image. Most parts of the vector image consist of the array of the coordinate values. The vector watermarking method by Sakamoto et al [1] uses the mask within which all the coordinate values of all the vertices are changed depending on the value of the watermark. The proposed algorithm is the change of the vector image file instead of the change of the coordinate values on the vector image. We use the Drawing Exchange Format (DXF) files since the DXF file is one of the general files in the field of the vector image.

  • The mathematical model of a three-phase voltage source pulse-width modulation (PWM) DC/AC inverter is non-linear, and in view of the traditional linear control strategy it can not meet the requirements of designing a high-performance inverter. What's more, when the loads are not pure resistive loads, the inverter further requires that the controller possess high-performance. This paper proposes a nonlinear control strategy for the inverter called Passivity-based Control. We can alter the inverter model in three-phase abc coordinate to two-phase synchronous rotating dq coordinate for establishing the port-control Hamiltonian (PCH) model for this system. We can control the distribution of energy in the system to achieve the control aim. Simulation results show that the passivity-based control method can make this system possess a level of high-performance that is both robust and dynamic.

  • This paper presents a novel current control system to eliminate the steady state control error for PWM AC-DC converter. A general mathematical model of the converter which is represented as a state-space model is established. The state-space model is used for the simulation of converter with the proposed tracking control system of sinusoidal current. In this system, a novel current control which do not require coordinate transformations using internal principle of PI controller is described. It is proved that the steady state deviation reduce to zero through a transfer function of source current control system. Finally, simulations show good source current control characteristics by means of a simplified control system which do not require coordinate transformations.

A Study on Computation of Unified Coordinate of Cadastral Control Points over the Field with Different Surveying Origins (기타원점지역 지적측량기준점의 통일 좌표 산출 연구)

  • The coordinate of cadastral control points located over the area of different surveying origins is computed in a single surveying origin by trilateration adjustment of GPS baseline measurements. In every different surveying origins, well-matched control points are selected and mutually coinciding coordinates are computed by free network adjustment. Then, the coordinate of the other control points over the area is computed by joining these points to the adjusted points. In practice, by using 18 points of Gari, 17 points of Gyeyang, and 33 points of Central origin in Incheon, the coordinates of total 68 points in every surveying origin are computed. Between the points of different surveying origins, it is found that there are quantitative differences in azimuth and scale factors and the approximate point coordinate of other surveying origins is calculated by correcting the scale and azimuth.

  • We propose a result on the stabilization of nonlinear time-delay systems via the feedback linearization method. Using the predictor based control and the parametric coordinate transformation, we introduce a stabilizing controller to compensate time delay. Specifically, we present the delay-dependent stability analysis to makes the considered system stable. Also, an illustrative example is provided

  • This paper proposes a current control method in synchronous coordinate for vector control of PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). In order to control the PMSM by MTPA(Maximum Torque per Ampere), it is necessary to generate the rotating magnetic field to be $90^{\circ}$ with the magnetic field of the rotor, and the current control is necessary. To apply the current control to PMSM, the phase of the current command is also changed in accordance with the change of the position of the motor rotor. In this paper, the control of PMSM is performed through simulation using DC current command in synchronous coordinate system.

  • In the present study, a new method of generating a nearly orthogonal boundary-fitted coordinate systems with automatic grid spacing control is introduced. Applications of the method to a two dimensional simply-connected region is then demonstrated. The nearly orthogonal boundary-fitted method has the following features, (a) Strong grid control in the .eta.-direction can be made, (b) The generated boundary-fitted coordinates are nearly orthoronal, (c) Both the .xi.-and .eta.-direction control function are mathematically derived. Especially the .eta.-direction control function is derived under the assumption that the .eta.-direction grid spacing is by far smaller than the .xi.-direction grid spacing when the .eta.-direction grid line is strongly clustered. (d) The grid control functions are dynamically adjusted by the metric scale factors imposed on the boundary. The control function is fully automatic and eliminates the need of user manipulation of the control function.

  • The objective of this paper is to realize an analysis system that is capable of controlling the quality of an entire cutting process by including a 3 coordinate measuring machine in the process line. Fuzzy reasoning networks based on fuzzy associative memories has been intro- duced in the measuring process, the control limits for the control process have been obtained, and the efficiency and reliability of the system have been determined by examining the simu- lated reasoning control values.

Transformation UIS DB and Determination of Coordinates Transformation Coefficients for Wonju City with Translation of Nation Geodetic Datum (국가측지좌표계 전환에 따른 변환계수 결정 및 도시기반정보 데이터베이스 변환 -원주시를 대상으로-)

  • With the use of world geodetic system, the UIS DB of WonJu City, which was established on Korea coordinate system becomes to face the need of coordinates transformation. However, the UIS DB of Wonju City is based on dualistic control points of Korea geodetic system, which means the coordinates system is not standardized. Therefore it is required to establish a plan for transformation into world geodetic system. For this purpose, we calculated coordinate transformation coefficients per control point data of Korea geodetic system and verified the accuracy of transformation coefficients. Through the process, we propose a plan for transforming the coordinate system of UIS DB in WonJu City, which has been based on dualistic control point data of Korea geodetic system, efficiently into the world geodetic system.
