직선형 프로세스 파이프 내면 오버레이 GTAW 용접시스템 개발 (A Development of Overlay GTAW Welding System for Pipe Inside Straight Process)

  • In this research, GTA overlay welding system is developed for inside of straight pipes in various diameter. It can be applied to oil, ship building and plant industry, especially pipes connected to pressure vessels, for the purpose of cost reduction by cladding inside of pipes with corrosion and heat resistant alloys such as stainless steel or Inconel. Developed system consists of GTA power source, torch, wire feeding system, automatic arc length adjusting device, CCD camera and cooling unit. Two types of pipe inside overlay welding system are developed. One is for maximum 3m pipe length with 3 inch ~ 12 inch pipe outer diameter. Another type can be applied to maximum 12m pipe length with 7 ~ 24 inch OD. Developed system successfully produced inside cladded pipe and the results are shown through cross sectional images of the pipes.

선박배출 배기냉각과 흡수식이 결합된 하이브리드 시스템을 통한 물 회수 및 미세먼지 저감을 위한 기초실험연구 (Preliminary Experimental Study for Water Recovery and Particulate Matter Reduction through a Hybrid System that Combines Exhaust Cooling and Absorption from Ships)

  • 선박용 엔진에서 배출되는 배기가스에는 다량의 수분과 미세먼지를 포함하고 있다. 미세먼지에는 여과성 미세먼지와 배기 배출 후 액상으로 변화하는 응축성 미세먼지가 포함되어 있으며 배출 전에 걸러지는 고체상 미세먼지보다 응축성 미세먼지가 더 많은 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 배기가스의 배기열과 수분을 회수하고 응축성 미세먼지를 제거하기 위한 실험장치를 실험실 내의 가스보일러 배기가스를 이용하여 테스트 하였다. 배기가스는 1차적으로 냉각방식으로 수분과 응축성 미세먼지가 제거되고 2차적으로 흡수제 방식에 의해 추가적으로 수분이 제거되었다. 상대습도 측정에 의한 배기가스 수분 제거율을 계산하면 1단계 배기냉각 방식으로 73%, 2단계 흡수제 방식으로 90% 제거되는 것으로 측정되었다. 이 과정에서 응축성 미세먼지는 80~90% 제거되는 것으로 측정되었다. 개발 시스템에 의해 회수된 열은 공정열로 활용할 수 있으며, 회수된 물은 수처리 과정을 통해 공정수로 활용할 수 있다. 또한 현재 관리 규제가 되고 있지 않지만 미세먼지의 주요 원인인 응축성 미세먼지를 효과적으로 제거할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Conceptual Design of a 10 HP Homopolar Motor with Superconducting Windings

  • Superconducting motor has a lot of benefits from high power density for ship propulsions, so a number of research project are in progress worldwide. Despite of all the benefits, there is always a difficulty of cryo-moving part for conventional air-core superconducting synchronous motors. In order to get rid of this moving cryogenic part, we propose a homopolar superconducting synchronous motor, which has high temperature superconducting armature and field coils. The rotor is supposed to be made of iron only and excited by the stationary HTS field coils. The stationary field coils make the cooling system simple and easy to realize because there is no cryo-moving part. A design result of a 10 hp homopolar synchronous motor is presented in this paper. The self and mutual inductance of the motor having the size of air gap as variable parameter are calculated by a 3-dimemsional finite element method. The value of design variables such as the dimension of a motor and the number of turns, etc. is decided by performing the coordinate transformation of the calculated inductance. The operating frequency is supposed to be below 5 Hz for low rotating speed which is needed for a purpose of ship propulsion. Low frequency also has the benefit of low AC losses.

주성분 분석을 통한 선박 기관 상태의 차수 축소 모델링 (Reduced Order Modeling of Marine Engine Status by Principal Component Analysis)

  • The present study concerns reduced order modeling of a marine diesel engine, which can be used for outlier detection in status monitoring and carbon intensity index calculation. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is introduced for the reduced order modeling, focusing on the feasibility of detecting and treating nonlinear variables. By cross-correlation, it is found that there are seven non-linear data channels among 23 data channels, i.e., fuel mode, exhaust gas temperature after the turbocharger, and cylinder coolant temperatures. The dataset is handled so that the mean is located at the nominal continuous rating. Polynomial presentation of the dataset is also applied to reflect the linearity between the engine speed and other channels. The first principal mode shows strong effects of linearity of the most data channels to show the linearity of the system. The non-linear variables are effectively explained by other modes. second mode concerns the temperature of the cylinder cooling water, which shows small correlation with other variables. The third and fourth modes correlates the fuel mode and turbocharger exhaust gas temperature, which have inferior linearity to other channels. PCA is proven to be applicable to data given in binary type of fuel mode selection, as well as numerical type data.

AL계 희생양극에 의한 2종스테인리스 강축의 음극방식 실용화 연구 (Study of Practical Cathodic Protection of 2nd Class Stainless Steel Shaft by means of Al Sacrificial Anode)

  • In the case of hull material. large sized merchant ships are made of steel, on the other hand FRP or wood are used for small sized fishing boats. At present in Korea approximately 88,500 fishing boats are in operation of which 70% are made of FRP In the meantime, stainless steel is frequently used as shaft materials of the small-size FRP fishing boat. Namely, the kinds of shaft materials are STS 304(18Cr-8Ni), STS 316(18Cr-12Ni-2.5Mo steel) and STS 630(17Cr-Ni-Nb steel)etc. Among these things, STS 304 which is the cheapest and having ordinary corrosion resistance is most widely used as 2nd class shaft material. But, using STS 304 for shaft system material of the small-size FRP fishing boat on seawater environments entails a severe corrosion which causes shaft system troubles. Particularly, the corrosions tend to be concentrated of the stern and bow side, propeller shaft surface of inside of stern tube and the boat having no stern cooling pipe line system. As a solution for those problems, research on the ways to mitigate corrosion on the part of 2nd class stainless steel shaft have been undertaken. In the result, not only clarification for the reason of corrosion of the part of stainless steel shaft used mainly for the small-size FRP fishing boat was done, but also most optimal corrosion protection system was developed by experimenting shaft's protection simulation based of the electrochemical cathodic protection principle. In addition, verification through the field test on the optimal cathodic corrosion protection method by means of aluminum sacrificial anode was carried out. In this study, effective and economical shaft's protection system is suggested to the small-size FRP fishing boat operator by substantiating the results obtained from the research on the optimal cathodic protection.

선박의 해수 온도차를 이용한 ORC 발전 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ship's ORC Power System using Seawater Temperature Difference)

  • 본 논문에서는 선박에서 배출되는 $CO_2$ 배출을 최소화하기 위한 노력의 일환으로 선박에서 배출되는 열에너지를 회수하고 재활용하여 극대화 시킬 수 있는 방안들을 조사하고 버려지는 열에너지를 이용하여 ORC(Organic Rankine Cycle) 발전장치를 구동함으로써 선박의 에너지 효율을 높이고 온실가스 배출을 최소화할 수 있는 방안들을 연구하였다. 선박에서 배출되는 배기가스의 폐열을 열원으로 하는 유기냉매 랭킨사이클을 구성하는 방안과 열에너지 비중은 높지만 상대적으로 낮은 온도인 해수냉각 시스템으로 배출되는 열에너지를 재활용하여 터빈 발전기를 구동하는 ORC 발전시스템을 설계하고 시뮬레이션 하였다. 시스템 해석 결과 배기가스에서는 1,000kW급, 해수 냉각 시스템에서는 650kW급 발전 출력을 얻을 수 있었고, 다양한 친환경 유기냉매를 이용하여 온도와 유량 조건에 따른 열 해석을 실시하여 시스템의 효율과 출력을 비교하였다.

  • 펌프는 산업 및 건설현장에 급수, 냉난방 및 산업공정에서 다양하게 사용되고 있으며, 전체 국가 전력의 약 20%를 소비하고 있다. 하지만 에너지 낭비요소에 대한 관리는 거의 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 만일 효율이 저하된 상태로 펌프가 운전된다면 그의 에너지 낭비는 대단히 크게 된다. 펌프의 경우 초기 구입비용에 비해 사용하면서 발생하는 전력비용이 대단히 크기 때문에 이러한 낭비를 줄이기 위해서는 펌프의 효율을 정기적으로 측정하여 펌프의 운전 상태를 진단함으로써 펌프의 최적운전상태 및 교환주기 등을 제시할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 펌프의 효율측정을 위해 열역학적 방법과 수력학적 방법(전통적인 방법)의 두 가지 방법으로 측정할 수 있는 장비에 대해서 소개하고 실제 펌프의 효율을 계산하여 그 유효성을 확인하였다.

해수와 청수환경에서 선박용 원심펌프 임펠러 재료의 캐비테이션 특성 (Cavitation Characteristics on Impeller Materials of Centrifugal Pump for Ship in Sea Water and Fresh Water)

  • The fresh water and sea water in present ships is used as cooling water for marine engine. Therefore, corrosion damage in seawater system is frequently occurred. In particular, in the impeller of pump, the performance and material span due to the corrosion and cavitation erosion has adverse effects. Most of the pump impellers in vessels are used Cu-Al alloy. Cu-Al alloy which having the excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance is widely used in marine environments. However, despite the excellent characteristics, the periodic replacement parts due to the cavitation damage in seawater is vulnerable to economic viewpoint. In this study, Cu-Al alloy used with impeller for centrifugal pump were conducted various experiments to evaluate its characteristics in seawater and fresh water solutions. As an electrochemical result, the dynamic conditions that exposed to the cavitation environment presented high corrosion current density with collapse of the cavity compared with the static conditions. Cavitation test results, the weightloss and weightloss rate in fresh water are observed more than those of seawater.

부하추종 냉각수 시스템의 온도 제어를 위한 유전알고리즘 기반 비선형 PID 제어기 설계 (Genetic algorithm-based design of a nonlinear PID controller for the temperature control of load-following coolant systems)

  • In this study, the load fluctuation of the main engine is considered to be a disturbance for the jacket coolant temperature control system of the low-speed two-stroke main diesel engine on the ships. A nonlinear PID temperature control system with satisfactory disturbance rejection performance was designed by rapidly transmitting the load change value to the controller for following the reference set value. The feed-forwarded load fluctuation is considered the set points of the dual loop control system to be changed. Real-coded genetic algorithms were used as an optimization tool to tune the gains for the nonlinear PID controller. ITAE was used as an evaluation function for optimization. For the evaluation function, the engine jacket coolant outlet temperature was considered. As a result of simulating the proposed cascade nonlinear PID control system, it was confirmed that the disturbance caused by the load fluctuation was eliminated with satisfactory performance and that the changed set value was followed.

  • The refrigerant-induced noise of the air conditioner is one of the irregular noises which occurs at the indoor unit. Because the air-conditioner makers are always trying to reduce the sound pressure level radiated from indoor unit, reducing the refrigerant-induced noise at low cooling mode is very important problem. But it is very difficult to estimate whether the refrigerant-induced noise occurs or not before it becomes problem. In this paper, a method to predict the refrigerant-induced noise is suggested using flow pattern map. It is estimated that the irregular noise from the refrigerant comes from the slug flow in a pipe.
