Measures to control deformation in deep excavation for cut and cover tunneling

  • The bored tunneling method is generally preferred for urban tunnel construction, However the cut & cover tunnel is still necessary for special conditions, such as metro station and access structures. In some case, deep excavation for cut & cover construction is planed of irregular and unusual shape, as a consequence, the convex and concave corner is often encountered during that excavation. In particular, discontinuity or imbalance of the support structure in the convex corner can lead to collapse, which may result in damages and casualties. In this study, the behavior of the convex corner of retaining structure were investigated using 3-dimensional numerical models established to be able to simulate the split-shaped behavior of convex corners. To improve the stability in the vicinity of the convex corner, several stabilizing measures were proposed and estimated numerically. It is found that linking two discretized wales at the convex corner can effectively perform the control of deformation. Furthermore, it was also confirmed that the stabilizing measures can be enhanced when the tie-material linking two discretized wales is installed at the depth of the maximum wall deflection.

  • Anisotropic TMAH etching is key processing step for the fabrication of pendulum structure. During the etching, convex corners are attacked, and a proper compensating structure design is required when fabricating pendulum structures with sharp convex corner. In this paper, we present four compensation structures for convex corner compensation with 30% wt TMAH-water solution at $89\pm1^{\circ}C$ temperature, and observe the etched convex corner by optical microscope. we compare the result of calculations and experiments about four convex corner compensation patterns.

  • When a robot navigates in the real environment, it frequently meets various environments that can be expressed by simple geometrical shapes such as fiat floor, uneven floor, floor with obstacles, slopes, concave or convex corners, etc. Among them, the convex corner composed of two plain surfaces is the most difficult one for the robot to negotiate. In this paper, we propose a gait planning algorithm to help the robot overcome the convex environment. The trajectory of the body is derived from the maximum distance between the edge boundary of the corner and the bottom of the robot when it travels in the convex environment. Additionally, we find the relation between kinematical structure of the robot and its ability of avoiding collision. The relation is realized by considering the workspace and the best posture of the robot in the convex structure. To provide necessary information for the algorithm, we use an IR sensor attached in the leg of the robot to perceive the convex environment. The validity of the gait planning algorithm is verified through simulations and the performance is demonstrated using a quadruped walking robot, called "MRWALLSPECT III"( Multifunctional Robot for WALL inSPECTion version 3).

Effect of Reynolds number on compressible convex-corner flows

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effect of Reynolds number on compressible convex-corner flows, which correspond to an upper surface of a deflected flap of an aircraft wing. The flow is naturally developed along a flat plate with two different lengths, resulting in different incoming boundary layer thicknesses or Reynolds numbers. It is found that boundary layer Reynolds number, ranging from $8.04{\times}10^4$ to $1.63{\times}10^5$, has a minor influence on flow expansion and compression near the corner apex in the transonic flow regime, but not for the subsonic expansion flow. For shock-induced separated flow, higher peak pressure fluctuations are observed at smaller Reynolds number, corresponding to the excursion phenomena and the shorter region of shock-induced boundary layer separation. An explicit correlation of separation length with deflection angle is also presented.

축대칭 하향단 흐름에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Flow Behind an Axisymmetric Backward-Facing Step)

  • Local mean fluctuating velocity components were measured in the separating and reattaching axisymmetrc region of turbulent boundary layer over the wall of convex cylinders placed in a water tunnel by using 2-color 4-beam fiber optics laser Doppler velocimetry. Measurements were made with three different diameters of cylinders with four different diameters of cylinders with four different diameter of the obstructions. The range of Reynolds number based on step height was between 5,000 to 25,200. The study demonstrates that the reattachment length decreases with decreasing cylinder radius and is always shorter than that for the two-dimensional backward-facing step flow at the condition of the same step height. It was also observed that the turbulent kinetic energy in the recirculating region increases with an increases in the radius of convex curvature. The measured velocity field suggests that the transverse curvature can effect definitely the formation of corner eddy.

레이저 코너 패턴의 매칭을 이용한 이동 로봇의 EKF 기반 SLAM (EKF-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping of Mobile Robot using Laser Corner Pattern Matching)

  • In this paper, we propose an extended Kalman filter(EKF)-based simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) method using laser corner pattern matching for mobile robots. SLAM is one of the most important problems of mobile robot. However, existing method has the disadvantage of increasing the computation time, depending on the number of landmarks. To improve computation time, we produce the corner pattern using classified and detected corner points. After producing the corner patterns, it is estimated that mobile robot's global position by matching them. The estimated position is used as measurement model in the EKF. To evaluated proposed method, we preformed the experiments in the indoor environments. Experimental results of proposed method are shown to maintain an accuracy and decrease the computation time.

Region-based Corner Detection by Radial Projection

  • We propose a novel method which detects convex and concave corners using radial projection. The sum of two neighbors' differences at the local maxima or minima of the radial projection is compared with the angle threshold for detecting corners. In addition, the use of oriented bounding box trees and partial circles makes it possible to detect the corners of complex shapes. The experimental results show that the proposed method can separately detect the convex and concave corners, and that this method is scale invariant.

  • An elliptic grid generation scheme using Laplace's equations guarantees the resulting grids to be crossing-free as a result of maximum principle in its analytic form. Numerical results, however, often show the grid lines overlapping each other or crossing the boundaries, especially for very sharp convex corners. The cause of this problem is investigated, and it is found that this problem can be handled by properly modifying the coefficients of transformed Laplace's equations in the computational domain.

Three-Dimensional Limit Equilibrium Stability Analysis of the Irregularly Shaped Excavation Comer with Skew Soil Nailing System

  • 사면보강 또는 굴착면의 안정성 확보를 위해 쏘일례일링 공법이 종종 적용되고 있다. 그러나 오목형태 또는 볼록형태 모서리부와 같은 특수한 지역에 쏘일네일링 공법이 적용되어질 경우, 편기각보강형태, 즉 skew 쏘일네일 형태로 주로 시공쥐고 있다. 하지만, 지금까지 skew 쏘일례일링 공법이 적용된 굴착 모서리부에 대한 3차원 안정해석 및 거동분석 등에 대한 실험이나 연구결과는 미흡한 실정이며, 따라서 보강재의 배치형태, 삽입각도 및 길이 등 관련 설계변수값 결정에 관하여 주로 경험에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 따글윽 본 연구의 주된 목적은, skew 쏘일네일링 공법이 오목형태 굴착 모서리부에 적용되는 경우 이에 대한 3차원 한계평형 안정성 평가기법을 제시하는 데 있다. 3차원 예상 파괴흙쐐기의 형상은 FLAC 프로그램 모델링 및 해석을 통해 결정하였으며, 모서리부에 대한 3차원 침투수압 산정식의 제시 및 해석시 다층지반조건의 고려 등이 포함되었다. 또한 제시된 3차원 안정해석법 을 이용해, 관련 설계변수들의 모서리부 안정성에 미치는 영향 정도를 분석하였다. 아울러 기 제시된 볼록형태 굴착 모서리부의 3차원 안정해석 법을 이용해 skew 쏘일네일 보강패턴의 효율성을 분석하였으며, 또한 굴착과정을 통해 전면부 벽체변위 및 인접지반의 침하 등이 상대적으로 문 제시되는 볼록형태 굴착 모서리부에 대한 변위예측을 위해 준 3차원 유한요소 해석기법 및 중첩기법 등의 적용을 시도하였다.

  • 제안 논문은 x-ray 입력영상에서 관심부위 영역을 추출해 참조이미지와 비교하는 경우가 발생한다. x-ray영상의 모양은 같지만 대상의 크기나 방향 및 위치가 서로 다르게 촬영되어 나타나게 된다. 이와 같이 동일 대상에 대해 서로 다른 영상이 입력될 경우 영상의 유사도 측정법을 이용해 명암의 발기 차이를 측정한다. 또한 거리 측정은 x-ray 데이터의 벡터좌표(x,y,z)를 가지고 두 점간의 거리를 계산한다. 제안 방식은 기존 방식에 비해 관심영역 추출의 정확도 향상과 참조이미지 매칭 수행시간이 효율적임을 실험을 통해 증명하였다.
