DC-Link Active Power Filter for High-Power Single-Phase PWM Converters

  • Single phase converters suffer from ripple power pulsating at twice the line frequency. The ripple power is usually absorbed by a bulky capacitor bank and/or a dedicative LC resonant link, resulting in a low power density and a high cost. An alternative solution is using a dc link active power filter (APF) to direct the pulsating power into another energy-storage component. The main dc link filter capacitor can then be reduced substantially. Based on a mainstream dc APF topology, this paper proposed a new control strategy incorporating both dual-loop control and repetitive control. The circuit parameter design is also re-examined from a control point of view. The proposed APF scheme has better control performance, and is more suited for high power applications since it works in CCM and with a low switching frequency.

  • Recently, Power Conditioning System (PCS) tends to require more compact, higher efficiency and power density with better performance. A novel topology consisted of LLC resonant inverter and Low Frequency (LF) cyclo-converter for connecting to utility line is able to meet these requirements. The technical operating analysis is described and 1kW prototype is tested and verified the performances through connecting the 110Vac 60Hz utility line. Efficient results are described.

A Dynamic Power Distribution Strategy for Large-scale Cascaded Photovoltaic Systems

  • The cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel converter is a promising topology for large-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems. The output voltage over-modulation derived by the inter-module active power imbalance is one of the key issues for CHB PV systems. This paper proposed a dynamic power distribution strategy to eliminate the over-modulation in a CHB PV system by suitably redistributing the reactive power among the inverter modules of the CHB PV system. The proposed strategy can effectively extend the operating region of the CHB PV system with a simple control algorithm and easy implementation. Simulation and experimental results carried out on a seven-level CHB grid-connected PV system are shown to validate the proposed strategy.

  • This paper presents an adaptive control scheme of a ballast for HID lamp for an automotive headlight. A flyback converter is used for the voltage step-up and for the control. A full bridge inverter is used as a ballast topology. The proposed control method is an adaptive output power control with a charge control. The developed ballast satisfies the requirement of a fast warm up characteristics and operating stability for an automotive application.

  • 본 논문에서는 다수의 고주파 단상 변압기를 사용하여 다수의 독립된 직류 전압원을 만들 수 있는, 여러 다이오드 정류기와 연결된 풀 브릿지 DC-DC 컨버터에 대한 분석 및 제어 기법을 제안한다. 본 토폴로지의 경우 제어 대상인 2차단 직류단이 다수이지만 1차단 스위칭 회로가 하나의 풀 브릿지 회로이기 때문에 2차단 전압의 개별 제어를 위한 자유도가 부족하다. 이에 따라 다수 직류단 전압의 평균 값을 제어하는 방식이 사용된다. 이때, 각 직류단에 다른 용량의 부하가 연결되어 있는 상황에 대하여 상세한 분석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 제시된 토폴로지(Topology)를 하드 스위칭 기반의 DCM(Discontinuous Conduction Mode) 및 CCM(Continuous Conduction Mode) 동작의 경우에 대해 분석한다. 이를 바탕으로, 직류단 전압 제어를 위한 전향 보상 및 안티 와인드업을 포함하는 Integral and Proportional (IP) 제어기를 구성하고, 제어기 이득 및 전향 보상을 수식화 한다. 최종적으로 구해지는 제어기의 전달 함수를 통해, 제어기가 정확하게 설계되었는지 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션으로 검증한다.

A Novel Switching Mode for High Power Factor Correction and Low THD

  • A new switching mode has been proposed to obtain high power factor and low THD in single stage AC-DC converter. The conventional voltage mode control in critical conduction mode distorts input current shape with poor THD in flyback topology. Once TRIAC dimmer is connected, visible flicker in the LED lamp is easily detected due to a lack of TRAIC holding current near the input voltage zero cross. The newly proposed method can shape the input current by providing a desired reference voltage so that low THD is obtained by ideal sinusoidal input current in case of no dimmer connection and flat input current performs good TRIAC dimmer compatibility in phase-cut dimming condition. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, theoretical analysis and experimental result from 8W dimmable LED lighting system are presented.

  • 본 논문은 해상풍력단지와 같은 대용량 신재생에너지를 송전하는데 적합한 전압형 HVDC(High Voltage DC) 중에서, 최근 실용화되어 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있는 Modular Multi-level Converter HVDC(MMC HVDC)에 대한 새로운 토폴로지를 제안한 내용이다. 대표적인 MMC HVDC는 독일의 R. Marquardt 교수가 제안한 Half-Bridge 모듈을 적용하여 MMC를 구현하는 방식으로 이는 계통에 DC 지락 사고가 발생할 경우 컨버터를 구성하는 모듈에 큰 고장 전류가 흐르게 되고 결국 모듈의 주요 구성품인 IGBT가 소손 될 수 있는 약점을 지니고 있다. 이를 보완하기 위해 각 모듈에 Thyristor를 삽입하거나 새로운 모듈을 적용하는 방식이 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 DC 지락 고장시 큰 고장 전류를 차단할 수 있는 새로운 모듈 구성을 제안하였다. 또한 제안된 토폴로지에 대한 기본 동작을 설명하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 방식과 기존의 방식을 비교 분석 하였다.

  • 본 논문은 전기차량용 Onboard Charger(OBC)의 3병렬 운전시 3개의 단상 PFC와 3상 PFC 두가지 입력단 PFC 토플로지에 대하여 비교 및 분석을 진행하였다. 9.9kW급 OBC에서는 입력단 전원을 3상 전원으로 사용하여야 하기 때문에 PFC단에는 단상 PFC 3개를 모듈화하여 병렬로 사용할 수도 있고 3상 PFC를 하나로 구성할 수 있다. 각 토플로지 방식에서 인덕턴스 입력전류리플, DC단 커패시터 전류리플 등 면에서 이 두가지 구성방식에 대하여 비교분석을 진행하였다.

  • This paper is indicating the problems, which are the conduction loss on the high frequency transformer, the protection of rectification diode as the snubber loss and the stress of switching main devices, as be made high current and high speed in the phase-shift switching full-bridge DC-DC converter is used the power supply’s main circuit of high capacity. To improve those problems, in this paper, it is proposed that is the resonant circuit auxiliary can be reduced conduction losses and stabilized output control. And, it is constructed prototype of the power supply as the result of computer simulations.

  • On the active filter converter for power factor correction is used inverter for a air-conditioner's power supply to meet IEC standard In the active filter topology for power factor correction, extra switch only control the input current indirectly to satisfied with the IEC standard for reducing the cost and size. In this paper, by dividing the input current into two different modes, the current conduction period can be widened and harmonics can largely be canceled between the two modes. Hence, the harmonics characteristics can be significantly improved, whereby the lower order harmonics, such as the fifth and seventh orders, are much reduced. The results are confirmed by theoretical and experimental implementations.
