  • Purpose: The purpose of this study were to develop a new restraint for the intensive care units (ICU) and to investigate the application effect in comparison with a control group using existing restraints. Method: A non-equivalent control group non-synchronized quasi-experimental research design was used. The participants were 40 (control 20, experimental 20) patients who were recruited by convenience sampling the ICU of a university hospital. To avoid contamination of the experiment, data for the control group were collected prior to the experimental group. Measurement variables were edema and skin damage (redness and abrasion) at the application site, and nurses' perceived convenience in applying restraints. Results: Three days after applying the restraint, amount of edema at the application site was small and incidence of skin damage decreased in the experimental group in comparison with the control group. Also, score for application convenience measured by the nurses was higher in for the newly developed restraint than for existing restraints. Conclusion: Results indicate that the newly developed restraint has lower effects such as edema and skin damage and is more convenient compared with existing restraints, and is therefore recommended for patients in the ICU.

  • As a single-person household emerges as an important consumer group, an Online-to-Offline or Offlineto-Online(O2O) service market is rapidly growing. This study attempted to verify the effects of convenience and webrooming characteristics of O2O service using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the convenience and webrooming of food O2O service on users' perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and the effects of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on purchase intention of O2O services. Using a convenience sampling technique, an online survey was conducted through Google survey from April 16 to April 30, 2017 and was distributed to 447 O2O service users. A total of 320 questionnaires were included in the final analysis. The results showed that convenience had a significant effect on users' perceived ease of use as well as perceived usefulness. In addition, users' perceived ease of use had a significant impact on users' perceived usefulness. Finally, both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness positively affected users' purchase intention of O2O services. These findings suggest that differentiated events, promotions, and store information should be provided when launching O2O service because webrooming is a more important factor in enhancing perceived usefulness than the perceived ease of use.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the perspectives of gender and role in the family for nurses' work-family balance. Method: Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 14 married nurses having children, who were selected through convenience sampling and purposive sampling from November 1, 2011 to January 20, 2012. The data were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis. Results: The common themes resulted from data analysis included following traditional gender roles, giving up any expectation of spouse's role, coordinating the division of family roles, and refusing to stick to gender roles. The age of nurse, family background of husband, and social-economic contexts were essential to explain the couple dynamics. Conclusions: Nurses who received private family support were stably leading a work-family balance, yet unable to change the gender structure of spouse for the work-family balance. On the other hand, young nurses who were unable to get any support, had a tendency of cooperating with their spouses and adopting more negotiable and pragmatic approach to work-family balance.

  • The study seeks to identify factors affecting the choice of a university by first-year Business Administration students in Vietnam. Probability sampling is using Stratified sampling of 500 students from five private universities in Ho Chi Minh City surveyed by convenience sampling. This paper employs mixed research methods - measuring Cronbach's Alpha, EFA, Regression and using PATH model - to test the hypotheses of the research model. The results of the study identify five factors: Prestige, Geographical location, Facilities, Attractiveness of the field and Media. All these factors have a positive influence on the standing of the university brand. It means that the higher the Prestige, Geographical location, Facilities, Attractiveness of the field and Media, the higher the university brand. The results indicate that Geographical location is the most influential factor to enhance the private university's brand. Bringing Geographical location is, thus, advisable to enhance a university standing. The brand plays a determining role in students' trust when selecting a university. Media is still the top concern of new students when they choose to study at a university. Media still remains an important consideration for new students when choosing a university. So, this factor should be utilized by universities to enhance their attractiveness.
