Results: Significant differences between the experimental and control groups were observed in death anxiety (t=7.62, P<0.001), death attitudes (t=-7.58, P<0.001), and attitudes to end-of-life care (t=-10.30, P<0.001). Conclusion: It was confirmed that the death preparation education program reduced death anxiety and had a positive effect on death attitudes and attitudes toward end-of-life care. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that specialized and systematic education that can increase the implementation and stability of death preparation education in various fields, including nursing, will have a positive effect on both hospice patients and members of society more broadly.
Objectives : This study was aimed to investigate burn out degree of K.M.D.s(Korean medicine doctors) who work at convalescent hospitals and to find contributional factors for the result. The relationship between burn out and job performance was also studied. Methods : 77 K.M.D.s(Male 49(63.6%), Female 28(36.4%)) participated in this survey that has 62 main questions about burn out, job performance, job environment and Social demographic characteristics. Survey was conducted from 19th Aug. 2013 to 6th Nov. 2013. Results : Average of burn out degree of K.M.D.s was 2.62 out of 5. Emotional exhaustion was highest (2.80) and depersonalization was lowest(2.20) among subordinate concepts of burn out. Work place location and average income of the subjective which are subordinate concepts of social demographic characteristics showed significant correlation with job performance. Role conflict, relation of co-worker, workload were significant factors for emotional exhaustion and meaning of the job, will of patient, challenge were significant factors for lack of feeling of accomplishment by multiple regression analysis. Relation of co-worker, aggression of patient and meaning of the job were also significant factors for depersonalization. Conclusion : Emotional exhaustion and lack of feeling of accomplishment among subordinate concepts of burn out were high in the subjective who participated this study. Significant factors that contribute to burn out of this study, shows different result compare to the studies that show other factors contribute to burn out who works at convalescent hospital or other place.
The increasing elderly population has created an urgent need for well-managed convalescent hospitals, which should provide appropriate clinical nutrition services. The new accreditation policy requiring participation of all convalescent hospitals since 2013 may promote improvement of clinical nutrition services. This study examined whether or not the accreditation policy has increased practice level and dietitians' perception of the importance of clinical nutrition management. Of the 177 convalescent hospitals accredited by January 30, 2014, dietitians from 73 hospitals (41.2%) completed the survey questionnaire. The pre-tested questionnaire surveyed general characteristics of the hospital and dietitians, current status of clinical nutrition management, and changes in the perception and practice levels of various aspects of food and clinical nutrition management. In average, dietitians with more than 5 years of work experience (68.1%) provided food and clinical nutrition services (71.2%). After accreditation, dietitians' perception of the importance and practice level of clinical nutrition service increased (P<0.001). Level of perception, however, was significantly (P<0.001) higher than practice level before and after accreditation. During perception and practice level of initial nutrition assessment, a compulsory accreditation item, notably and significantly (P<0.001) improved after accreditation. The significant difference between perception and practice level disappeared after accreditation. In conclusion, the accreditation process had positive effects on clinical nutrition management in terms of dietitians' perception and practice levels. Making more accreditation items compulsory and providing motivation and professional education to dietitians in convalescent hospitals could lead to additional improvements.

PURPOSE: This study compared the effects of computer-based and virtual reality-based cognitive rehabilitation programs on the cognitive function, upper limb function, activities of daily living, and their impact on the prefrontal cortex in convalescent stroke patients. METHODS: Ten recovering stroke patients were assessed for their cognitive function, upper limb function, and daily living activities using the Neurobehavioral Cognitive Status Examination, the Korean version of the Fugl-Meyer Assessment, and the Korean version of the Modified Barthel Index. The prefrontal cortex activity was measured with functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy. The virtual reality-based cognitive rehabilitation group utilized a program of daily living activities delivered via a laptop and Oculus Rift. The computer-based cognitive rehabilitation group performed various cognitive tasks on an all-in-one PC. Both groups underwent cognitive rehabilitation training for 30 minutes per day, three times a week, for six weeks, with identical conventional rehabilitation therapies in the hospital. RESULTS: Both programs positively impacted the cognitive and physical functions. On the other hand, the virtual reality-based cognitive rehabilitation program had a larger influence on improving the cognitive and physical functions of convalescing stroke patients. CONCLUSION: The virtual reality program suggests its potential to enhance cognitive and physical functions in convalescent stroke patients through increased engagement, focus, real-time feedback, and game elements, making it a promising rehabilitation approach.

This was descriptive research aimed at determining the effects of emotional labor, nursing informatics competency, and nursing service environment on the nursing performance of convalescent hospital nurses. One hundred thirty-one nurses participated in this survey. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS statics18 program. The distribution of the research variables and general characteristics were analyzed by frequency analysis and descriptive statistics. The correlation between emotional labor, nursing informatics competency, nursing service environment, and nursing performance was analyzed by the Pearson correlation, and the influencing factors were hierarchical multiple regression analysis. As a result of the study, the average nursing performance was 65.5 (±8.5) points, emotional labor was 27.2 (±5.6) points, nursing informatics competency was 91.3 (±15.7), and the nursing service environment was 88.2(±16.0) points. The nursing performance showed a positive correlation with the nursing informatics competency (r=.32, p<.001) and nursing service environment (r=.25, p=.005). Nursing informatics competency was the biggest factor affecting nursing performance, and the nursing service environment had no significant influence. Among the general characteristics, marriage status and position also affected the nursing performance. The explanatory power of this regression model was 35.2% and was statistically significant (F=9.815, p<.001).
