  • This paper describes the auto-depth control system with depth control tank for low speed submersible vehicle that can be used for both near surface and deeply submerged keeping operations. The PDA control algorithm is used to design controller and adaptive notch filter is designed to eliminate the dominant frequency of seaway. The computer simulations demonstrate the excellent depth keeping performance of the controller under seaway effects.

  • In this paper self tuning control of interconnected systems are dealt in view point of large scale system control. The plant model is given in multiple ARMA process. This process is simplified as independent SISO ARMA process having offset terms. This offset was considered as effects of interconnections. In each decentralized system, self tuning controller with instrumental variable method is adopted. As a result, this algorithm enables the parameter estimation to be unbiased and non-drift. This controller contains a new implicit offset rejection technique. Simulation results considers well with the analysis in case of linear interconnection.

  • In this paper, the robustness of implict self tunning controller on the continuous time system is investigated. Continuous time exponentially weighted least square algorithm is used for estimating the system parameters. The pole-zero placement method is adapted for the control algorithm. On considering the control weighting factor and realizability filter the effects of unmodeled dynamics of the plant are examined by the simulation.

  • This paper present experimental results on temperature trajectory tracking. The benefits of precalculated feedforward input together with PID feedback control are demonstrated by experimental results. To find the feedforward input, the plant (autoregresiive) model is first identified and convex optimization procedure is applied. PID controller is then implemented based on Ziegler-Nickels tuning rule to reduce effects of disturbances and modeling errors. Experimental results show an improvement in slope tracking performance over the fully PID controller.

  • Derivation of a slab dimension from the desired tolerance degrades the product quality, resulting in significant yield loss by trimming. This necessitates the dimensional control system to be operated in tighter dimensional accuracy. This paper presents an integral approach to a dimensional control system design taking into account the interaction between the edging process and the gap rolling process. To investigate the effects of each process controller, a simple PID controller is adopted as a preliminary study. The control performance is analyzed in detail in terms of the system response accuracy for various operating conditions.

A Study on Power System Stability Enhancement by Robust Control of SPFC and Generators

  • In this paper, the H$\infty$ control method is applied in the control of SPFC and generators in order to obtain the robust stability performance of the power system. Moreover, a SPFC H$\infty$ controller based on loop shaping is designed to achieve first-rate tracking properties in addition to the robust stability. This robust control method is applied to a Ward and Hale 6-bus power system and the effects are analyzed. The MATLAB program is used for simulation of the robust controller.

  • It is difficult to determine the controller parameters that we can get optimum response of the controlled process variable. In this paper we investigate the effects of various elements of which a gas turbine MW control loop is consists. And we describe the result of actual adjustment on the parameters of these elements to improve the speed regulation of a gas turbine.

  • This paper deals with the finite wordlength effect on the performance of digital PID controllers. The finite wordlength, one of the major limitation factors in digital controllers, results on two kinds of quantization error : the signal quantization error and the coefficient quantization error. This paper derives the variance of the plant output due to the signal quantization error. Using stability margins as performance criterion, the statistical wordlength concept is adopted for coefficient wordlength selection. Finally, the experimental results exhibit satisfactory performance of the digital PID controller with statistical coefficient wordlength.

  • In this paper, a zero-voltage switching (ZVS) phase shift full-bridge converter is analyzed. The small-signal model is derived to design a digital controller. PLECS simulation shows how sampling method effects on transfer function of ZVS phase shift full-bridge converter.
