  • In this paper we deal with the design and implementation problem of a robust adaptive controller for a direct drive manipulator with unmodeled dynamics. The proposed controller ensures that the closed loop system is stable and output errors are converged to some boundary. To validate the improved performance of the proposed controller experimental results are presented in this paper.

  • In the VSS control, reaching phase and chattering problem are the main disadvantages. A simple nonlinear sliding surface is proposed to cope with the reaching phase. The chattering problem is alleviated by almost continuous control with the compensation using the infinite closed loop.

  • This paper considers the robust controller design problem for a boost DC-DC converter. Based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model-based approach, a fuzzy controller as well as a fuzzy load conductance observer are designed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the controller and the observer are derived using Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). LMI parameterizations of the gain matrices are obtained. Additionally, LMI conditions for the existence of the fuzzy controller and the fuzzy load observer guaranteeing α-stability, quadratic performance are derived. The exponential stability of the augmented fuzzy observer-controller system is shown. It is also shown that the fuzzy load observer and the fuzzy controller can be designed independently. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified via experimental and simulation results under various conditions.

  • Brushless DC(BLDC) motor have been increasingly used in machine tools and robotics applications due to the reliability and the efficiency. In control of BLDC motor, it is important to construct the controller which is robust to parameter variations and external disturbances. Variable structure controller(VSC) has been known as a powerful tool in robust control of time varying systems. In practical systems, however, VSC has a high frequency chattering which deteriorates system performances. In this paper, a binary controller(BC) which takes the form of VSC and MRAC combined is presented to solve this problem. BC consists of the primary loop controller and the external loop controller to change the gain of primary loop controller smoothly. So it can generate the continuous control input and is insensitive to parameter variations in the given domain. To confirm the validity, various investigations of control characteristics for various design parameters in a position control system of BLDC motor are carried out.   • In case that the perfect model following conditions are not satisfied in the system, a perfect model-following controller is difficult to apply to the system. To deal with this problem, in this paper, a robust imperfect stable model-following controller is designed by combining time delay controller and sliding mode controller based on the concept of two degrees of freedom(2-DOF) controller design method. The experimental dynamic modeling of the commercial overhead crane with capacity of two tons is carried out. To remove the noise of the measuring signals from the swing angle measurement device and estimate the state of the swing angles of the transported object at each time instant, realtime tracker is designed using Kalman filter. The performance of the designed robust controller is tested through the commercial overhead. The experimental results show that the designed controller is robust and applicable to real systems.

  • In this paper, we present an $H^{\infty}$ controller design of RTP system satisfying robust stability and performance using weighted mixed sensitivity minimization. In industrial fields, RTP system is widely used for improving the oxidation and the annealing in semiconductor manufacturing process. The main control factors are temperature control of wafer and uniformity in the wafer. The control of temperature and uniformity has been solved by PI control method. We improve robust stability and performance of RTP system by the design of $H^{\infty}$ controller using the weighted mixed sensivity function. An example is proposed to show the validity of proposed method.d.

  • PID auto-tuning controller was designed via fuzzy logic. Typical values such as error and error derivative feedback were changed as heuristic expressions, and they determine PID gain through fuzzy logic and defuzzification process. Fuzzy procedure and PID controller design were considered separately, and they are combined and analyzed. Obtained auto-tuning PID controller by Fuzzy Logic showed the ability for less than 3rd order plant control. We also applied to reference tracking problem with the designed auto-tuning scheme.

  • This Paper Proposes a design method of a fuzzy output feedback controller for the nonlinear systems with the unknown time- delay. Recently, Cao et ai. proposed a stabilization method for the nonlinear time-delay systems using a fuzzy controller when the time-delay is known. However, the time-delay is likely to be unknown in practical. We represent the nonlinear systems with the unknown time-delay by Takagi-Sugeno (T-5) fuzzy model and design the fuzzy observer and the parallel distributed compensation (PDC) law based on this observer. By applying Lyapunov-Krasovskii theorem to the closed-loop system, the sufficient condition for the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium Point is derived and converted into the linear matrix inequality (LMI) Problem.

  • In this paper, an actively controlled anti-rolling system is considered to reduced the rolling motion of the ship. In this control system, a small auxiliary mass is installed on the upper area of the ship, and the actuator is connected between the auxiliary mass and the ship. The actuator reacts against the auxiliary mass, applying inertial control corves to the ship to reduce the rolling motion in the desired manner. in this paper, we apply the PID controller to design the anit-rolling control system for the controlled hip. And the experimental result shows that the desirable control performance is achieved.
