  • It becomes common to use computers to control electronic devices and security facilities in newly constructed buildings and house. There are many home application devices in the market which can be controlled by computers. But they are expensive and managed by specialized companies. This paper is focused on personal computers which are available in most homes and can be used to control home electronic appliances and home security facilities. We implemented a home automation server based on Linux. The standard parallel port of personal computer is used to connect sensors and actuators. Therefore, the cost of the server is very low. Moreover, the server is connected to Internet and anywhere we can control and monitor the home security facilities and home automation systems.

  • Due to the unusual change in the weather to be increased suddenly, the damage of the lightning accident is recently more increased than before. Many water treatment facilities are operated by automatic control or by remote control. Automatic control systems are adopted in water treatment facilities. So there are damaged by lightning inevitably. This study is intended to measure and analyze the lightning accident occurred by the lightning and to show the methods minimizing the lightning accidents.

  • System establishment using a network may be a decisive factor both for creating a flexible production system and increasing reliability and serve as a basis for setting up of a management system that will make the designing, maintenance, and repair easier. It is therefore imperative to develop a protocol which is simple to use for communications and connections among different devices. The objectives of this study is to establish communications protocol stack that will enable to conduct an effective monitoring of production facilities and to secure flexibility of reduction control system, and to improve the working ratio of the production facilities by centralization of communications system through effective collecting and storing of the diversified data of multi-type and multi-device production facilities.

  • In the field of network sense for the Ubiquitous environment, the technology of RFID is a significant part. Due to the real time processing of information and the property of network, RFID has been used in service field such as distribution, administrative control of physical distribution, remote measuring device, and security. instead of currently used bar-code. The management system of port facilities using the current RFID technology has the effects of reducing working hours and improvement in data processing, but it is not proper for human resource allocation since it is dominantly worked for physical resources. In this paper, we designed and implemented personnel control system using RFID of 2.4GHz in port facilities which presents a monitoring system for safety operation and increase of efficiency using RFID in order to overcome the limitations and problems of current port operation management techniques.

  • The leakage of toxic chemicals impact seriously on human being and environment, therefore during their treatment process, a proper management system is necessary to control their toxic effect. This study was designed to suggest the management regulation that supports business managers and facilities management. There are no extra regulation to control emergency accidents and terrors in chemical facilities. Developed countries like USA operate the management standards to control the toxic chemical and facilities according to their toxicity and processes. In order to solve this problem, we have analysed the advanced nations standard methods of security in chemical plants to study the new security management regulation which helps to prevent the chemical accidents. Especially, in USA, CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety), SVA (Security Vulnerability Assessment) and RBPSs (Risk-Based Performance Standards) of DHS (Department of Homeland Security) were invest I gated. On the basis of the results, we have suggested the application methods of the security and safety regulation in Korea.

  • Industrial control systems in nuclear facilities are facing increasing cyber threats due to the widespread use of information and communication equipment. To implement cyber security programs effectively through the RG 5.71, it is necessary to quantitatively assess cyber risks. However, this can be challenging due to limited historical data on threats and customized Critical Digital Assets (CDAs) in nuclear facilities. Previous works have focused on identifying data flows, the assets where the data is stored and processed, which means that the methods are heavily biased towards information security concerns. Additionally, in nuclear facilities, cyber threats need to be analyzed from a safety perspective. In this study, we use the system theoretic process analysis to identify system-level threat scenarios that could violate safety constraints. Instead of quantifying the likelihood of exploiting vulnerabilities, we quantify Security Control Measures (SCMs) against the identified threat scenarios. We classify the system and CDAs into four consequence-based classes, as presented in NEI 13-10, to analyze the adversary impact on CDAs. This allows for the ranking of identified threat scenarios according to the quantified SCMs. The proposed framework enables stakeholders to more effectively and accurately rank cyber risks, as well as establish security and response strategies.

  • In recent years the USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Networks) technology has been applied in the greenhouse in order to control temperature and humidity automatically. In this paper, we proposed a control algorithm using feedback linearization techniques based on a mathematical model for temperature and humidity environment. Especially, Control algorithm is presented to the operation of the ventilator affecting on the temperature and humidity system at the same time. The System has been designed taking into account the disturbance(External temperature, soil temperature, external humidity, solar radiation and wind). In conclusion, I will present a way to control multiple actuator through simulations. The proposed control algorithm is validated using the Matlab/Simulink tools.

  • The objective of this study is to identify the current state of usage and needs for Smart Technology (ST) in the elderly care facilities based on the point of view of staff members. Using survey via mails, data were analyzed with responses from top- or middle-level staff members working in 171 elderly care facilities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheongnam-do. Results indicated that the most needed smart technology was home automation, followed by nurse call system and health monitoring. The technology with the highest feasibility was health monitoring, followed by nurse call system and video phone. Staff members in higher positions working in the elderly care facilities had the highest expectation in improving the image of their facilities by using ST, while they had low expectation for the fact that ST may increase the locus of control of the elderly. This study implies that ST implementations may vary depending on the level of responsibility of staff members and ST how people responsible for the elderly care facilities subjectively perceive the ST.

  • The main theme of this paper is to evaluate the relevance of Educational Facilities in terms of university change in near future. The paper reviewed the changing process of higher education and its role in Korean society briefly, proposed the developmental directions of higher education in future in several perspectives, and introduced educational reform plan in the field of higher education proposed on May 30, 1995 by advisory group to the president. In this context, the irrelevance of university and college education facilities was pointed out, and proposed some new and modernizing guide lines of educational facilities such as flexibility, openness, corelationships and consortium among related institutes, optimization of related laws and rules, exemption from the direct ruling and control of government. This paper also suggested some ideas of facilitating educational facilities in accordance with the future change trends of university and college education.

  • The purpose of this study was to keep the Security Control Center, which operates under a shift system, uninterrupted during the COVID-19 virus epidemic. Security facilities responding to cybersecurity threats are essential security facilities that must be operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a day in real time, and are critical to security operations and management. If security facilities such as infectious disease epidemic, system failure, and physical impact are closed or affected, they cannot respond to real-time cyberattacks and can be fatal to security issues. Recently, there have been cases in which security system facilities cannot be operated, such as the closure of facilities due to the COVID-19 virus epidemic and the availability of security systems due to the rainy season, and other cases need to be prepared. In this paper, we propose a plan to configure a security system facility as a multiplexing facility and operate it as an alternative in the event of a closed situation.
