  • This paper describes a control method of turn-on/off angles to improve the efficiency of the switched reluctance generator(SRG) with a power closed-loop control system, and the inner-loop of the system is current hysteresis control. The SRG control system is constituted by the PI power controller and the two-level current hysteresis controller. By measuring and analyzing the system losses of different reference powers, speeds and turn-on/off angles, selection strategy of optimal turn-on/off angles is discussed. The proposed method is simple, reliable, and easy to achieve.

  • This paper proposes a tile level rate control for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). The proposed tile level rate control is designed by considering the multi-core platform of tile in HEVC. The proposed tile level rate control allocates the number of bits for each tile based on the predetermined weight generated from the current picture level rate control. According to the experimental results, the proposed tile level rate control for HEVC on multi-core platform loses negligibly the bitrate accuracy about 0.07% on average over the reference software HM-14.0.

  • This paper presents how to design speed control of wound rotor induction motors with slip energy recovery. The speed is limited at some range of sub-synchronous speed of the rotating magnetic field. The problem with speed control by adjusting resistance value in the rotor circuit reduces the efficiency of power, because of the slip energy is lost when it passes through the rotor resistance. The control system is designed to maintain efficiency of motor, where it recovers loss energy by returning it to the system to improve the efficiency. A new PI control method of adaptive control [1],[13]is applied for the system with cascade type PI controller on the main loop to keep the speed constant and the internal loop to adjust the rotor appropriated current of the load provides the good transient response without overshoot.

  • This paper describes emission control of hydrocarbon and carbon-monoxide due to oxidizing catalyst. The experiment was performed on a precious metal pelleted catalyst(Pt). The factors of the efficiency for purification due to oxidizing catalyst are space velocity, temperature, composition of exhaust gas and supplementary air. The experiment was carried out to control the factors of efficiency for purification. The results of experimental study show that temperature of catalytic converter, supplementary air and space velocity affected the efficiency for purification of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide.

  • When an induction motor is lightly loaded, the efficiency can be very substantially improved by controlling the air gap flux. Thus in the system which requires constant speed under either normal load or light load, it is possible to save energy by means of controlling the air gap flux. In this paper, the required relationships between stator current and rotor slip frequency for optimal efficiency control is derived and the improved control loop is suggested.

  • This paper presents a variable speed wind generation system where fuzzy logic controllers is used as efficiency optimizer. The fuzzy logic controller increments the machine flux by on-line search to improve the generator efficiency in case of light load. The speed of the induction generator is controlled according to the variation of the wind speed in order to produce the maximum output power The generator reference speed is adjusted according to the optimum tip-speed ratio. The complete control system has been developed by simulation study.

  • Owing to the development of Internet of Things (IoT), the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication is going to foresee a substantial increase of mobile traffic demand. Energy efficiency and spectral efficiency are the challenges in a 5G network. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a promising technique to increase the system efficiency by adaptive power control (PC) in a 5G network. This paper proposes an efficient PC scheme based on evolutionary game theory (EGT) model for uplink power-domain NOMA system. The proposed PC scheme allows users to adaptively adjusts their transmit power level in order to improve their payoffs or throughput which results in an increase of the system efficiency. In order to separate the user signals, a successive interference cancellation (SIC) receiver installed at the base station (BS) site. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed EGT-based PC scheme outperforms the traditional game theory-based PC schemes and orthogonal multiple access (OMA) in terms of energy efficiency and spectral efficiency.

  • Since most autonomous mobile robots are powered by a battery, it is important to increase the continuous operating time without recharging. This can be achieved by improving the energy efficiency of a mobile robot, but little research on energy efficiency has been performed. This paper proposes two methods for improving the energy efficiency of an omnidirectional mobile robot.. One method is to realize a continuously variable transmission (CVT) by adopting the mechanism of steerable omnidirectional wheels. The other is the proposed steering algorithm in which wheel arrangement of the mobile robot is continuously adjusted so as to obtain the maximum energy efficiency of the motors during navigation. In addition, new omnidirectional wheels which can be transformed to the conventional wheels depending on the driving conditions are proposed to compensate for less efficient omnidirectional drive mode. Various tests show that motion control of the OMR-SOW works satisfactorily and the proposed steering algorithm for CVT can provide higher energy efficiency than the algorithm using a fixed steering angle. In addition, it is shown that the differential drive mode can give better energy efficiency than the omnidirectional drive mode.

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) has become a popular choice in electric vehicle applications. This paper proposes efficiency optimization control of IPMSM drive using AFLC-FNN(Adaptive Fuzzy Learning Control Fuzzy Neural Network)controller. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper proposes the optimal control method of the armature current. The optimal current can be decided according to the operating speed and the load conditions. This paper proposes speed control of IPMSM using AFLC-FNN and estimation of speed using ANN controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system controlled AFLC-FNN controller, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail.
