  • This paper introduces the combination of two blasting methods applied to reduce blast-vibration and increase blast efficiency. NDC (New Deck Charge) blasting method using air deck effect with separation tube made of paper was effective to reduce blast-vibration, while blast efficiency was decreased a little in the bottom of a blasthole. Wide Space blasting method has an advantage to control the fragmentation and to increase blast efficiency over conventional blasting methods. In this study new blasting method combining NDC blasting method and Wide Space blasting method was applied to the field, it was confirmed to reduce blast-vibration and increase blast efficiency. It is expected to make useful blasting method to cover the public complaints and to shorten construction time by accumulating blasting data using new method with various conditions.

  • Blasting is a technique for rock excavation: For instance, a rock cutting in a mountain side to prepare a base for a road. The blasting damage affect the rock slope stability. Therefore control blasting must be used. In this study, cutting cases of Sixty-nine rock blasts were investigated. Blasting damage patterns in rock slope and reinforcement methods are studied.

  • The $\varphi{4.5}$ meters pilot tunneling work is almost done to the $\varphi{11.3}$ meters twin tunnel of NAM SAN No1. The south side pit of 400 meters is weak zone of Rock status, so client request us to allow the cautious blasting pattern for drilling on the condition of 0.2 kine vibration allowance limited for the safety of side running tunnel. The pattern of cautious blasting carried out by 6 time divided fiving on the round drilling depth of 1.20 meters(1.10) and also applied control blasting method with line drilling due to the reduction of vibration.

  • In this paper, numerical analysis with varying distance and burial depth was performed to recommend the blasting vibration control standard for pre-insulated pipes. The blasting load model applied in the numerical analysis was verified to the comparison with the results of the field tests. It was determined from the results of the numerical analysis that the effective stress either exceeds or approaches the allowable stress of the inner steel pipe for vibration velocity greater than 4.0cm/sec while stability is obtained for vibration velocity below 4.0cm/sec. Therefore, it was determined that the blasting vibration control criteria for pre-insulated pipes must not exceed 4.0cm/sec.

  • Many methods and techniques to reduce ground vibrations are well known. Some of them are to adopt electric milisecond detonators with a sequential blasting machine or an initiating system with an adequate number of delay intervals. The types of electric detonators munufactured in Korea include instantaneous, decisecond and milisecond delays byt numbers of delay intervals are only limite from No.1 to No.20 respectively. It is not sufficient to control accurately milisecond time with these detonators in tunnel excavation. Sequential fire time refers to adding an external time delay to a detonators norminal firing time to obtain sequential initiation and it is determined by sequential timer setting. To reduce the vibration level, sequential blasting machine with decisecond detonatore was adopted. A total of 134 blasting was recorded at various sites. Blast-to-structure distances ranged from 20.3 to 42.0 meter, where charge weight varied from 0.25 to 0.75 kg per delay. The results can be summarized as follow : 1. The effects of sequential blasting machine on the vibration level are discussed. The vibration level by S.B.M. are decreased approximately 14.38~18.05 to compare to level of conventional blasting and cycle time per round can be saved. 2. The empirical equations of particle velocity were obtained in S,B.M. and conventional blastin. $V=K(D/W^{1/3})-n$. where the values for n and k are estimated to be 1.665 to 1.710 and 93.59 to 137 respectively. 3. The growth of cracks due to vibrations are found but the level fall to within allowable value.

  • Ground vibration and noise from blasting operation are known to be the most representative constituents which can cause human and material damage. In this study, the effect of delay time on ground vibration is investigated by adopting seven different delay times in bench blasting. For each delay time, three blasting operations were performed. The prediction equations for blasting vibration are derived from 50 sets of measurement and the time theory of Langefors is evoked in the analysis of the blasting vibrations and frequencies. For the delay times of 8 ms and 28 ms, the average values of ground vibration are 5.76 cm/sec and 5.75 cm/sec, respectively, which are considerably low. Also the cyclic variation in the vibration measurements with the delay time confirms the interference effect. From the application of the measurements of blasting vibration and frequency to the time theory of Langefors, it is concluded that the optimum delay times are 8 ms and 24 ms for the test site.

  • This study explored the fluid transfer characteristics of simultaneous pneumatic blasting, plasma blasting, and vacuum suction (the PPV method), and assessed their effect. Chemical oxidation-an established soil remediation method-was compared as a control. Electrical resistivity surveys found that PPV reduced resistivity by about 1.5-2.5 times compared with the control group, indicating that it increased the diffusion of fluid between the injection and suction wells. Injection and suction tests comparing the injection flow rate, initial suction flow rate time, and suction flow rate showed that the PPV method offered an improvement over the existing method. Slug tests revealed that PPV increased the permeability coefficient by a greater amount than that by the control method. This study qualitatively and quantitatively confirmed that the PPV method clearly improves injection and suction efficiency by accelerating cracks in the ground and improving water permeability compared with the established chemical oxidation method.

  • Measuring methods of the blasting vibration were generally divided the. manual method and the automatical method. When using the automatical method, field data of the vibration meter can be transferred to a operation computer by using remote equipments. In this study new automatical system using solar power supply is to be introduced. New automatical system is well suited for the field which is difficult to access and is needed frequent measurements of the blasting vibration. And it can make easy to accumulate the data and control the blasting vibration for safe blasting.
