This paper describes a new method for 3D object recognition which used surface segment-based stereo vision. The position and orientation of an objects is identified accurately enabling a robot to pick up, even though the objects are multiple and partially occluded. The stereo vision is used to get the 3D information as 3D sensing, and CAD model with its post processing is used for building models. Matching is initially performed using the model and object features, and calculate roughly the object's position and orientation. Though the fine adjustment step, the accuracy of the position and orientation are improved.

This paper describes real time object tracking of 3D objects in 2D image sequences. The moving objects are segmented from the image sequence using morphological operations. The moving objects are segmented by the method of differential image followed by the process of morphological dilation. The moving objects are recognized and tracked using statistical moments. The direction of moving objects are determined by the Hough transform. The straight lines in the moving objects are found with the help of Hough transform. The direction of the moving object is calculated from the orientation of the straight lines in the direction of the principal axes of the moving objects. The direction of the moving object and the displacement of the object in the image sequence is used to calculate the velocity of the moving objects. The simulation results of the proposed method are promising on the test images.

This paper describes the development of robot's finger 3-axis force sensor that detects the Fx, Fy, and Fz simultaneously fur stably grasping an unknown object. In order to safely grasp an unknown object using the robot's fingers, they should detect the force of gripping direction and the force of gravity direction, and perform the force control using the detected farces. The 3-axis force sensor that detects the Fx, Fy, and Fz simultaneously should be used for accurately detecting the weight of an unknown object of gravity direction. Thus, in this paper, robot's finger for stably grasping an unknown object is developed. And, the 3-axis farce sensor that detects the Fx, Fy, and Fz simultaneously fur constructing a robot's finger is newly modeled using several parallel-plate beams, and is fabricated. Also, it is calibrated, and evaluated.
The object-oriented approach is a difficult method for engineers who are accustomed to other software development methods although it is an excellent software development approach. This paper presents a method for object-orineted modeling re-using DFD(Data Flow Diagram) and SC(Structure Chart) of structured analysis and design approach. This paper suggests an easy method for analysis and design using structured approach for object abstraction, which is one of the most difficult things in object-oriented approach.
In this paper, we present the strategy of object search for distributed autonomous robotic systems (DARS). The DARS are the systems that consist of multiple autonomous robotic agents to whom required functions are distributed. For instance, the agents should recognize their surrounding at where they are located and generate some rules to act upon by themselves. In this paper, we introduce the strategy for multiple DARS robots to search a hidden object at the unknown area. First, we present an area-based action making process to determine the direction change of the robots during their maneuvers. Second, we also present Q learning adaptation to enhance the area-based action making process. Third, we introduce the coordinate system to represent a robot's current location. In the end of this paper, we show experimental results using hexagon-based Q learning to find the hidden object.

Virtual object weight perception is an important topic, as it heightens the believability of object manipulation in immersive virtual environments. Although weight perception can be achieved using haptic interfaces, their technical complexity makes them difficult to apply in immersive virtual environments. In this study, we present a visual pseudo-haptic feedback system that simulates and depicts the weights of virtual objects, the effect of which is weight perception. The proposed method recognizes grasping and manipulating hand motions using computer vision-based tracking methods, visualizing a Force Arrow to indicate the current lifting forces and its difference from the standard lifting force. With the proposed Force Arrow method, a user can more accurately perceive the logical and unidirectional weight and therefore control the force used to lift a virtual object. In this paper, we investigate the potential of the proposed method in discriminating between different weights of virtual objects.

An x-ray vision can be a unique method to monitor and analyze the motion of mechanical parts in real time which are invisible from outside. Our problem is to identify the pose, i.e. the position and orientation of an object from x-ray projection images. It is assumed here that the x-ray imaging conditions that include the relative coordinates of the x-ray source and the image plane are predetermined and the object geometry is known. In this situation, an x-ray image of an object at a given pose can be estimated computationally by using a priori known x-ray projection image model. It is based on the assumption that a pose of an object can be determined uniquely to a given x-ray projection image. Thus, once we have the numerical model of x-ray imaging process, x-ray image of the known object at any pose could be estimated ...

Motion estimation using Full-Search(FS) and Block-Matching Algorithm(BMA) is often used in the case of moving object tracking by vision sensors. However these methods often miss the real-time vision data because these schemes suffer the heavy computational load. When the image size of moving object is changed in an image frame according to the distance between the camera of mobile robot and the moving object, the tracking performance of a moving object may decline with these methods because of the shortage of active handling. In this paper, the variable-representative block that can reduce a lot of data computations, is defined and optimized by changing the size of representative block accor...
In this study, some issues on 3- dimentional object recognition and pose determination are discussed. The method employs a laser projector which projects a cyliderical light beam on the object plane where it produces a bright ring pattern. The picture is then taken by a T.V camera. The ring pattern is mathmetically the ellipse of which the geometrical parameters have the 3-dimentional feature of the object plane. This paper gives the mathematical aspects of 3-dimentional recognition method and shows experimentally the variations of ellipse parameters as the spatial deviation of the plane object.
Curved 3D objects represented by range data contain large amounts of information compared with planar objects, but do not have distinct features for matching to those of object models. This makes it difficult to represent and identify a general 3D curved object. This paper introduces a new approach to representing and finding a holdsite of general 3D curved objects using range data. We develop a three-dimensional generalized Hough transformation which can be also applied to general 3D curved object recognition and which reduces both the computation time and storage requirements. Our approach makes use of the relative geometric differences between particular points on the object surface and some model points which are prespecified arbitrarily and task dependently.
