초월공동 수중운동체용 제어핀의 유체력 특성에 대한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study on Hydrodynamic Characteristics of a Control Fin for a Supercavitating Underwater Vehicle)

  • Wedge-shaped fins are generally used to provide sufficient forces and moments to control and maneuver a supercavitating vehicle. There are four fins placed along the girth of the vehicle, near he tail: two of the fins are horizontal and the other two fins are vertical. In a fully developed supercavitating flow condition, a part of the fin is in a cavity pocket and the other is exposed to water. In this paper, experimental investigations of hydrodynamic characteristics of the wedge-shaped fin models are presented. Experiments were conducted at a cavitation tunnel of the Chungnam National University. We first closely observed the typical formation of wake cavitation and measured lift and drag forces acting on two different test models. Next, using a special device for generating natural and artificial supercavities, we investigated hydrodynamic forces at different cavitation number conditions. This work provides a basis for interpreting the cavity stability and hydrodynamic characteristics of the wedge-shaped control fin for a supercavitating vehicle.

미사일 Fin 액츄에이터용 서보모터의 외란 토크 억제 제어 (Disturbance Torque Suppression Control of Servo Motors for Missile Fin Actuators)

  • In this paper, we propose a generalized disturbance torque suppression control scheme of servo motors for missile fin actuators. Our controller consists of both a model based feed-forward controller and a stabilizing feedback controller. The feed-forward controller is designed such that the output of nominal plant tracks perfectly the reference position command with a desired dynamic characteristics. The feedback controller stabilizes the overall closed loop system. Furthermore, the feedback controller contains a free function that can be chosen arbitrary. The free function can be designed so as to achieve both the suppression of disturbances and the robustness to model uncertainties. In order to illuminate the superior performance of our control scheme to the conventional ones, we present some simulation results.

Nanoscale NAND SONOS memory devices including a Seperated double-gate FinFET structure

  • NAND-type SONOS with a separated double-gate FinFET structure (SDF-Fin SONOS) flash memory devices are proposed to reduce the unit cell size of the memory device and increase the memory density in comparison with conventional non volatile memory devices. The proposed memory device consists of a pair of control gates separated along the direction of the Fin width. There are two unique alternative technologies in this study. One is a channel doping method and the other is an oxide thickness variation method, which are used to operate the SDF-Fin SONOS memory device as two-bit. The fabrication processes and the device characteristics are simulated by using technology comuter-adided(TCAD). The simulation results indicate that the charge trap probability depends on the different channel doping concentration and the tunneling oxide thickness. The proposed SDG-Fin SONOS memory devices hold promise for potential application.

확장형 감소차수 관측기를 이용한 전기식 조종날개 구동장치의 슬라이딩 모드 제어 (A sliding mode control of an electro-mechanical fin actuation system using extended reducer-observer(ERO))

  • The objective of this paper is to design a sliding mode controller of an electro-mechanical fin actuation system using extended reducer-observer(ERO) which is used in order to estimate the velocity. The employed observer enables proper estimation of the plant state variables, even in the case of the constant or slow varying load torque disturbances. The effectiveness of this control scheme is verified by comparison with a PID control through a series of simulation studies. The simulation results show that the sliding mode control designed with the ERO gives good control performances.

  • This study proposes a robust control of a fin position servo system using the H-infinity loop-shaping method. The fin position control system has a proportional (P) position controller and a proportional-integral (PI) controller. In this work, the position control loop requires a wide bandwidth. No current control loop exists due to the compact design of the system. Hence, the controller parameters are difficult to determine using the traditional cascade design method. The $H_{\infty}$ controller design method is used to design the controller's gain to achieve good performance and robustness. First, the transfer function of the system, which can be divided into tunable and fixed parts, is derived. The tunable part includes the position P controller and speed PI controller. The fixed part includes the rest of the system. Second, the optimized controller parameters are calculated using Matlab $H_{\infty}$ controller design program. Finally, the system with optimized controller is tested by simulation and experiment. The control performance is satisfactory, and the $H_{\infty}$ controller design method is proven to be valid.

  • 접는 미사일 조종날개의 공력탄성학적 특성을 조사하였다. 접는 미사일 조종날개는 2차원 익형 모델로 가정하였다. 초음속 DPM을 이용하여 초음속 비정상 공기력을 계산하였으며, 최소 상태 변수 근사법을 이용하여 비정상 공기력을 근사화하였다. 선형 및 비선형 플러터 해석을 위해 근궤적법과 시간적분법을 사용하였다. 비선형 플러터 해석을 위해 전개부의 힌지는 비대칭 이선형 스프링으로 가정하였으며, 기술함수를 이용하여 선형화하였다. 플러터 해석으로부터, 비선형 파라미터가 공력탄성학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다.

핀의 성능에 미치는 꼬리날개의 영향 (Influence of Tail Blades on the Performance of a Fin)

  • Fins are widely used for roll stabilization of car ferries and passenger ships as well as high performance naval ships. In the present study, model experiments and numerical simulations are performed to investigate the influence of tail blades on the performance of a fin stabilizer for various angles of attack. It is found that a considerable improvement in performance of the fin stabilizer is achieved with adoption of the tail blades. The results can be utilized for the design of a high-lift control surfaces including fin stabilizers.

Evaluation of a Visible Implant Fluorescent Elastomer Tag in the Greenling Hexagrammos otakii

  • The aim of this study was to assess visible implant fluorescent elastomer (VIE) tagging in greenling Hexagrammos otakii. The experiental fish were anesthetized individually and marked with orange, yellow, red, and green elastomer at the following five body locations, respectively: the adipose eyelid, the surface of the dorsal fin base, the inside surface of the pectoral fin base, the inside surface of the pelvic fin base, and the surface of the anal fin base. Control fish were anesthetized but not marked. During the 20-month trial, fish growth and retention, underwater visibility, and readability of the tags were determined. After 20 months, body length of marked greenling ($43.2{\pm}3.5cm$, mean ${\pm}$ standard deviation [SD]) did not differ from that of the control ($41.4{\pm}3.7cm$). Additionally, the body weight of marked greenling ($527.4{\pm}39.8g$, mean ${\pm}$ SD) did not differ from that of the controls ($505.9{\pm}31.7g$). Greenling retained >90% of the tags at the surface of the dorsal fin base. The anal fin base showed a higher tag retention rate than the inside surfaces of the pectoral fin and the pelvic fin bases (P < 0.05). Red and orange tags were identified more easily underwater than green and yellow tags. Green and yellow tags emitted fluorescence in response to a narrower range of light wavelengths. Thus, the VIE mark was easy to apply to greenling (< 1 min per fish) and was readily visible when viewed under an ultraviolet lamp.

  • A fuzzy controller is designed for compensating the cross-coupling effect of induced roll due to the dynamic characteristics of three fin torpedo. Since the utilization of fuzzy-coprocessor has many interfacing problems with typical microprocessors of the guidance and control unit, the simplified fuzzy inference method based on nonfuzzy-processor is proposed to implement fuzzy controllers of three fin torpedo. This method provides a flexible rule-base design to guarantee the robust control. The good potential of the proposed design is shown through real-time simulations using both a mathematical model on AD-100 computer and an implemented controller on Intel 80C186/80C 187 microprocessors employing 12bit A/D converter.

  • Effectiveness of a 3-pass plate finned-tube heat exchanger is calculated using heat exchangelet method by changing the shape of fin and the arrangement of tubes. The alternative refrigerant R134a is taken in this study. Conduction between neighboring tubes along the fin is taken into account in addition to convection between the fin and the surrounding air. Governing equations are obtained by using energy balance in a small control volume containing a tube and fins. They are numerically solved following the tube. Effect of tube-to-tube conduction is investigated in single-phase and two-phase flows with various fin shapes and arrangements of tubes. Improvement of effectiveness by fin perforation is studied too. The results shows that perforating fins, increasing the number of tubes, and increasing the distance between neighboring tubes at the same fin area enhance the effectiveness.
