A computer program that can estimate static, dynamic stability and control derivatives using a subsonic-supersonic panel method is developed. The panel method uses subsonic-supersonic source and elementary horse shoe vortex distributions, and their strengths are determined by solving the boundary condition approximated with a thin body assumption. In addition, quasi-steady analysis on the body fixed coordinate system allows the estimation of damping coefficients of aircraft 3 axes. The code is validated by comparing the neutral point, roll and pitch damping of delta wings with published analysis results. Finally, the static, dynamic stability and control derivatives of F-18 are compared with experimental data as well as other numerical results to show the accuracy and the usefulness of the code.

For the purpose of fault detection of the primary control surface, real-time estimation of the longitudinal stability and control derivatives of the DURUMI-II using the flight data is considered in this paper. The DURUM-II, a research UAV developed by KARI, is designed to have split control surfaces for the redundancy and to guarantee safety during the fault mode flight test. For fault mode analysis, the right elevator was deliberately fixed to the specified deflection condition. This study also mentions how to implement the multi-step control input efficiently, and how to switch between the normal mode and the fault mode during the flight test. As a realtime parameter estimation technique, Fourier transform regression method was used and the estimated data was compared with the results of the analytical method and the other available method. The aerodynamic derivatives estimated from the normal mode flight data and the fault mode data are compared and the possibility to detect the elevator fault by monitoring the control derivative estimated in real time by the computer onboard was discussed.
The goal of this paper is to represent a technique of fault detection for the control surface as a base research of the fault tolerant control system for safety improvement of UAV. The real-time system identification based on the recursive Fourier Transform was implemented for the fault detection of the control surface and verified through the HILS and flight test. The failures of the control surface are detected by comparing the control derivatives in fault condition with the normal condition. As a result from the flight test, we have confirmed that the control derivatives of fault condition less than normal condition.

Robot position/force control has been a difficult task owing to the interaction between a robot and an environment with a rather high stiffness. In addition to the dynamic instability, the interaction causes the following problem : 1) chattering at steady-state, 2) dynamic coupling effect of robot, and 3) performance degradation due to a titled environment. To solve the problem, the Time Delay Control(TDC), which has been known to be quiet robust to plant uncertainties and disturbances, has been applied. In conjunction to TDC, the following three ideas were also used : 1) To reduce the amplitude of the chattering at the steady state, a novel scheme was adopted to enhance the resolution type solution of A/D conversion for the force sensor. 2) To reduce the dynamic coupling, a trajectory type position command was tried on a comparative basis to the step command, as well as a more accurate mass matrix was used instead of the constant mass matrix. 3) And finally to improve the performance in the tilted environment, force derivatives instead of position derivatives were used in the TDC law. Computer simulations and experiments resulted in obvious improvements on the quality of the hybrid control, thereby clearly demonstrating the effectiveness of TDC with the proposed ideas.
The objective of this paper is to estimate the aerodynamic derivatives of a single turbo-prop aircraft at a specified flight condition for the best deduction of the dynamic characteristics using modified maximum likelihood estimation method whcih is known to be unbiased, efficient, and consistent. The flight test data necessary to the estimation of aerodynamic derivatives is obtained by implementing the six degree of freedom nonlinear flight simulation to consider the effects of several control input types, control deflection amplitudes, and intensity of turbulence. The simulated data is added with the measurement noise, which is regarded as the actual flight test data.

In this paper, a design method of a missile guidance command is presented considering the dynamics of missile control systems. The design of a new guidance command is based on the well-known PNG(propotional navigation guidance) laws. The missile control system dynamics cause the time-delays of the PN guidance command and degrade the performance of original guidance laws which are designed under the assumption of the ideal missile control systems. Using a backstepping method, these time-delay effects can be compensated. In order to implement the guidance command developed by the backstepping procedure, it is required to measure or calculate the successive time-derivatives of the original guidance command, PNG and other kinematic variables such as the relative distance. Instead of directly using the measurements of these variables and their successive derivatives, a simple disturbance observer technique is employed to estimate a guidance command described by them. Using Lyapunov method, the performance of a newly developed guidance command is analyzed against a target maneuvering with a bounded and time-varying acceleration.
In this Paper, the design of a feedback linearization controller using multilayer neural network is proposed. The Proposed feedback linearization control scheme is designed by finding Lie derivatives from an identified neural networks. Lie derivatives are expressed as a combination of weights and neuron outputs. The proposed method is applied to an antenna arm problem and the simulation results show performance comparisons between the ordinary feedback linearization and the Proposed method.
Chitin and its derivatives (chitosan and glucosamine) were studied for their effects on ethanol production using YPD (yeast extract 10%, peptone 20%, glucose 20%, agar 20%) medium. All chitin derivatives, particularly chitin, increased ethanol production compared with control. In non-steamed alcohol fermentation of tapioca, addition of 0.9% chitin yielded higher ethanol production (13.6%) with lower acetaldehyde (21.91 ppm) and methanol (65.49 ppm) contents than those (12.7%, 35.05 ppm, 84.31 ppm, respectively) of control after fermentation for 120 hr at $30^{\circ}C$. Results indicate that chitin can be used to increase ethanol production in non-steamed alcohol fermentation of tapioca.
A simple and sensitive high performance liquid chromatographic method to quantitate ${\alpha}-keto$ acids in serum and urine was investigated. ${\alpha}-Keto$ acids react with 1,2-diamino-4,5-methylenedioxybenzene (DMB) in the presence of 2-mercapto-ethanol and sodium hydrogen sulfite to form highly fluorescent derivatives, substituted 6,7-methylenedioxyquinoxalinol. The derivatization procedure was performed in water bath at $100^{\circ}C$, and completed within 50 min. By the use of a reversed-phase column and multi-step gradient with two solvents, a mixture containing twelve of these derivatives were efficiently resolved within 35 minutes. The optimal wavelengh of the fluorescence detector are ${\lambda}_{ex}=364\;nm$ and ${\lambda}_{em}=445\;nm$. The quantitation of the individual ${\alpha}-Keto$ acids was reproducible with relative standard deviation of $3.0{\sim}7.9%$ and had a detection limits of $10{\sim}60$ fmol, except for p-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid (960 fmol).

Real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) has emerged as an important tool for testing large and complex structures with a focus on rate-dependent specimen behavior. Due to the real-time constraints, accurate dynamic control of servo-hydraulic actuators is required. These actuators are necessary to realize the desired displacements of the specimen, however they introduce unwanted dynamics into the RTHS loop. Model-based actuator control strategies are based on linearized models of the servo-hydraulic system, where the controller is taken as the model inverse to effectively cancel out the servo-hydraulic dynamics (i.e., model-based feedforward control). An accurate model of a servo-hydraulic system generally contains more poles than zeros, leading to an improper inverse (i.e., more zeros than poles). Rather than introduce additional poles to create a proper inverse controller, the higher order derivatives necessary for implementing the improper inverse can be calculated from available information. The backward-difference method is proposed as an alternative to discretize an improper continuous time model for use as a feedforward controller in RTHS. This method is flexible in that derivatives of any order can be explicitly calculated such that controllers can be developed for models of any order. Using model-based feedforward control with the backward-difference method, accurate actuator control and stable RTHS are demonstrated using a nine-story steel building model implemented with an MR damper.
