Cumulative Weighted Score Control Schemes for Controlling the Mean of a Continuous Production Process

  • Cumulative sum schemes based on a weighted score are considered for controlling the mean of a continuous production process; in which both the one-sided and two-sided schemes are proposed. The average run lengths and the run length distributions for the proposed schemes are obtained by the Markov chain approach. Comparisons by the average run length show that the proposed schemes perform nearly as well as the standard cumulative sum schemes in detecting changes in the process mean. Comparisons of the one-sided schemes by the run length distribution are also presented.

  • Digital Textile Printing(DTP) is appropriate for quick response system(QRS) and is closely connected with high value added fashion industry. Fashion products of high price are mainly silk and cotton. For high quality DTP products, it is important to optimize the parameters of media, pre and after-treatment, ink, printer, etc. DTP for these two fiber materials is also accompanied certainly with steaming as after-treatment process for coloration. Role of steam is like water in exhaustion dyeing. Steam can diffuse dye or ink in printing paste to fiber. Quality of DTP products depend on after-treatment processes such as steaming, washing, drying. Current production amount of DTP is smaller than one of conventional textile printing. However conventional after-treatment system has been using so far. This is mismatched with DTP in terms of process efficiency, spot work of small lot, quality control. In this study, continuous after-treatment system has been suitably designed for DTP that washing and drying are available after steaming. So, It is possible to improve efficiency of DTP process. Especially, the effects of after-treatment process, such as temperature of heat drum, steaming time on printability, color difference, color fastness were examined. Two types of samples(cotton knit and silk fabrics) were used. The results were obtained as follows : First, there is no a wide difference between the K/S values of cotton and silk treated with continuous after-treatment system and those of sample treated with conventional printing after-treatment method. So it is more effective to use the continuous after-treatment system than conventional printing after-treatment system in case of the daily throughput of 1,000 yards below. Second, after continuous after-treatment for DTP, K/S values were increased and lightness($L^*$) values were decreased. ${\Delta}E$ values were below 2.3. Third, DTP samples treated with continuous after-treatment system were tested for fastness(washing, light, rubbing). Grades of fastness(washing, light, rubbing) were above 3 grade.

다목적함수 최적화를 위한 새로운 진화적 방법 연구 (A Study of New Evolutionary Approach for Multiobjective Optimization)

  • In an attempt to solve multiobjective optimization problems, many traditional methods scalarize the objective vector into a single objective. In those cases, the obtained solution is highly sensitive to the weight vector used in the scalarization process and demands the user to have knowledge about the underlying problem. Moreover, in solving multiobjective problems, designers may be interested in a set of Pareto-optimal points, instead of a single point. In this paper, pareto-based Continuous Evolutionary Algorithms for Multiobjective Optimization problems having continuous search space are introduced. This algorithm is based on Continuous Evolutionary Algorithms to solve single objective optimization problems with a continuous function and continuous search space efficiently. For multiobjective optimization, a progressive reproduction operator and a niche-formation method fur fitness sharing and a storing process for elitism are implemented in the algorithm. The operator and the niche formulation allow the solution set to be distributed widely over the Pareto-optimal tradeoff surface. Finally, the validity of this method has been demonstrated through a numerical example.

패턴 주변의 소성변형현상을 제거한 고품위 불연속패턴 가공기술 개발 (Development of machining technology for non-continuous pattern removing plastic deformation around pattern)

  • Patterned optical components are widely used for optical products such as LCD and lighting. Since CCFL was used as a light source in the products, prism films having linear continuous optical patterns were widely used. However, LED which is a dot light source is popular recently, therefore, the optical products need new optical components having non-continuous optical patterns. Indentation machining method is a powerful method for machining of non-continuous pattern. When a copper mold and a brass mold were machined by this method, severe plastic deformation called pile-up was observed around the patterns. Since pile-up has negative relationship to ductility, this deformation can be eliminated by annealing treatment which makes the materials ductile. No plastic deformation occurred when machined after annealing at $600{^{\circ}C}$ and $575{^{\circ}C}$ for copper and brass, respectively. Finally, non-continuous optical patterns with high quality were machined on a copper mold and a brass mold successively.

  • This paper is concerned with the economic selection of both the lower limit and the process mean for a continuous production process. Consider a production process where items are produced continuously. All of the items are subject to acceptance inspection. The items for which the measured values of the quality characteristic are larger than the lower limit are accepted, and those smaller than the lower limit are rejected and excluded from shipment. The process mean may be set higher to reduce the costs incurred by imperfect quality. Using a higher process mean, however, results in a higher production cost when production cost is an increasing function of the quality characteristic. Assuming that the quality characteristic is normally distributed with known variability, cost models are constructed which involve production cost, cost incurred by imperfect quality, rejection cost, and inspection cost. Methods of finding optimal values of the lower limit and the process mean are presented and numerical examples are given.

  • The new rheology fabrication process has been developed to rheo die casting and rheo forming process. Thixoforming process has disadvantages in terms of induction reheating process, scrap recycling, loss of raw material and cycle time. Therefore, to reduce the number of process, new rheology fabrication process with specially designed the rotational barrel type equipment has been proposed to apply in various part productions. The barrel type equipment, which could continuously fabricate the rheology materil, was specially designed to have a function to control cooling rate, shear rate and temperature. During the continuous rotation of barrel with a constant temperature, the shear rate is controlled with the rotation speed. The barrel surface has both the induction heating system and the cooling system to control the temperature of molten metal. By using this system, the effect of the rotation speed and the rotation time on the microstructure was widely examined. The possibility for the rheoforming process was investigated with microstructural characteristic.

This paper suggest the step process how to measure quality cost reasonably that works in all types organizations. Or what is continuous improvement? Continuous improvement can be described as the continuous reduction of variation. Variation has many sources(machines, methods, materials, measurements, people, and environments) and cause(special & common in organization). As quality cost are not the answer to every organization financial, or quality-related problem, it's real results are designing & implementing quality cost system might be the answer.

Two dimensional analysis of axial segregation by convection-diffusion model in batchwise and continuous Czochralski process

  • It is shown theoretically that uniform axial dopant concentration distribution can be made throughout the crystal by continuous Czochralski process. Numerical simulation are performed for the transient two-dimensional convection-diffusion model. A typical value of the growth and system parameters for Czochralski growth of p-type, 4 inches silicon crystal was used in the numerical calculations. Using this model with proper model parameter, the axial segregation in batchwise Czochralski growth can be described. It is studied by comparing with the experimental data. With this model parameter, the uniform axial concentration distribution of dopant is predicted in continuous Czochralski process.

  • Two-dimensional turbulent fluid flow and solidification were investigated in a continuous casting process of a steel slab with electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field was described by the Maxwell equations. The enthalpy-porosity relation was employed to suppress the velocity within a mushy region. A revised low-Reynolds number $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was used to consider the turbulent effects. It is shown that the temperature gradient in the casting direction in the case with EMBR becomes very weak compared to that of the case without EMBR. The results also show that the velocity profiles of the case with solidification are quite different from those of the case without solidification.

  • 회분식 공정의 HAZOP 분석 전문가 시스템은 연속 공정의 HAZOP 분석 기법과는 달리 time과 sequence라는 이산적인 변수들을 고려해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이산 변수들과 연속 변수들의 관계를 이용하여 회분식 공정의 time과 sequence 해석을 수행하는 회분식 공정의 HAZOP 분석 자동화를 위한 전문가 시스템을 개발하였다. 제안된 전문가 시스템을 Latex 제조 공정에 적용하여 그 실효성을 검토하였다.
