Field Survey of structural and Environmental Characteristics of Pig Houses in the Southern Provinces in Korea (전업양축농가를 위한 남부지방 돈사의 구존 및 환경실태조사)

  • The structural and environmental characteristics of typical pig houses in different growth phases were surveyed and analyzed. Based on the data for thirty nine selected farms in four provinces, Jeonbuk-do, Jeonnam-do, Gyeongbuk-do, and Gyeongnam-do, in the southern provinces, Korea, the goal is to eventually establish standard pig houses of sow and litter, nursery pigs, and growing-finishing pigs. The survey included farm scale, production specialization, structural dimensions of the houses and their ventilation systems, cooling and heating systems, and floor and pit systems related to manure collection. The survey showed 90∼98% of growing-finishing pig houses adopted the sidewall curtain systems. The sidewall curtain systems, although popular, is not well insulated which leads to excessive heating costs in winter. Regarding flooring and manure collection system of the house, 23∼35% of growing-finishing houses installed scraper systems with concrete-slat floors in Gyeongsang provinces while 52∼78% did in Jeolla provinces. The cause of a large variance in flooring between tow regions could not be academically pinpointed, rather it could be attributed to the advice of neighbors who leads local pig production circle. A general trend toward enlargement and enclosure of pig houses for all growth phases was gaining popularity in most regions in recent years. A steady shift to multisite operation from continuous operation was also observed to prevent a disease transfer. The structural design of a standard pig house with its environmental control systems including ventilation and heating/cooling system was suggested for further validation study.   • In this study, we develop a novel high-throughput micronanopatterning system that can implement continuous mechanical pattern inscribing on flexible substrates using a rigid grating mold edge. We perform a conceptual design of the process principle, specific modeling, and buildup of a real system prototype. This research also carefully addresses several important issues related to processing and controlling, including precision motion, alignment, heating, and sensing to enable a successful micronanopatterning in a continuous and high-speed fashion. Various micronanopatterns with the desired profiles can be created by tuning the mold shape, temperature, force, and substrate material toward many potential applications involving electronics, photonics, displays, light sources, and sensors, which typically require a large-area and flexible configurations.

  • Compressors in Large Multi-room air conditioning system are often driven by gas heat pumps. The advantages of GHP are their high level of heating performance and low cost because they use the LNG fuel to drive engine. We developed engine control system. The developed system controls engine speed based on proportional, integral and derivative (PID) method. This controller is designed to eliminate the need for continuous operator attention on engine revolution control. The control system includes 4 spark coil drivers, fuel drivers and relay drivers to make engine's operating more stable. The experiments of control engine revolution of this system are based on the various load conditions.

  • A small air-conditioner or chiller for a constant temperature bath normally uses a constant speed compressor. The constant speed compressor is relatively inexpensive, but it uses on/off control for capacity modulation. The on/off control has several disadvantages, specifically energy loss and large temperature fluctuation. Continuous operation with a bypass system can be an alternative to on/off control, for capacity modulation. In this study, a heat pump system having a hot-gas bypass and a liquid bypass was adopted. The performance of the bypass-type heat pump was measured, by varying the bypass valve opening. The differences of the COP between the hot-gas bypass and the liquid bypass, in the cooling and heating operations, were within 2% and 1%, respectively. The liquid bypass showed a wider range of capacity control in the cooling operation but the hot-gas bypass showed a wider range of capacity control in the heating operation.

  • In this study, the fatty acid methyl ester was prepared from the vegetable oil by inducing ultrasound energy. The ultrasound energy was applied to the esterification reaction for heating and stirring effects. Ultrasonic induction results in the shortened reaction time and brings the increase of the methyl ester yield. However, the continuous introduction of ultrasound during the esterification reaction results in temperature increase, then the over-heating of reaction temperature was ineffective. Therefore, the system temperature was controlled at constant temperature state with the cooling circulation. The ultrasound induction reaction had the fatty acid methyl ester yield of 93% at the reaction time was 30 minutes, faster than the traditional esterification process.

  • Because the indoor spaces of the passenger cabin is generally airtight to secure the safety of passengers and enhance the efficiency of the cabin air conditioning performances, the contamination pattern of them are largely similar to that of general indoor spaces. Therefore, continuous supply of outdoor air is required to keep the amenity of indoor space. Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system is composed of air cleaning filter, heater and air conditioned, blower and ducts. To achieve the clean indoor environment, an integrated control of each HVAC equipment are required. In this study, we developed the air cleaning system to enhance the amenity of the railroad passenger cabin.

THE EFFECTS OF THERMOCONDENSATION TECHNIQUE USING SYSTEM BTM ON THE PERIODONTIUM (System BTM를 이용한 열가압 충전시의 치주인대내에 미치는 영향)

  • Thermocondensation root canal filling technique have been used to fill accessary canals or to obtain homogeneous root caral fillings. But these thermocondensation technique inevitably produce heat in the canal which can be transmitted through the dentin and cementum and consequently damage periodontal ligamental cells and osteoblasts. In this study, System $B^{TM}$(Analytic technology, WA.D.S.A.) was used to evaluate the reaction of periodontal ligament tissue to "Continous Wave condensation technique" introduced by Buchanan, and the transmitted root surface temperature was measured according to measured root thicknesses. 12 Mandibular incisors of two adult dogs were used for the experiment. 6 controls were filled by lateral condensation technique with sealer.3 specimens were apically filled by Continuous Wave technique at $200^{\circ}C$ for 5 seconds and remaining 3 specimens were additionally backfilled using System $B^{TM}$(Analytic technology, WA.D.S.A.) was used to evaluate the reaction of periodontal ligament tissue to "Continous Wave condensation technique" introduced by Buchanan, and the transmitted root surface temperature was measured according to measured root thicknesses. 12 Mandibular incisors of two adult dogs were used for the experiment. 6 controls were filled by lateral condensation technique with sealer.3 specimens were apically filled by Continuous Wave technique at $200^{\circ}C$ for 5 seconds and remaining 3 specimens were additionally backfilled using System $B^{TM}$ at $100^{\circ}C$ for 20 seconds. Six weeks later, the dogs were sacrificed and the teeth stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin for histologic examination. 6 extracted human teeth were used to measure the transmitted temperature. After cutting off the crown, the canals were prepared and divided into 3 groups with root thickness of 1.5mm, 1.0mm, 0.5mm, 2 teeth in each group. Inside each root canal, System $B^{TM}$ was heated as with the temperature for the apically condensed and the back filled group, and the transmitted heat was measured on the external surface of the root. The temperature of System $B^{TM}$ heat spreader at $200^{\circ}C$ and $100^{\circ}C$ was also measured at root temperature. It can be concluded as follows: 1. In the thin area (200-$250{\mu}m$) of the root, root resorption could be seen even with heating at $200^{\circ}C$ for 5 seconds. 2. When the spreader was heated at $200^{\circ}C$ for 5 seconds and additionally at $100^{\circ}C$ for 20 seconds for backfill, all teeth showed root resorption regardless of their root thickness. 3. The transmitted external root surface temperature was higher as the root thickness decreased and as the heating time increased. In the thermocompaction technique using System $B^{TM}$, the spreader should be heated for the minimal time and used only in the apical area. The heated spreader shouldn't inserted to the binding point of the canal and backfilling should be done with other means of minimally heated gutta percha technique.

  • In this paper, we introduce an approach to design multi-fuzzy controllers for the superheat and the low pressure that have an influence on energy efficiency and stabilization of aft conditioning system. Air conditioning system is composed of compressor, condenser several evaporators and several expansion valves. It is quite difficult to control the air conditioning system because the change of the refrigerant condition give an impact on the overall air conditioning system. In order to solve the drawback, we design multi-fuzzy controllers which control simultaneously both three expansion valve and one compressor for the superheat and the low pressure of air conditioning system. The proposed multi fuzzy controllers are given as two kinds of controller types such as a continuous simplified fuzzy inference type and a discrete fuzzy lookup_table type. Here the scaling factors of each fuzzy controller ate efficiently adjusted by veal coding type Genetic Algorithms. The values of performance index of the conventional type are compared with the simulation results of discrete lookup_table type and continuous simplified inference type.

  • The rotational barrel type equipment has been designed for the new rheology fabrication process. During the continuous rotation of barrel with a constant temperature, the shear rate is controlled with the rotation speed and rotation time of barrel. The barrel surface can be controlled the temperature by the induction heating and cooling system. Many experiments were widely examined by using this system with controlling the rotation speed and the rotation time. The possibility for the rheoforming process was investigated with microstructural characteristics.
