State based Context Awareness Method for Non-Player Character (자율 캐릭터를 위한 상태기반 상황인지 기법)

  • The non-player character(NPC) either cooperates with the player character to proceed the game or fight against the game player. This paper proposes the context awareness method for the natural action control of the same NPC. The context awareness method analyzes the context information of the NPC that can be utilized in the current status and creates the actions which suit the current context automatically. The context awareness method analyzes the information value of the context elements of the NPC which occur in the current context and creates natural actions of the character by utilizing the analyzed context element information. In this experiment, average performance improved by 39% and by 8% in the context awareness method as compared to the rule-based method and information gain method, respectively.

  • The advance of wireless telecommunication and observation technologies leads developing sensor and sensor network for serving the context information continuously. Besides, in order to understand and cope with the context awareness based on the sensor network, it is becoming important issue to deal with plentiful data transmitted from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a context awareness system to deal with the plentiful sensor data in a vast area such as the prevention of a forest fire, the warning system for detecting environmental pollution, and the analysis of the traffic information, etc. The proposed system consists of the context acquisition to collect and store various sensor data, the knowledge base to keep context information and context log, the rule manager to process context information depending on user defined rules, and the situation information manager to analysis and recognize the context, etc. The proposed system is implemented for managing renewable energy data management transmitted from a large scale area.

  • The Context-Awareness technology which can provide the appropriate information to the human after estimating a lot of information exceeds the time and space in the ubiquitous environment is being developed now. GIS (Geographic Information System) and LBS (Location Based Services) based context awareness is one of these kinds of technology. The context awareness based transfer guide service which can provide useful information, according to the different information which was got from different sensors which were set in different places, to the pedestrian who is using the transfer center will be introduced in this paper. About the result of the service prototype which was tested in test-bed, the context awareness information such as the inside location and density calculation's accuracy is 90%, and the response time of the service is in 10 seconds, and also, the reliability will be higher if more advanced based infra will be used, so it is consider that it can be used to provide service enough.

  • Uncertainty of result of context awareness always exists in any context-awareness computing. This falling-off in accuracy of context awareness result is mostly caused by the imperfectness and incompleteness of sensed data, because of this reasons, we must improve the accuracy of context awareness. In this article, we propose a novel approach to model the uncertain context by using ontology and context reasoning method based on Bayesian Network. Our context aware processing is divided into two parts; context modeling and context reasoning. The context modeling is based on ontology for facilitating knowledge reuse and sharing. The ontology facilitates the share and reuse of information over similar domains of not only the logical knowledge but also the uncertain knowledge. Also the ontology can be used to structure learning for Bayesian network. The context reasoning is based on Bayesian Networks for probabilistic inference to solve the uncertain reasoning in context-aware processing problem in a flexible and adaptive situation.

  • Adaptive services need to become as mobile as their users and be extended to take advantage of the constantly changing context in which they are accessed. Context-awareness is a technology to facilitate information acquisition and execution by supporting interoperability between users and devices based on users' context. The objective of this study is to develop a middleware fer dealing with context-awareness in ubiquitous computing. To achieve it, our middleware plays an important role in recognizing a moving node with mobility by using a bluetooth wireless communication technology as well as in executing an appropriate execution module according to the context acquired from a context server. In addition, for verifying the usefulness of the Proposed middleware, we develop an application system which Provides a music playing service based on context information by using our context middleware.

  • The smart home environment focuses on recognizing the context and physical entities. And this is mainly focused on the personalized service supplied conversational interactions. In this paper, we proposed the recommendation using the context awareness based information filtering that dynamically applied by the context awareness as well as the meta data in the smart home. The proposed method defined the context information and recommended the profited service for the user’s taste using the context awareness based information filtering. Accordingly, the satisfaction of users and the quality of services will be improved the efficient recommendation by supporting the distributed processing as well as the mobility of services. Finally, to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, this study applies to MovieLens dataset in the OSGi framework, and it is compared with the performance of previous studies.

  • Recommender systems have been widely advocated as a way of coping with the problem of information overload in e-business environment. Most of the existing recommender systems focused on what kind of items to recommend, although when to recommend to the target customer considering their context is an important issue. Even right item might be a spam advertisement or wrong recommendation for the customer if it can not be recommended at the right context. It is particularly important for recommendations where the user's context is changing rapidly, such as in both handheld and ubiquitous computing environment. Therefore, we propose CARS (Context-Aware Recommender System) based on CBR and context-awareness for ubiquitous computing environment. CBR is used to generate a target customer class and proper context. Context-awareness is used to gather suer context information from sensors, networks, device status, user profiles, and other sources. An illustrative case example is suggested to explain the procedure of CARS.

  • In this research paper, We have proposed an interpretation structure concerned with context-awareness which is essential to provide intelligent service. The proposed model has an interpretation structure that integrated information of both external and internal context, and been designed to keep independency between context information and application service. To verify the interpretation structure that proposed, we established a test bed (Ubi-Class) in which the concept of context awareness has been introduced to the existing class room, and constituted a scenario, and tested whether intelligent service is performed according to context interpretation.

Design of a middleware for compound context-awareness on sensor-based mobile environments

  • In this paper, we design a middleware for context-awareness which provides compound contexts from diverse sensors on a mobile device. Until now, most of context-aware application developers have taken responsibility for context processing from sensing data. Such application-level context processing causes heavily redundant data processing and leads to significant resource waste in energy as well as computing. In the proposed scheme, we define primitive and compound context map which consists of relavant sensors and features. Based on the context definition, each application demands a context of interest to the middleware, and thus similar context-aware applications inherently share context information and procesing within the middleware. We show that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the resource amounts of cpu, memory, and battery, and that the performance gain gets much more when multiple applications which need similar contexts are running.

A Development of Intelligent Context-Awareness Middleware (지능적 상황인지 미들웨어의 개발)

  • Context-Awareness system provides an appropriate service to user by recognizing situation from surrounding environment. There are many successful studies on this framework, but still has some limitations. In this paper, we are describing a context-awareness middleware that can enhance the limitation of the previous approaches. We first defined a new concept of context-awareness environment as a social intelligence. This concept implies that intelligent objects can make relationships, can aware of situation from surrounding environment, and can collaborate to accomplish a given task. The significance of the study is as follows. First, the system is capable of multi context-awareness since it is designed with a structure that supports multiple lines of reasoning. Second, the system is capable of context planning by adapting AI planning mechanism. Third, the system is capable of making the intelligent objects as a group for collaboration, and provides adaptive service to user. We have developed a prototype of the system and tested with a virtual scenario.
