  • Recent ubiquitous computing environments increasingly impact on our lives using the current technologies of sensor network and ubiquitous services. In this paper, we propose ubiquitous architectural framework for ubiquitous sleep aid service(UbiSAS) in the subset of ubiquitous computing for refreshing of human's sleep. And we examine technical feasibility. Human can recover his health through refreshing sleep from fatigue. Ubiquitous architectural framework for UbiSAS in digital home offers agreeable sleeping environment and improves recovery from fatigue. So we present new concept of ubiquitous architectural framework dissolving stress. Specially, we apply context to context-aware framework module. This context is transferred to context adaptive inference engine which has service invocation function in intelligent agent module. Ubiquitous architectural framework for UbiSAS using context adaptive rule inference engine without user intervention is technical issue. That is to say, we should take sleep comfortably during our sleeping. And sensed information during sleeping is changed to context-aware information. This presents significant information in context adaptive rule inference engine for UbiSAS. This information includes all sleeping state during sleeping in context-aware computing technique. So we propose more effective and most suitable ubiquitous architectural framework using context adaptive rule inference engine for refreshing sleep in this paper.

  • There are many actively researched works on context-aware workflows for developing intelligent robot services. It is possible to describe not only the definition of robot services but also the contextual information of user's surroundings which can be used as the transition conditions for executing those robot services. Therefore it is required to prepare a context-aware workflow document to support the intelligent robot services. In this paper, we propose a development tool which enables robot service developers to describe context-aware workflow documents and execute them. The tool users can write robot service workflows easily by using intuitive GUI of the tool. In the experiment, we showed processes of writing robot service workflows in scenario format, then automatically documenting and executing them.

  • Context-aware application plays an important role in ubiquitous computing (ubiComp) environment by providing user with anytime, anywhere services even without any explicitly triggered command. In this paper we propose a unified context-aware application model which is an essential part to develop various applications in ubiquitous computing environment. The proposed model affirms the independence between sensor and application by using unified context in the form of 5W1H. It also ensures that application exploits relatively accurate context to trigger personalized services. To show usefulness of the proposed model, we apply it to the sensors and applications in the ubiHome, a test bed for ubiComp-enabled home applications. According to the experimental results, without loss of generality, we believe it can be extended to various context-aware applications in daily life.

  • Recently, with the advances in sensor techniques and net work computing, Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) has been received a lot of attentions from various communities. The sensor nodes distributed in the sensor network tend to continuously generate a large amount of data, which is called stream data. Sensor stream data arrives in an online manner so that it is characterized as high-speed, real-time and unbounded and it requires fast data processing to get the up-to-date results. The data stream has many application domains such as traffic analysis, physical distribution, U-healthcare and so on. Therefore, there is an overwhelming need of a USN middleware for processing such online stream data to provide corresponding services to diverse applications. In this paper, we propose a novel USN middleware which can provide users both context-aware service and meaningful sequential patterns. Our proposed USN middleware is mainly focused on location based applications which use stream location data. We also show the implementation of our proposed USN middleware. By using the proposed USN middleware, we can save the developing cost of providing context aware services and stream sequential patterns mainly in location based applications.

  • With the emergence of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) paradigm, there is a growing demand for personalized services using IoT contexts acquired from heterogeneous IoT devices. However, due to the mismatch between IoT context exchange schemes of context-aware services and IoT devices, IoT applications can acquire IoT contexts only from IoT devices that support the same IoT context exchange schemes. In this paper, we propose dynamic methods to mediate those mismatches on the IoT context exchange schemes. With the proposed mediation methods, context-aware services can collect IoT contexts from heterogeneous IoT devices without considering their IoT context exchange schemes.

  • Ubiquitous computing is a vision of our future computing lifestyle in which computer systems seamlessly integrate into our everyday lives, providing services and information in anywhere and anytime fashion. Augmented reality (AR) can naturally complement ubiquitous computing by providing an intuitive and collaborative visualization and simulation interface to a three-dimensional information space embedded within physical reality. This paper presents a service framework and its applications for providing context-aware u-car maintenance services using augmented reality, which can support a rich set of ubiquitous services and collaboration. It realizes bi-augmentation between physical and virtual spaces using augmented reality. It also offers a context processing module to acquire, interpret and disseminate context information. In particular, the context processing module considers user's preferences and security profile for providing private and customer-oriented services. The prototype system has been implemented to support 3D animation, TTS (Text-to-Speech), augmented manual, annotation, and pre- and post-augmentation services in ubiquitous car service environments.

  • In an proposed Context-Aware SOA(Service Oriented Architecture) based OSGi(Open Service Gateway initiative) platform, Service provider manages relative kinds of services in an integrative basis from various sensors, puts each service in a SOAP (Simple Object access Protocol) message, and register thorn to the UDDI(Universal Description Discovery and Integration) server of service registry, service requester retrivel the specified kinds of services and call them to service provider. Recently most context-aware technologies for ubiquitous home network are mainly putting emphasis on RFID/USN and location-based technology. Because of this, service-oriented architecture researches have not been made enough. Under the environment of an OSGi service platform, various context-aware services are dynamically mapping from various sensors, new services are being offered for the asking of users, and existing services are changing. Accordingly, the data sharing between services provided, management of service life cycle, and the facilitation of service distribution are needed. Taking into considering all these factors, this study has suggested an Context-Aware SOA based eclipse SOA Tools Platform using OSGi platform that can transaction throughtput of more than 546 TPS of distributional Little's Law from ATAM(Architecture Tradeoff Analysis Method) while remaining stable other condition.

  • In the paper, we designed a context aware task-role based access control system(CAT-RACS) which can control access and prevent illegal access efficiently for various information systems in ubiquitous computing environment. CAT-RACS applied CA-TRBAC, which adds context-role concept for achieve policy composition by context information and security level attribute to be kept confidentiality of information. CA-TRBAC doesn't permit access when context isn't coincident with access control conditions, or role and task's security level aren't accord with object's security level or their level is a lower level, even if user's role and task are coincident with access control conditions. It provides security services of user authentication and access control, etc. by a context-aware security manager, and provides context-aware security services and manages context information needed in security policy configuration by a context information fusion manager. Also, it manages CA-TRBAC policy, user authentication policy, and security domain management policy by a security policy manager.

  • Nowadays the context-aware systems have been regarded as a promising opportunity to create differentiated e-marketplaces. Context-aware system aims to provide personalized services by understanding the user's current situation which is automatically acquired from the context data. This aim naturally leads us to a motivation to evaluate to what extent a system is context-aware. Even though lots of endeavors have stated about the level of context-aware system, a structured evaluation has been so far very rare. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a two-phased methodology for assessing context-aware systems. In the first phase, we perform a requisite analysis to discriminate a context-aware system from general or context-based systems. Once an information system is recognized as context-aware system, then level of collaboration, mobility and embeddedness is derived to determine the level of context-aware system in the second phase. To do so, device collaboration diagram (DCD) is proposed to visualize the system architecture. Moreover, readiness and level of system are Jointly considered in the phase to provide a development strategy for each context-aware system development project. To show the feasibility of the idea proposed in this paper, legacy context-aware systems are actually analyzed and evaluated.
