Improvement of Educational Contents to Enhance the Efficiency of Construction Worksite Safety Training

  • The prevention of safety accidents can be achieved through Harvey's 3E's: Engineering, Enforcement, and Education. On construction sites, however, enforcement and engineering did not prove to be valid ways of reducing the number of safety accidents, as enforcement and engineering have failed to overcome and/or supplement the realistic limits regarding the relatively lower education levels of construction workers and the communication issues with foreign workers. On the other hand, safety education can enable the advancement of safety management by enhancing the educational contents and their methods of delivery. To improve the efficiency of safety education via educational contents, this research conducted a qualitative and quantitative analysis on the validity of the newly educational contents by overviewing possible accident types in different work phases. Of the accident types identified by the qualitative analysis, neither highly important nor insignificant accident types were found, yet all the suggested types are found to be required. In addition, this study did not find any significant differences in the occurrence probability of safety accidents related to the level of importance of each type of accident. The qualitative analysis in this research verified that the suggested accident types can be valid, educational material that can take into account future safety accidents.

  • Universities that offer architectural engineering programs in Korea are making efforts to introduce innovation teaching methods to cultivate teamwork, creativity, flexibility of thought and practical skills needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. However, there is a lack of specific measures to support them. In this regard, this study investigated a method of application development for building construction courses applied with the innovation teaching methods. It mainly focused on 'improvement directions for existing learning management systems' and 'online learning support plans using the innovation teaching method' as research contents. It is expected that these improvement directions can be applied to the field of education through the development of mobile and web-based applications. In the follow-up research, the development of specific software for field application will be carried out.

  • This study aims to build VR using BIM at our actual site, simulate it in a realistic background, and simulate new safety-related technologies being developed by our company rather than safety education contents to review optimal use plans for each field type so that the new technology can be effectively applied in the field.

학교시설 친환경 인증사례를 통한 재료 및 자원항목 연구 (A Study on the Material and Resource of Education Facilities in Green Building Certification Criteria)

  • To promote environmentally responsible architectural practice, many nations have established their own Green Building Certification system. Until 2007, 138 Education facilities acquired certification but many people don't fully understand each item of Green building Certification Criteria yet. The purpose of this study is to analyze 40 certified Education facilities and to find the reasons why they had acquired low scores and high scores. These scores lead us to propose a way that each contents the efficient approaches and alternative visions of Education facilities. Because the part of material and resource is initial of the projects, this study focuses on it and aims to pick out the items requiring improvement for the Education facilities. We expect to be helpful for the next design works through result of this thorough study.

  • The structure of construction management service in the Construction Technology Management Act has changed recently. The new Construction Technology Promotion Act becomes effective to support and promote the development of related construction industries and construction technology for domestic and overseas markets. The purpose of research is to analyze the main contents of Construction Technology Promotion Act and to investigate corporate status, problems, and issues. The research is conducted to improve as reorganization of the CM service system based on the interviews with experts. Accordingly the research is to derive countermeasures of CM enterprises. The research results are presented in the following categories of contract awarding, project management, human resource management, general administration and staff education management as countermeasures of enterprises.

중국 건설기업의 교육훈련 시스템 분석 및 개선방안 (Assessment of Education/Training System and Improvement Plan - Focused on the Chinese Construction Industry -)

  • 본 연구에서는 중국의 건설시장 분석, 인력관리실태 조사/분석 등을 통하여 인력관리 시스템 효율화를 위한 전반적인 전략계획을 제안하고자 한다. 연구의 방법은 중국 현지 건설 기업의 관리자 및 기술자를 대상으로 설문조사 및 심층 인터뷰를 시행하고 분석하였다. 분석에 의하면 중국 건설기업들은 전반적으로 효과적인 교육/훈련의 실시에 적극적이지 못한 것으로 나타났으며 교육 및 기술인력 훈련을 위한 시스템의 구축이 미흡하고 활용 가능한 자료가 매우 한정적인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 분석 결과에서 도출된 문제점들을 기반으로 중국 건설기업의 교육시스템 개선을 위한 부문별 개선 방안을 제시하였다.

  • Due to recent enhance of safety law and regulations in construction sites, safety inspectors have been more required in construction sites. However, most of them are novice for safety inspection which have not enough experience and skill. Therefore, the novice safety inspector's performance on hazard recognition needs to be improved for effective safety management. The performance of safety inspection is influenced by the inspector's experience and background because the inspection is usually conducted by the inspector's eyes. Therefore, there is a difference in safety inspection performance between novice and experienced safety managers. This study aims to analyze the gap of risk perception between novice and experienced safety managers using quantitative visual data. For this objective, this study conducted eye tracking experiments for novice and experienced group to evaluate cognitive performance of safety risk factors. The results provides the level of safety awareness based on their experience in construction safety. The limitation of this study is a lack of the number of samples used in this study and did not consider the various characteristics of the participants. If these limitations are supplemented in future research, it can be used to develop safety education contents for novice safety managers.

  • Recently, there are three major trends in building school facilities by government. First trend is to reconstruct facilities that have been built for 30 years. Second is the creation of a new town, new construction demanded from the redeveloping area. Finally, third is to build educational convenience facilities such as gymnasium, auditorium and cafeteria etc. When building or reconstructing school facilities, it is important to consider the 7th Education curriculum. The purpose of this study is to propose the guide line of the planning the dimension of Science Laboratory in in elementary school, corresponding to teaming contents and method.

  • 세계화, 학문융합, 정보통신기술 발전 등의 사회적 변화에 맞추어 경쟁력 있는 공학교육을 위해서는 학습자 중심의 교육환경으로 변화가 요구된다. 정보통신기술을 활용한 학습방법은 교육내용과 방법을 디지털형식으로 재생산할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 학습자가 스스로 학습과정에서 지식을 구성해 나가는 구성주의적 학습자중심의 교육을 위해 효과적일 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서는 가상현실기술을 사용하여 학교수업 및 건설현장에서 안전교육용 도구로 활용할 수 있는 학습도구를 개발하였다. 학습자중심 교육도구를 개발하기 위한 요구사항을 정의하고, 이를 바탕으로 3D기반의 교육도구를 설계 구현하였으며, 학습자들을 대상으로 테스트를 실시하였다. 테스트에 참여한 학습자들은 대체적으로 교육도구의 기술적 학습적 평가도구로서의 측면에서 긍정적인 평가를 내렸다.

공공공사의 PQ 심사 시 안전평가체계 비교분석 - 한국과 미국 캘리포니아 주 LA지역의 PQ 제도를 중심으로 - (A Comparative Analysis on Safety Evaluation System in the PQ Process of Public Construction Projects - Focus on PQ process in Korea and Los Angeles, California, USA -)

  • 입찰참가자격 사전심사(Pre-Qualification: PQ)에 포함된 여러 평가항목 중, 신인도 항목에 포함된 환산재해율의 평가는 재해발생에 대한 결과에만 치중하고 있어 산재은폐, 공상처리 등의 부작용이 발생하고 있다. 따라서 기업의 적극적인 안전관리활동 및 재해예방에 대한 노력을 평가할 수 있는 사전평가지표의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 사전평가지표 수립을 위한 기초자료의 제공을 목적으로 미국 LA 지역의 공공기관에서 적용하고 있는 PQ 심사 자료를 수집 분석하여 다양한 안전관련 평가내용을 파악하였다. 그 결과, LA 지역은 과거 프로젝트에서 발생한 재해뿐만 아니라 산재보험 및 재해발생 당시의 규정위반 여부 등 다양한 사후안전관련 평가를 실시하고 있으며, 기업의 안전교육 및 재해예방 프로그램, 안전관리 계획 등 사전안전관련 내용도 평가에 반영하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 국내에서도 PQ심사에 환산재해율을 포함한 다양한 사후안전관련 평가와 함께 사전안전관련 평가지표를 수립하여 반영한다면, 기존 환산재해율의 기능을 강화함과 동시에 기업의 적극적인 안전관리활동을 유도하고, 나아가 건설산업의 재해율 감소를 기대할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
