  • Mobile content adaptation is a technology of effectively representing the contents originally built for the desktop PC on wireless mobile devices. Previous approaches for Web content adaptation are mostly device-dependent. Also, the content transformation to suit to a smaller device is done manually. Furthermore, the same contents are provided to different users regardless of their individual preferences. As a result, the user has difficulty in selecting relevant information from a heavy volume of contents since the context information related to the content is not provided. To resolve these problems, this paper proposes an enhanced method of Web content adaptation for mobile devices. In our system, the process of Web content adaptation consists of 4 stages including block filtering, block title extraction, block content summarization, and personalization through learning. Learning is initiated when the user selects the full content menu from the content summary page. As a result of learning, personalization is realized by showing the information for the relevant block at the top of the content list. A series of experiments are performed to evaluate the content adaptation for a number of Web sites including online newspapers. The results of evaluation are satisfactory, both in block filtering accuracy and in user satisfaction by personalization.

  • This paper presents a user preference description for graphics contents that is developed in the process of the MPEG-21 DIA(Digital Item Adaptation) standard. The description scheme in this paper is proposed by the authors and adopted in the current AM (Adaptation Model) document of the MPEG-21 DIA. The goal of MPEG-21 standard is providing a multimedia framework that Provides augmented and transparent use of digital contents across various networks and terminals fur the life cycle of digital contents. DI (Digital Item) is a standardized basic unit of digital contents for transaction in the scope of MPEG-21. DIA contains both media resources and metadata including rights information.

  • The purpose of the study is to examine the influence of family stress on family adaptation and investigate the mediating effect of family strength on the association between family stress and family adaptation of disabled family. As a result, family stress bas also been from multiple regression analysis revealed that family stress has a significant effect on family adaptation through family strength. Family strength is found to have a full mediation effect. In summary, the findings suggest that disabled family with higher levels of family stress are more likely to have lower family strength and lower family strength decreases the probability of conducting family adaptation. Based on these results, the researchers suggest intervention strategies that could prevent family stress, family strength and family adaptation.

  • Recently, the use and application of computer graphics in the mobile and ubiquitous environment are growing. Real-time rendering and modeling for computer graphics are due to system performance, there're lots of limitation in lower system such as PDA and cell phone etc. Therefore, we suggested the intelligent Serving Rendering Middleware which is to provide adaptation service of computer graphics contents fit to user's environment real-time whatever environment the users are in. The Service Rendering Middleware needs multi-level configurations and applications, so, in this paper we propose multi-level algorithm to decide adaptation levels are deal with separately according to device performance.

  • Users want to browse and search various web contents with mobile devices which can be used anywhere and anytime without limitations, in the same manner as desktop. But mobile devices have limited resources compared to desktop in terms of computing performance, network bandwidth, screen size for full browsing, and etc, so there are many difficulties in providing support for mobile devices to fully use desktop-based web contents. Recently, mobile network bandwidth has been greatly improved, however, since mobile devices cannot provide the same environment as desktop, users still feel inconvenienced. To provide web contents optimized for each user device, there have been studies about analyzing code to extract blocks for adaptation to a mobile environment. But since web contents are divided into several items such as menu, login, news, shopping, etc, if the block dividing basis is limited only to code or segment size, it will be difficult for users to recognize and find the items they need. Also it is necessary to resolve interface issues, which are the biggest inconvenience for users browsing in a mobile environment. In this paper, we suggest a personalized adaptation system that extracts item blocks from desktop-based web contents based on user interests, layers them, and adapts them for users so they can see preferred contents first.

Also, self efficacy was positively correlated with school adaptation of elementary student. Among the general characteristics, factors affecting school adaptation were student-teacher's relationship, school grade, gender, friendship, confidence, self-control, preferred task difficulty, body language and contents of expression significantly accounted for 57.5%. The most significant factor influencing school adaptation was confidence.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the facility adaptation characteristics, and the relationship between facility adaptation and the potential affective factors; ADL, self-efficacy, and quality of care facility, and to identify the affective factors on facility adaptation for elders in long-term care facility. Data were collected from 177 none dementia elders over 65 in 9 long-term care facilities from Jan.2, 2011 to March 15, 2011. The data were analysed through t/F test, correlation coefficient, and multiple regression (stepwise). The major findings of this study were as follow; Facility adaptation shows significant difference from admission decision maker(p=.004), religion(p=.027), and motive of admission(p=.009). And facility adaptation has weakly correlated with ADL and quality of care facility. The affective adaptation factors were decision maker, motive of admission, personal interview, religion, and perceived health status, but showed 22.8% of explanation. Thus the findings from this study could be used as bases for nursing intervention supporting elders' care facility adaptation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate college life adaptation and loneliness of non-traditional adult learners with nursing major. A cross-sectional survey was conducted on one hundred and ten participants from selected universities in G city. A structured questionnaire which included general characteristics, a College Life Adaptation Scale and a Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale was a study instrument. Descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used for data analysis. The average level of college life adaptation was 44.8, while the score for loneliness was found to be 40.3. There was a significant difference in college life adaptation according to perceived health status. Loneliness showed a significant difference according to grades. A significant positive correlation was observed between college life adaptation and loneliness. In other words, the greater the loneliness, the lower the adaptation to college life. Thus, the results suggest that Korean universities should pay close attention to psychological factors such as loneliness to improve the adaptation of non-traditional adult learners with varied backgrounds to college.
