Effects of the KMS Adoption Factor and the Compensation Factor on the Business Performance of Public Organization (공공분야의 지식관리 시스템 도입요인과 보상요인이 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • In this research, we analyzed empirically whether the valuation and compensation factor being moderating variable played the role of adjuster between KMS adoption factor(organizational factor, knowledge Informational factor, user factor) and business performance. The results of this research are as follows. First, The valuation and compensation factor affects the usage of KMS in case of organization's flexibility, trust, suitability of knowledge, degree of functional provision and perceived benefit. But it does not affect the usage of KMS in case of easiness of usage and user expertise. Second, The valuation and compensation factor affects the user's satisfaction of KMS in case of organization's flexibility, trust, degree of functional provision and user expertise. But it does not affect the user's satisfaction of KMS in case of suitability of knowledge, easiness of usage and perceived benefit.

  • As the concept of experience economy has been accelerated recently, user experience is more emphasized today, most of all. And related representative keywords are gamification. Gamification characterized by that intangible elements are produced and consumed through various interactions between providers and users and by having a structure that is difficult to generalize and objectify to economic value. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to develop a quantitative valuation indicator of concept and standardize the valuation formula covering economic value for gamification technology and overall framework from the perspective of evaluating economic values of intangible technologies such as of knowledge, design, contents, and service of a company.

  • To sustain the competitive edges in the online game industry, many publishers invest online game developers at early stages. However, the fair value of online game developers at early stages cannot be calculated with traditional valuation methods due to the high level of uncertainties in technology and market. Based on the literature reviews, we recommended real options analysis for the proper valuation methods of online game developers at early stages, and compared it with other methods using "Bluehole Studio" investment case. The case study result showed that real options analysis is better in explaining the market value as expected.

  • Companies are attempting application of open source software development approach method as new alternatives to solve roiling pints of the existing software developments such as quality of software, development speeds and cost. On the other hand, various analyses about open source software were performed, but concrete procedures or the results of suitable study about a way to utilize open source for a software development in actual industry are not yet. This study presented process model for identification, valuation selection of suitable open source, and modification application or commercializing.

  • Although the value of technology is evaluated by various methods, the result of technology valuation is different from evaluator and evaluation methods. Also the uncertainty on the result occurs with respect to the evaluation factors and evaluation model which should be considered. In the case of lack of data or comparison target, the credibility of the technology valuation result could be unsure. To decrease uncertainty of the technology valuation, Fuzzy concept and Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation method are applied instead of using existing methods which evaluate technology value(level) by the number. In the research, we firstly devide evaluation criteria into technology value factor and business value factor and evaluate the technology level for micro pressure wave reduction technology which has been developed in Korea. Technology value factor is marked as high level with 46%, and business value factor is very high with 44%, and the overall level of technology is evaluated between very high and high. It helps to compare to other technology in the rivalry by the factors as it can evaluate the value of technology by factors. The technology valuation method which is applied in this research is expected to use on analyzing technology level of new technology or alternative technology in many different field.

  • For securing technology and business competences of companies that is the engine of domestic industrial growth, government-supported policy programs for the creation of commercialization results in various forms such as 『Technology Transaction Market Vitalization』 and 『Technology Finance-based R&D Commercialization Support』 have been carried out since 2014. So far, various studies on technology valuation theories and evaluation variables have been formalized by experts from various fields, and have been utilized in the field of technology commercialization. However, Their practicality has been questioned due to the existing constraint that valuation results are assessed lower than the expectation in the evaluation sector. Even considering that the evaluation results may differ depending on factors such as the corporate situation and investment environment, it is necessary to establish a reference infrastructure to secure the objectivity and reliability of the technology valuation results. In this study, we investigate the evaluation infrastructure built by each institution and examine whether the latest artificial neural networks and deep learning technologies are applicable for performing predictive simulation of technology values based on principal variables, and predicting sales estimates and qualitative evaluation scores in order to embed onto the technology valuation system.

  • In this study, we surveyed the public awareness about cyber security. Through the survey, we found the awareness for cyber threats that are easily exposed to the public, the one is felt anxiety by the people, and harmful contents in the online. As a result, we analyzed the various cyber threats, and found the internet usage environments, thoughts on unhealthy contents, person in charge of prevention and its methods. The results of the study can be considered as the bases of the extracting requirements for designing convergence research items in the cyber security, and they also suggested its utilization.

  • Although the methodology and models to assess the economic value of technology assets such as patents are being presented in various ways, there does not exist a structured assessment model which enables to objectively assess a database property's value, and thus there is a need to enhance the application feasibility of practical purposes such as licensing of DB assets, commercialization transfer, security, etc., through the establishment of the valuation model and the life-cycle decision logic. In this study, during the valuation process of DB assets, the size of customer demand group expected and the amount of demand, the size and importance of data sets, the approximate degree of database' contribution to the sales performance of a company, the life-cycle of database assets, etc. will be analyzed whether they are appropriate as input variables or not. As for most of DB assets, due to irregular updates there are hardly cases their life-cycle expires, and thus software package's persisting period, ie. 5 years, is often considered the standard. We herein propose the life-cycle estimation logic and valuation models of DB assets based on the concept of half life for DB usage frequency under the condition that DB assets' value decays and there occurs no data update over time.

Valuation of the stabilization plan for the foot-and-mouth disease burial sites

  • About 4,500 mass burial sites of carcasses from the 2010/2011 outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth (FMD) disease in Korea show very slow stabilization speed, although more than 3 years have passed. Therefore, a plan is being considered to boost the speed of stabilization or removal. This is a study on the social value of the removal plan for 4,500 mass burial sites from the 2010/2011 outbreak of FMD in Korea. This valuation is based on the survey of 1,000 people living all over Korea. Korean people have a willingness to pay 101.2 billion Korean Won (about US $100 million). This value is a large amount, but it is small compared to the cost of a FMD outbreak. The cost for the Korean government from 5 outbreaks since 2000 ranged from 28.8 billion Won to 3.2 trillion Won. These were the costs only paid by the Korean government. One estimate reported that there would be a total damage of 1.4 trillion Won, if FMD outbreak occurs in Jeju Islands, a small part of Korea. If burial sites have very slow stabilization speed and some hazardous contents, the social damage will exceed the removal cost.

The Effect of Brand Reputation on Stock Price: Focused on Game Firms (브랜드 평판이 주가에 미치는 영향: 게임 기업을 중심으로)

  • Recently, the importance of not only financial factors from financial statements but also non-financial factors such as consumers' evaluation and loyalty to game content is more emphasized when assessing the value of game companies. In this study, we suggest the brand reputation index as an appropriate measure of a game company's valuation and examine the effect of the brand reputation on game companies' stock price using the observations of Korean major 30 game companies. From the empirical results, we find that there is a significantly positive association between the brand reputation index and the game companies' stock price. This explains that the brand reputation of game companies can directly affect their firm value. The findings are expected to contribute to capital markets and academia as they have presented empirical evidence of the importance of brand reputation as a non-financial measure for the valuation of game companies.
