  • The purpose of this study is to define the aesthetic consciousness in the late Modernism fashion which generated a sudden style change and craze, and to identify the essential meaning of the style. In order to achieve this the aesthetic approach was applied. Visual commonalities were sought between fashion and contemporary architecture, furniture, ceramic and metalware, to lead to a deeper insight into the aesthetic consciousness. Common visual characteristics are curvedness of the line, obliqueness of the line, asymmetry of the form, exaggeration of the form and symbolic nature of the form. The content which can be analogized from the visual characteristics are the beauty of the nature, the beauty of the glamourous feminity, the beauty of the ideal and the beauty of the creative personality. In the creating process, the existential aspect of human being became a focus of attention, and human being's subjectivity operated as a principal force. In the late Modernism fashion, the appreciator's aesthetic experience became more important, and the appreciator's psychological satisfaction and pleasure were considered in the creative process. Fashion, architecture and crafts, which fulfill functional duties in everyday life, facilitated the appreciator's aesthetic experience through empathy. This study inquires into the relationship between aesthetic consciousness and visual form. This study offers meaning because to uncover the connoted aesthetic consciousness in the late Modernism fashion is to pursue the roots of current aesthetic consciousness and it is hoped that in doing so this study will provide a basis for interpreting and understanding today's fashion style.

  • Sonia Delaunay was among the group of avant-garde artists drawn to Paris in the early part of this century who were exploring concepts of art that were felt to capture best the speed and me chanization of the modern world. She believed modernity-and her own attitude toward modern life-could be expressed through the primacy of color in art the dynamic inter-play of its dissonances and harmonies. The metap-hysical implications Delauny felt inherent in this idea made it applicable to all surfaces, and she was compelled to transform the world around her ac-cording to it. She set up a dialogue between fine art and everyday objects and accompplished the transition from representation work to her color theory through her investigation in embroidery and collage. In order to achieve this design pattern, Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended was used to design the animal motifs, and then they were arranged via bidirectional layout. And to conclude, development of the creative textile design using the mythic contents of Jacheongbi contribute to invigorating the fashion industry and regional culture contents projects in Jeju, and also become the basis of creating added value to it.

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis types of light and to find the characteristics of light in contemporary fashion design. In a scientific context, light is electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength that has the characteristics of straightness, reflection, refraction, scattering and diffraction. But in philosophical speculations, light has been used as a metaphor of 'being', 'to-be' or 'enlightenment.' And through the ages, people have tried to represent and apply the light into plastic art like painting and architecture. The types of light in fashion design was categorized as those; reflective light from the surface of clothing which is the result of interaction between illumination and material, representative light as the pattern of light or light effect such as sun or its rays and optical or psychedelic patterns, luminescent light from light emitting material like phosphorescence or LED which combines into fashion design, projective light from a medium to reveal virtual patterns on the surface or a fashion design itself using holography. These lights in fashion design can be considered as reflection of emphasis of sexuality, longing for fantasy and mystique, visualization of interaction and communication and groping for the play.
