컨테이너 터미널에서 컨테이너 크레인의 하역능력 추정에 관한 시뮬레이션 연구 (A Simulation Study on Efficiency of Container Crane in Container Terminal)

  • This paper describes the simulation study which estimates the container crane efficiency in container terminal. In most simulation studies, it is assumed that container cranes are available at any time. Though the failures of container cranes don't occur often, they are very serious problems on terminal efficiency. As usual, the failures of container crane cause arrived ships to delay the departure time. In this study, a queueing simulation model for container terminal, which focuses on the failures of container cranes, is designed. The simulation approach appears to be the most appropriate one because it allows to avoid the usual exponential assumption on interarrivals of ships and service times of container cranes. Using the developed model, we tested the efficiency of container cranes considering failures with a real system size and performed the simulation experiment on real container terminal to validate the developed simulation model. The results of simulation experiment were analyzed using output statistics, which include the waiting times of vessels and yard tractors, the utilization for container cranes, and the berth occupancy rates.

시뮬레이션 기법을 이용한 컨테이너 터미널의 자원할당 전략에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Resource Allocation Strategies of the Container Terminals Using Simulation Technique)

  • This paper presents an estimation method of container handling capacity and selection of resource allocation strategies of container terminals using the computer simulation models. Simulation models are developed to model container terminal consisting of 4 berths considering the berth allocation strategies, crane allocation strategies and the total number of container cranes using Arena simulation package. The proposed models do not consider the yard operations and gate operations. All the input parameters for the models are estimated on the basis of the existing container terminal operation data and the planning data for the automated container terminal planned by Korean government. Four berth allocation strategies and three crane allocation strategies are considered. The total number of container cranes considered ranges from 12 to 15. Non-terminating simulation techniques are utilized for the performance comparison among alternatives. The performance measures such as average ship turnaround time, average ship waiting time, average ship service time, the number of containers handled per year, and the number of ships processed per year are used. The result shows that the berth allocation strategy minimizing the sum of the number of ships waiting, the number of busy container cranes and number of ships handled performs better than any other berth allocation strategies. In addition, the crane allocation strategy allocating up to 5 container cranes per berth performs better than any other crane allocation strategies. Finally there are no significant performance differences among the alternatives consisting of different total number of container cranes allocated.

  • Automated container terminals have been developed over the world years and many countries are interested in them because the amount of containers exported or imported is rapidly increasing. The conventional container terminals were not designed to handle this kind of heavily many containers. They would face many structural problems soon or later, although they have been managed to do well so far. One of the most important things in automated container terminal is the handing equipments able to transfer many containers efficiently. Those are maybe automated transfer cranes, automatic guided vehicles and automated quay-side cranes. The word 'automated' means the equipment is operated without drivers and those equipments are able to work without any interruption in working schedule. Through the researches on the conventional transfer cranes, we decided that the structure of conventional transfer cranes is not proper in automated container terminal and it is not possible to handle so many container in limited time. Therefore we have been studying on the proper structure of the automated container for past several years and a new type of transfer cranes has been developed. Design concept and control method of the new crane are introduced and experimental results are presented in this paper.his paper.

  • The objective of this paper is to analyze the combined productivity at automated container terminal. We present a simulation model for transport vehicle that perform the container transportation between apron and yard with a perpendicular yard layout. Usually, the efficiency of container terminal is evaluated by productivity of container cranes at apron, and though there are enough support of transport vehicles and yard cranes, can improve the productivity of container cranes. Especially, transport vehicle is very important factor in productivity of container cranes and has variable work productivity according to loading and unloading situation. Therefore, a method that can estimate combined productivity of equipment is required. We performed various simulation experiment and analyzed combined productivity to estimate the required number of equipment.

Probabilistic and spectral modelling of dynamic wind effects of quayside container cranes

  • Quayside container cranes are important delivery machineries located in the most frontiers of container terminals, where strong wind attacks happen occasionally. Since the previous researches on quayside container cranes mainly focused on the mean wind load and static response characteristics, the fluctuating wind load and dynamic response characteristics require further investigations. In the present study, the aerodynamic wind loads on quayside container cranes were obtained from wind tunnel tests. The probabilistic and spectral models of the fluctuating aerodynamic loads were established. Then the joint probabilistic distributions of dynamic wind-induced responses were derived theoretically based on a series of Gaussian and independent assumption of resonant components. Finally, the results were validated by time domain analysis using wind tunnel data. It is concluded that the assumptions are acceptable. And the presented approach can estimate peak dynamic sliding force, overturning moments and leg uplifts of quayside container cranes effectively and efficiently.

  • Various different types of yard cranes are used in container terminals. Examples are rubber tired gantry cranes,rail mounted gantry cranes, overhead bridge cranes, dual rail-mounted gantry cranes, and automated stacking cranes. The kinematics and handling characteristics of these yard cranes are different from each other. Ttiis study analyses charactehstics of generic types of yard cranes which represent various yard cranes m practice Demg used in several types of block layouts, Considering specifications of yard cranes and block layouts, expected cycle times and variances of the cycle time are estimated for different handling activities.

  • 컨테이너터미널에서 사용되는 컨테이너 크레인은 컨테이너 선박의 컨테이너를 양적하하는 주요 장비이다. 크레인이 고장이 나면, 컨테이너터미널의 생산성을 감소시킬 것이다. 본 논문은 컨테이너 크레인에 대한 예방정비 일정을 다룬다. 컨테이너 크레인은 많은 부품으로 구성되고 3개의 모델을 사용하여 컨테이너 크레인의 구조를 분석한다. 그리고 최적의 예방정비 일정을 결정하기 위하여 유전자 알고리즘을 적용하고 시뮬레이션 시스템을 통해서 제안된 방법의 성능을 평가한다. 마지막으로 작업일정에 기초하여 산업체에서 발견된 예방정비 일정을 조정하는 방법을 설명한다.

  • This article describes the time delay control of the 3-dimensional motion of the container cranes used in dockside container terminals. The container is suspended by four flexible cables via spreader, and due to the disturbances such as the wind and acceleration of cranes, the container undergoes translational(sway) and rotational position errors. And due to the uncertainty of weight and rotational inertia, accurate position control of container crane is difficult to realize. This paper, based on the analysis of 3-dimensional dynamics of container moving systems, develops time delay control algorithm [1]. The developed control algorithm is shown effective in controlling the container position in the presence of gust and parameter uncertainties.

  • 본 연구에서는 수직블록배치형태를 가지는 자동화 컨테이너 터미널을 대상으로 안벽과 야드의 연계작업을 수행하는 이송장비에 대한 시뮬레이션 모델을 수립하였다. 일반적으로 컨테이너 터미널은 안벽장비의 생산성으로 효율성이 평가되며, 안벽장비의 생산성을 최대화하기 위해서는 이송장비와 야드장비의 원활한 지원이 이루어져야 한다. 이중 이송장비는 직접적으로 연계작업을 수행하므로 안벽장비의 생산성에 많은 영향을 미치며, 안벽장비의 성능을 최대화 할 수 있는 이송장비의 작업생산성이 요구된다. 이송장비의 작업생산성은 장비 자체의 성능 외에 가변적인 작업 상황에 따라 작업생산성이 달라지게 되는데, 본 연구에서는 이송장비의 작업생산성을 효율적으로 평가할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 모델을 수립하고, 수립된 모델을 통해 가상환경에서 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 이송장비의 작업생산성과 적정 소요대수를 산출해 보았다.
