In the maritime container terminal. LMCTS (Linear Motor-based Container Transfer System) is horizontal transfer system for the yard automation, which In., been proposed to take the place of AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle). The system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that is consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car (mover). Because of large variant of mover's weight by loading and unloading containers, the difference of each characteristic of stator modules, and a stator module's trouble etc. LMCTS is considered as that the system is changed its model suddenly and variously. In this paper, we will introduce the softcomputing method of a multi-step prediction control for LMCTS using DR- FNN (Dynamically-constructed Recurrent Fuzzy Neural Network). The proposed control system is used two networks for multi step prediction Consequently, the system has an ability to adapt for external disturbance, detent force, force ripple, and sudden changes by loading and unloading the container.

The contents of reef container face a risk of being damaged if the interior temperature and certain maintenance conditions for the shipments cannot be met. Currently, the temperature and other conditions within a reefer container is checked manually and periodically by someone in charge of it. Since it means that there is no real-time checking of the conditions, if something goes wrong, there is no immediate means of correcting the problem. This paper introduces reefer container monitoring system, that checks interior temperature of container on real-time by sensor nodes attaching reefer container using wireless sensor network. It senses the temperature, amount of light, motion and the change in speed of the objects that distributes sensors throughout the desired places and sends the data wirelessly to anyone interested. Because the prosed technique can check the temperature and other conditions within a reefer container on real-time basis, it enables efficient and effective maintenance of temperature and other conditions

Todays the efficient management of container has not been realized in container terminal, because of the excessive quantity of container transported and manual system. For the efficient and automated management of container in terminal, the automated container identifier recognition system in terminal is a significant problem. However, the identifier recognition rate is decreased owing to the difficulty of image preprocessing caused the refraction of container surface, the change of weather and the damaged identifier characters. Therefore, this paper proposes more accurate system for container identifier recognition as suggestion of Line-Scan Proper Region Detect for stronger preprocessing against external noisy element and Moment Back-Propagation Neural Network to recognize identifier.

In recent years, the transportation sector has been undergoing very rapid and multifarious changes due to the M&A, alliances between shipping companies, introduction of larger container ship as it cost reduction measure and the application of integrated logistics to satisfy the needs of customers. Therefore, container terminal is required adequate terminal facilities, sufficient channel depth, efficient handling and low cost of port fees and dues. The purpose of this paper is for functional assessment of efficient container terminal. Firstly, the container operating process information about yard equipment and chassis is extracted through the analysis of practical daily work report of container terminal. Also, the formulae of skill factor and troubles of operator on transfer crane are defined. Lastly, container handling simulation model which consideration of skill factor and trouble of operator is proposed by Petri network model.
Incheon port attained two million TEU of container throughput between 2013 and 2014 as a third port in domestic container throughput. It opened a new port in Song-do, Incheon in June 2015 to prepare for the continuing increase in container throughput. Therefore, it has provided the platform for being the major container port domestically and internationally. As the role of the new port increases, the role and direction of the Incheon port liner service network attracts attention. This study analyzes the centrality of the Incheon port liner service network by using SNA (Social Network Analysis), which was introduced in the maritime economics area recently, focusing on the Incheon port liner service network. We recognize the degree centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality of each port and its effect on the Incheon port liner service network. The study showed that for Incheon port, the centrality of the Busan port in Korea, and the Hong Kong port, is high outside the country. This helps us determine that the hub of the Incheon port is neither Shanghai nor Singapore, which ranks first and second, respectively, on container throughput. It is also helps us to know that eastern China's ports have not played a role of the hub of the Incheon port until now because of the relatively low centrality of eastern China's ports.
Competitiveness of container ports has been traditionally evaluated by capability of individual ports to provide services to customers or their service quality. However, since container ports are connected by container shipping networks to varying degrees, the status of the ports in liner shipping service networks also determines competitiveness of the ports. Sometimes same ports may play different roles in different forms of shipping networks. Shipping network connections that formulate in container ports therefore have more significant impact on their performance than service capabilities they have. This study aims to explore how the shipping and port network has been structured and changed in the past and to examine the network characteristics of ports using Social Network Analysis(SNA). In this SNA study, nodes in the network are the ports-of-call of the liner shipping services and links in the network are connections realized by vessel movements, such that the liner shipping networks determine the port networks. This study, therefore, investigates the liner shipping networks and through its results demonstrates the network characteristics of the ports that are represented by the four centrality indices. This provides port authorities and terminal operating companies with managerial implications to enhance competitiveness from customers' perspectives.

Today international trade through maritime transportation is significantly increasing. Due to this increase, shipping companies are faced with problems concerning the repositioning of empty containers from import dominant ports. The liner shipping service network has been provided to transport containers which load customers' freights. Container ships are moved on the liner shipping service network by observing the predetermined route and transportation time. This research deals with the empty containers distribution problem considering the container ship route. A mathematical model based on the mixed integer program has been introduced in this study. The objective is to minimize the total relevant costs of empty containers such as handling, leasing, and inventory holding, etc. Due to the complexity of the problem, a genetic algorithm has been suggested to solve large sized problems within a reasonable time. Numerical experiments have been conducted to show the efficiency of the genetic algorithm.

The container packing problem Is one of the traditional optimization problems, which is very related to the knapsack problem and the bin packing problem. In this paper, we deal with the quadratic multiple container picking problem (QMCPP) and it Is known as a NP-hard problem. Thus, It seems to be natural to use a heuristic approach such as evolutionary algorithms for solving the QMCPP. Until now, only a few researchers have studied on this problem and some evolutionary algorithms have been proposed. This paper introduces a new efficient evolutionary algorithm for the QMCPP. The proposed algorithm is devised by improving the original network random key method, which is employed as an encoding method in evolutionary algorithms. And we also propose local search algorithms and incorporate them with the proposed evolutionary algorithm. Finally we compare the proposed algorithm with the previous algorithms and show the proposed algorithm finds the new best results in most of the benchmark instances.

In the Port Logistics system, Container Stowage planning is an important issue for cost-effective efficiency improvements. At present, Planners are mainly carrying out Stowage planning by manual or semi-automatically. However, as the trend of super-large container ships continues, it is difficult to calculate an efficient Stowage plan with manpower. With the recent rapid development of artificial intelligence-related technologies, many studies have been conducted to apply enhanced learning to optimization problems. Accordingly, in this paper, we intend to develop and present a Deep Q-Learning Network model for the Master Stowage planning of Container ships.
