Development of the Odometer System for the Intelligent Pig (인텔리전트 피그를 위한 주행거리계의 개발)

  • This paper introduces the spring-mounted odometer system which maintains the correct contact with the pipe wall and measures the distance along the pipe. The odometer wheel is designed to keep contact to the pipelines inner wall and to generate fifty rectangular pulses per one turn(l59.5681mm) during pigging. The pipeline has the defects in various types such as buckles, winkles, cracks, dents, welding point and so on. Specially, girth welding points which exist each 12m of the pipeline, much affects the operational environment of the odometer. The measurement error of the distance along the pipe is accumulated, for the measurement error of wheel's circumference and the pipeline inner environment. So, this paper proposes the method for the error compensation based on the analysis of the odometer's behavior around the girth welding point of pipe. The experimental results show that developed odometer system can be used for the intelligent pig with good performances.

Contact lens Prescription and Satisfaction with Astigmatism Eye (난시안의 콘택트렌즈 처방과 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • For this study we made up a question investigation to analyze a grade of satisfaction and a side effect about the prescription actual condition of contact lens of person with astigmatism among the person who has a error of refraction. The whole patient of refractive error was 46 person, there were 11 person who only wear spectacles by correction of visual acuity among person to a question investigation and 35 person who only wear contact lens. Under investigation 35 person who only wear contact lens, there were 25 person who experience the problem which occurs because of contact lens wearing for a long time. The most patient who made up a question investigation very choose remainder item except for item of very satisfaction. The their reason that could not satisfaction was non corrected astigmatism, wrong prescription, wrong Base curve, out of life span etc.

Finite element modeling of contact between an elastic layer and two elastic quarter planes

  • In this study, a two dimensional model of receding contact problem has been analyzed using finite element method (FEM) based software ANSYS and ABAQUS. For this aim finite element modeling of elastic layer and two homogeneous, isotropic and symmetrical elastic quarter planes pressed by means of a rigid circular punch has been presented. Mass forces and friction are neglected in the solution. Since the problem is examined for the plane state, the thickness along the z-axis direction is taken as a unit. In order to check the accuracy of the present models, the obtained results are compared with the available results of the open literature as well as the results of two software are compared using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and good agreements are found. Numerical analyses are performed considering different values of the external load, rigid circular radius, quarter planes span length and material properties. The contact lengths and contact stresses of these values are examined, and their results are presented. Consequently, it is concluded that the considered non-dimensional quantities have noteworthy influence on the contact lengths and contact stress distributions, additionally if FEM analysis is used correctly, it can be an efficient alternative method to the analytical solutions that need time.

  • This paper describes an analysis of measuring error of on the machine measuring(OMM) system which directly measures machined surface dimensions using scanning probe on a CNC milling machine. 21 inch TV shadow mask mould clamped to a pallet was measured using PTP(point to point) measuring algorithm in OMM system and the results were compared with those using coordinate measuring machine(CMM). The OMM error was evaluated by probe error, stylus contact error, center shift error, repeatability, work-piece clamping error and etc. The results show that elastic deformation of the pallet is most affecting factor on the measuring error, thus pallet design and clamping method need very careful cosiderations.

  • In this study, to describe vehicle-track-bridge dynamic interaction phenomena with 1/4 vehicle model, nonlinear Hertzian contact spring and nonlinear contact damper are introduced. In this approach external loads acting on 1/4 vehicle model are self weight of vehicle and geometry information of running surface. The constraint equation on contact surface is implemented by Penalty method. Also, to improve the numerical stability and to maintain accuracy of solution, the artificial damper and the reaction from constraint violation are introduced. A nonlinear time integration method, in this study, Newmark method is adopted for both equations of vehicles and structure. And to reduce the error caused by inadequate time step size, adaptive time-stepping technique is partially introduced. As the nonlinear Hertzian contact spring has no resistance to tensile force, the bouncing phenomena of wheelset can be described. Thus, it is expected that more versatile dynamic interaction phenomena can be described by this approach and it can be applied to various railway dynamic problems.

  • Active part mating algorithm using 6-axis force sensor data for the assembly automation and/or teletobotics is presented and experimented. Parts to be mated are cylindrical and have no chamfers. There are basically two modes. One is the normal mode with only a positional error, the other is the tilted mode with an orientational error in addition to a positional error. The used algorithm distinguishes a contact external to the hole from that of internal to the hole in order to perform part-mating in spite of the relative tilt between the hole and the peg.

Comparison of Induced Aniseikonia with Influential Factors (영향인자에 따른 유발 부등상시도의 비교)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to provide indicator of expected aniseikonia by correcting refractive error and to investigate influential factors on aniseikonia. Methods: 20 college students (14 males, 6 females, a mean age of $22.50{\pm}2.72$ years) were selected as subjects whose refractive error with spherical equivalent were within ${\pm}0.50$ D, corrected visual acuity were more than 1.0, and aniseikonia values by AWAYA were less than 1%. After correcting refractive error with spectacles in anisometropia induced by wearing contact lens on their dominant eye or non-dominant eye, practical measured values of aniseikonia were compared with theoretical expected values of it by the formula of spectacle magnification. Results: Practical measured values were higher than theoretical expected values in induced aniseikonia over the whole range of diopter of wearing contact lens. And there was higher measured value of aniseikonia in case of higher diopter of wearing contact lens to induce anisometropia and correcting refractive error with spectacles of (+) diopter after wearing contact lens of (-) diopter to induced anisometropia in dominant eye of women. Conclusions: It is considered that dominant eye plays more important role for visual function in induced aniseikonia and factors such as the induced eye of aniseikonia, the diopter of wearing contact lens, and gender have influenced on aniseikonia.

Comparison on Accuracy of Static and Dynamic Contact Angle Methods for Evaluating Interfacial Properties of Composites (복합재료의 계면특성 평가를 위한 접촉각 방법의 정확도 비교)

  • To analyze the interfacial property between the fiber and the matrix, work of adhesion was used generally that was calculated by surface energies. In this paper, it was determined what types of contact angle measurement methods were more accurate between static and dynamic contact angle measurements. 4 types of glass fiber and epoxy resin were used each other to measure the contact angle. The contact angle was measured using two types, static and dynamic contact angle methods, and work of adhesion, Wa was calculated to compare interfacial properties. The interfacial property was evaluated using microdroplet pull-out test. Generally, the interfacial property was proportional to work of adhesion. In the case of static contact angle, however, work of adhesion was not consistent with interfacial property. It is because that dynamic contact angle measurement comparing to static contact angle could delete the error due to microdroplet size to minimize the surface area as well as the meniscus measuring error.

Development of Automated Non-contact Thickness Measurement Machine using a Laser Sensor (레이저센서를 이용한 비접촉식 두께자동측정기 개발)

  • In this study, we developed an automated non-contact thickness measurement machine that continuously and precisely measures the thickness and warp of a PCB product using a laser sensor. The system contains a measurement part to measure the thickness in real time automatically according to the set conditions with an alignment supply unit and unloading unit to separate OK and NG products. The measurement machine was utilized to evaluate the performance at each step to minimize measurement error. At the zero setting for the initial setup, the standard deviation of the 216 samples was determined to be $5.52{\mu}m$. A measurement error of 0.5mm and 1.0mm as a standard sample in the measurement accuracy assessment was found to be 2.48% and 2.28%, respectively. In the factory acceptance test, the standard deviation of 1.461mm PCB was measured as $28.99{\mu}m$, with a $C_{pk}$ of 1.2. The automatic thickness measurement machine developed in this study can contribute to productivity and quality improvement in the mass production process.

  • To design the optimized low noise planetary gear sets, a program called pRMC(planetary run many cases) is developed. The pRMC is especially using a combination analysis method for all gear specifications and also able to analyze any type of planetary gear sets. The pRMC is composed of the 5 sections those are generate, setting, evaluate, combine and analysis. After calculating all candidate gear sets, the pRMC could show many results that represent the character of each gear set including the transmission error which is the main gear noise factor, the contact ratios, the bending stress and so on. By comparing the results objectively, user could predict and select the optimized gear set which has quiet noise level and desired durability. The planetary gear designed by pRMC could have reduced noise and vibration level from 5 to 10 dB than previous-designed one.
