Ni germanide (NiGe) is a promising alloy material with small contact resistance at the source/drain (S/D) of Ge MOSFETs. However, it is necessary to reduce the specific contact resistance between NiGe and the doped Ge S/D region in high-performance MOSFETs. In this study, a novel method is proposed to reduce the specific contact resistance between NiGe and p-type Ge (p-Ge) using a Tb interlayer. The specific contact resistance between NiGe and p-Ge was successfully decreased with the introduction of the Tb interlayer. To investigate the mechanism behind the reduction in the specific contact resistance, the elemental distribution and crystalline structure of NiGe were analyzed using secondary ion mass spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. It is likely that the reduction in specific contact resistance was caused by an increase in the concentration of boron in the space between NiGe and p-Ge due to the influence of the Tb interlayer.
$ISnO_2$ thin films were prepared on p-type and n-type Si substrates to research the interface characteristics between $SnO_2$ and substrate. After the annealing processes, the amorphous structure was formed at the interface to make a Schottky contact. The O 1s spectra showed the bond of 530.4 eV as an amorphous structure, and the Schottky contact. The analysis by the deconvoluted spectra was observed the drastic variation of oxygen vacancies at the amorphous structure because of the depletion layer is directly related to the oxygen vacancy. $SnO_2$ thin film changed the electrical properties depending on the characteristics of substrates. It was confirmed that it is useful to observe the Schottky contact's properties by complementary using the XPS analysis and I-V measurement.
In this study, the heat transfer and fluid flow characteristics of a condenser for a refrigerator are analyzed with the numerical method. The main objective of the study is to obtain basic data in order to develop a new type of condenser focused on an influence of thermal resistance of air side and thermal contact resistance on the heat transfer performance. The CFD technique was used for whole study, and experiments were performed in order to verify the reliability of the numerical analysis and predict the thermal contact resistance. In this study, a heat exchanger sample was made of a part of condenser to make the experimental and numerical analysis simple and efficient. Water was used for the inner working fluid of the heat exchanger, and an experimental apparatus was composed concisely. A heat exchanger sample of tube type was used to verify the reliability of numerical analysis, and a heat exchanger of fin and tube type was used to predict the ratio of thermal contact resistance to the overall thermal resistance.
Characteristics of ohmic Ni/Si/Ni contacts to n-type 4H-SiC are investigated systematically. The ohmic contacts were formed by annealing Ni/Si/Ni sputtered sequentially The annealings were performed at 950℃ using RTP in vacuum ambient and N₂ ambient, respectively. The specific contact resistivity(p/sub c/), sheet resistance(R/sub s/), contact resistance (R/sub c/) transfer length(L/sub T/) were calculated from resistance(R/sub T/) versus contact spacing(d) measurements obtained from TLM(transmission line method) structure. While the resulting measurement values of sample annealed at vacuum ambient were p/sub c/ = 3.8×10/sup -5/Ω㎠, R/sub c/ = 4.9 Ω and R/sub T/ = 9.8 Ω, those of sample annealed at N₂ ambient were p/sub c/ = 2.29×10/sup -4/Ω㎠, R/sub c/ = 12.9 Ω and R/sub T/ = 25.8 Ω. The physical properties of contacts were examined using XRD 3nd AES. The results showed that nickel silicide was formed on SiC and Ni was migrated into SiC. This result indicates that Ni/Si/Ni ohmic contact would be useful in high performance electronic devices.

In this study, we developed a counting method for non-contact ID cards using an optical fiber displacement sensor instead of the traditionally used friction counting method. The proposed method has the advantage of high speed and automated measurement. For counting non-contact ID cards, an H-type optical fiber sensor, jig part, and counting program are developed separately to build the system and adjust it. Through the experimental test results, it was confirmed that counting is possible with one type of international ID card and one type of financial security card based on ISO7810. Furthermore, by applying the proposed method to 100 ID cards 100 times repeatedly, it was confirmed that it has high accuracy and an error ratio of 0%. We experimentally demonstrated that the proposed counting method for non-contact ID cards using an optical fiber displacement sensor can perform measurements with high accuracy and high speed.
Fretting damage can be observed in automobile and railway vehicle, fossil and nuclear power plant, aircraft etc. In the present study, railway axle material RSA1 used for evaluation of fretting fatigue life. Plain and fretting fatigue tests were carried out using rotary bending fatigue tester with proving ring and bridge type contact pad. Through these test, the following results are obtained: 1) it is found that the fretting fatigue limit of standard specimen decreased about 37% compared to the plain fatigue limit. 2) The early crack of Shinkansen type specimens initiated in contact area and final fractured below samp=214 MPa. 3) The early crack of all TGV type specimens initiated in rounded area and fractured. 4) Tire tracks and rubbed scars were observed in the oblique crack region and fatigue crack growth region of fracture surface. 5) The wear debris is observed on the contact surface, and oblique cracks at an earlier stage are initiated in contact area. These results can be used as useful data in a structural integrity evaluation of railway axle.
The disk/blade assembly of a turbine engine is made in the shape of a dovetail type or a fir-tree type. Since disk fillet regions or contact surfaces undergo high stress comcentration, fatigue cracks frequentrly occur in the disk/blade assembly. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the stress distributions in the fir-tree type disk/balde assembly and predict the region of fatigue failure. The stress distributions of the disk/blade assembly were investigated by using the photoelastic method and the finite element method. Two dimensional photoelastic techniques were used to investigate the stress distributions of contact surfaces and fillet regions. TH stress distributions were obtained by the shear-difference method and were compared to the finite element results. It was found that maximum tensile stresses were higher in the fillet region thatn in the contact surfaces of the fir-tree models. The finite element results showed good agreement with the experimental results.
