In this study, the dynamic response of a catenary system that supplies electrical power to high-speed trains is investigated. One of the important problems which is accompanied by increasing the speed of a high-speed rail, is the performance of stable current collection. Another problem which has been encountered, is maintaining continuous contact force between the catenary and the pantograph without loss of panhead. The dynamic analyses of the catenary based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) are performed to develop a pantograph suitable for high speed operation. The static deflection of the catenary, the stiffness variation in contact lines, the dynamic response of the catenary undergoing the force of a constantly moving load and the contact force were calculated. It was confirmed that a catenary model is necessary to study the dynamic characteristics of the pantograph system.
Catenary and Pantograph are used to transmit electrical energy to electric railways. Catenary (Overhead Contact Lines) should be installed precisely and managed for stable train operations. But external factors such as weather, temperature, etc., or aging affect catenary geometry. Changed catenary stagger and height cause high voltage spark or instant electric contact loss. Big spark derived from contact loss can damage the pantograph carbon strip and overhead contact lines that might interrupt the train operations. Therefore, to prevent a big scale spark or electric contact loss, catenary maintenance are required catenary geometry measurement systems with catenary maintenance capability. In this paper, we describe the development of catenary height and stagger measurement system. The catenary height and stagger measurement system uses Acuity company's AR4000 Laser Range Finder for distance measurement and AccuRange Line Scanner for degree measurement. This system detects suspicious overhead line sections with excessive stagger and height stagger variance.
In order to investigate the change in soil arch structure developed within the soil subjected to trapdoor movement, various responses in the deformed particle assembly were observed via photoelastic measurement technique. The particle assembly was composed of the regularly stacked model particles coated by thin photoelastic material. Variation of the internal structure transmitting contact forces were observed by taking images showing the photoelastic responses and compared with the change in slip lines and pressures measured by load cells placed beneath the assembly. Initial soil arch structure established immediately after the trapdoor movement collapsed progressively and meanwhile a new extended structure was developed against further movement of the trapdoor. For the sufficient movement of the trapdoor, initially identical regions bounded by the soil arch structure and slip lines were separated and the region enclosed by slip lines became a part of the region loosing the transmitting contact forces identified by photoelastic measurement.
The sharing of common corridors by electric power transmission lines and pipelines is becoming more common place. However, such corridor sharing can result in undesired coupling of electromagnetic energy from the power lines to the near facilities. During a fault on any of the transmission lines, energization of the earth by supporting structures near the fault can result in large voltages appearing locally between the earth and the steel wall of any nearby pipeline. This paper presents the outline of the tower footings for the transmission lines having been used in KEPCO and analyzes the earth resistance for operation method of the tower footing, that is contact presence for the anchor and reinforcing rob of the tower and foundation presence of the underground wiring.
At the neutral sections, There are neutral sections inserted in overhead contact line between the substations to divide different phase current sections of AC electrified lines. except convention line, a large stress occurs in the contact wire near the fittings under passing pantographs. So, in order to raise the train speed over 150km/h, a new type section has been adopted.

A counter gear transmits the rotation angle, so the angular velocity ratio of the gear does not necessarily need to be constant in the meshing process. As a pinion has a small number of teeth when combined with an internal gear for counters, tooth interference can occur with the use of an involute curve. This paper introduces circular arcs that represent a tooth profile and fillet for the profile design of a pinion through the combination of arcs with lines. The straight line of a rack tooth represents the profile of a mating internal gear. Thus, the circular arc and line maintain contact during the rotation of the counter gear. This paper presents an analysis of the meshing of the circular arc tooth and rack tooth along with the properties of the counter gear, such as the change in rotational velocity and amount of backlash. The contact ratio of the counter gear is 1 because the tooth contact occurs between circular arcs and line. The initial position of tooth contact, which denotes the simultaneous contact of two teeth, is found. As the rotation of the pinion, only one tooth keeps the contact situation. This meshing property is analyzed by the geometrical constraints of the tooth profile in contact and the results are presented as graphical diagrams in which tooth-arc movements are superimposed.

It is necessary to analyze the exact contact position and contact stress of the wheel-rail in order to predict damage to the wheel and rail. This study presents a wheel-rail contact analysis model that considers the deformation of the axle. When a wheel-rail contact analysis is performed using a full three-dimensional model of the wheelset and rail, the analytical model becomes very inefficient due to the increase in analysis time and cost. Therefore, modeling the element-coupling model of the wheel and rail as a three-dimensional element and the axle as a one-dimensional element is proposed. The wheel-rail contact characteristics in the proposed analysis model for straight and curved lines were analyzed and compared with the conventional three-dimensional analysis model. Considering the accuracy of the analysis results and time, the result shows that the proposed analytical model has almost the same accuracy as a full three-dimensional model, but the computational effort is significantly reduced.

In this study, the dynamic characteristics of a catenary system and pantograph supplying electrical power to high-speed trains are investigated. One of the most important issues accompanied by increasing the speed of high-speed rail is stabilization of current collection. To stabilize current collection, it is necessary the contact force between the catenary and the pantograph to be kept continuous without loss of contact. The analytical model of a catenary and a pantograph is constructed to simulate the behavior of an actual system. The analysis of the catenary based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) is performed to develop a catenary model suitable for high speed operation. The reliability of the models is verified by the comparison of the excitation test with Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) data of the actual system. The static deflection of the catenary, stiffness variation in contact lines, dynamic response of the catenary undergoing constant moving load, contact force, and each state of the pantograph model were calculated. It is confirmed that a catenary and pantograph model are necessary for studying the dynamic behavior of the pantograph system.
The use of external gear pumps is an effective way to achieve adequate performance at low cost when composing hydraulic systems. The biggest drawback, on the other hand, is the accompanying noise. Gears of continuous contact shape are actively used for the pump recently. The continuous contact shape must be the helical type due to the nature of the gear pump that is driven only by the drive gear. In this paper the theoretical shape of continuous contact gear is analyzed using simple rack shape of straight lines and two circular arcs. Using such geometry, the theoretical equation will be developed by envelope curves according to the conjugate gear shape rules. After checking the validity of the theory by the shape of gear rules, the grinding shape was also developed. The 3D shapes using equation can be also drawn. It was also shown that contact ratio and radius of curvature are easily developed by the theoretical equations.
