  • MyData is a new entity that strengthens the rights of information subjects through the 'right to data portability' and utilizes data to enable hyper-personalized services using personal information. Korea's MyData system is recognized globally as an outstanding system in that it is creating a new MyData industry by granting the right to information self-determination through the 'right to request data transmission'. Now in its third year, this study evaluates Korea's MyData system from a consumer behavior perspective and identifies issues for improvement. To this end, this study reviewed previous research on the relationship between regulatory policy and consumer behavior to determine the applicability of a consumer behavior perspective in institutional evaluation. In addition, in a study on consumer behavior related to MyData, variables that affect the use of MyData were investigated and evaluation items from a consumer behavior perspective were derived. As a result of evaluating Korea's MyData system from a consumer behavior perspective, it was found that the factors considered important by consumers were appropriately reflected in the system. However, in cases where there are dual values of ease of use and personal information protection, regulatory aspects tend to take priority. Therefore, in order to revitalize the MyData industry, it is essential to implement market-friendly system improvements without compromising consumer rights. This study is differentiated from existing studies in that it attempted to derive a plan for system improvement by combining empirical consumer behavior research and regulatory policy research.

  • This is a comparative and analytical study which comprises of the analysis of the rules of the buyer's remedies where the seller delivers defective goods of four legal systems; Directive, CISG, English law and Korean law. In light of threefold main purposes of this study, it firstly attempts to describe and analyze the remedy provisions of Directive in a comparative way in order to provide legal advice to the sellers who plans to enter into English consumer markets. It shows that the two tier remedial system under Directive is not much different from the other jurisdictions, except where the right of rescission under Directive is absolute in a sense that it does not require a certain degree of seriousness of defect. Secondly, the study compares the rules of one jurisdiction with those of other jurisdictions and evaluates the rules in light of the discipline of comparative law the basic question of which is whether a solution from one jurisdiction may facilitate the systematic development and reform of another jurisdiction. It proves the followings; (1) the reluctance and uncertainty in English law of ordering specific performance based on the discretionary power does not reflect the parties' preference because the order is either uncertain or rather negative where the purchase of substitute goods elsewhere is not a satisfactory solution in many cases; (2) the position in Korean law which has no limitation on the right to require substitute goods is likely unfair in commercial sales, but justified in consumer sales; (3) the right of termination or reduction under Directive which is subject to the applicability of the right to require repair or substitute goods seems to be contrary to the consumer's preference where the defective delivery destroys the basis of trust in the quality of the seller's performance; (4) the absolute right of termination under Directive and English law seems crucial in consumer sales because they are often inferior to commercial sellers in terms of information and bargaining power; (5) the right of reduction as a self-help remedy which is absent in English law emphasizes its usefulness. Thirdly, it finds that, where CISG is deemed to fail to unify different rules on the right to require specific performance between Civil and Common law, it is attempted once again in Directive and notwithstanding their hostility to awarding the right to require specific performance in English law, Regulations 2002 expressively stipulates such right.

  • This study was conducted to examine the physicochemical properties and consumer acceptability of commercial Gang-jeong. The samples used in this study were nine different Gang-jeong as commercial products. To accomplish this research, the physicochemical properties of nine samples, including moisture, crude lipid, sugar contents, acid value, color values, and texture, were measured. In addition, consumer panels evaluated the overall acceptability, appearance, flavor, sweetness, and texture of samples using a 9-point Likert type scale as well as the perceived intensities of sweetness and rancid odor by a 9-point Just-About-Right (JAR) scale. All data were statistically analyzed using One-way ANOVA, Principle Component Analysis, Hierarchical Cluster Analysis, and Pearson's Correlation Analysis. All physicochemical properties were significantly different among the samples (p<0.001). Analyses of consumer acceptability and JAR ratings of the nine samples showed significant differences (p<0.001).

  • Service Providers need to monitor the level of consumer's satisfaction on service they provide continuously and they use appropriate method to measure their operating status. They have to make a plan on their resource and infrastructure to provide their service in the right place at the right time whenever they need. Most previous studies on IT service quality are mainly focused on criteria or levels of quality measurement even though those criteria and levels should be set by considering consumer's needs. And considering for consumer's needs with managerial factors was not found on those studies. So, we suggest deducing quality factors for continuous improvement of IT service management system in this paper as identify the relative priority using QFD method which consider consumers' voices and managerial factors when decide quality factors of IT service management system introduced SLA. We also confirm that our suggestion is practicable and applicable for current operation by case study.

  • Recently, game companies are having difficulties in exactly figuring out the right consumer groups for their games. To solve this problem, a system algorithm which recommends user-customized games based on the user information entered has been proposed in this study. Game developers will be able to clearly determine the consumer group(s) of both on and off-line games through accumulated data while consumers can find the game they desire. It is expected that the gaming culture will advance further with the proposed algorithm.

We divided the consumer education of “the Informational Society” into 4 fields of studies(consumer information technique, decision making on purchasing, consumer financial management, and consumerism) and made specific analysis for this research. The “Technology & Home Economics” textbook which follows ‘The 7th curriculum’ conducted by “Korean Educational Board” Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development for first and second grade in middle school were used for this analysis. The results founded are as follows: first, for the curriculum analysis according to the 4 fields of consumer education, both the first and the second grade students' textbook had consumer information technique as the major portion of the consumer education. Second, as a result of the comparison between the two grade levels showed that the second grade level has higher portion of consumer education in “Home economics & Technology” textbook than the first grade level. Third, the present status of consumer education showed that the first grade level's consumer education was only limited in consumer information technique, but the second grade level's consumer education was ranging evenly throughout the 3 fields of consumer education: consumer information technique, decision making on purchasing and consumerism. These results of this study contribute to the development of an efficient and desirable curriculum for the adolescent' consumer education, specially for school consumer education, in “the Informational Society”.
