A study to develop a Body & Mind Integration Program to Enhance the Happiness for Middle-aged Housewives -Focused on Yoga and Tea Meditation- (중년기 주부의 행복감 향상을 위한 심신통합프로그램 개발 연구 - 요가와 차 명상을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a Body & Mind Integration Program that combines yoga and tea meditation, and to prove the fact that it can enhance the happiness for middle-aged housewives. In order to do that, it was devised for a one-group pretest-posttest design and implemented a pretest, a treatment(that was a 12-session program), and a posttest. The results of the 16 middle-aged housewives were used to prove the effect of this program. The main results of this study are as follows: First, physical self-concept(t=-4.609, p<.001), mindful attention awareness(t=-2.804, p<.05) and tea life practices(t=-4.748, p<.001) of the middle-aged housewives have been improved after the implementation of Body & Mind Integration Program. Secondly, the Body & Mind Integration Program has provided the chance for the middle-aged housewives to newly recognize their physical and psychological ability so that they can appreciate their lives more happily and realized their inner strength. In the final analysis, it is the task for all of us to develop and supply the kind of program which helps the middle-aged housewives not only to keep the efforts for their healthy body & mind, but also to get rid of the negative feelings and tensions which happen from personal relationships so that they can find happiness in their lives continuously.

A Study on Cosmetics Purchase Behavior and Consumer Dissatisfaction at Internet Shopping Mall (인터넷 쇼핑몰에서의 화장품 구매행동과 소비자불만에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this research were to investigate the relationship between purchase behavior and consumer dissatisfaction of cosmetics at internet shopping malls, and to examine how the purchase behavior and consumer values influence the consumer dissatisfaction. Subjects were 212 females in Seoul who had experiences of cosmetic shopping at internet shopping malls. Consumers showed highest dissatisfaction when the purchased cosmetics were different from the products showed at internet shopping malls. The dissatisfaction with consuming system was higher than buying system or transporting system. The higher the expense and frequency of cosmetic purchase, the lower the consumer dissatisfaction of buying system. Females of 18 to 24 years old purchased color cosmetics more than females of 25 to 39 years old did. Females of 25 to 39 years old purchased functional skincare products more than females of 18 to 24 years old did. The cosmetic purchase expense of older groups was higher than that of younger one. The more consumers spent time on the internet, the more frequent they bought the cosmetics at internet showing mall. Consumers were most willing to buy basic skincare products at the internet shopping mall (42.9%). The consumer dissatisfaction with cosmetics at internet shopping malls was influenced the most by the happiness value(-) and the next by the responsible value, the frequency of cosmetic purchase at internet shopping malls(-) in order.

A study Addictive Buying on Fashion item in TV Home-Shopping; Focused on Materialism, Show host, Credit card (패션제품 TV 홈쇼핑 중독에 관한 연구: 물질주의, 쇼호스트, 신용카드를 중심으로)

  • The purpose sof this study was to examine consumer's addictive buying through the TV home shopping, focused on materialism, show host and credit card use consumer. Two hundred four female consumers who had purchased fashion items in TV home shopping had participated for this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and multiple regression were used for the study with SPSS 12.0 program. The result were as follows. First, the addictive buying group was 13.2% among respondents while non-addictive buying group was 86.8%. Second, materialism was classified into 3 factors: happiness, success and possessiveness. Show host was classified into 3 factors such as visual presentation, image and communication skill. Credit card was classified into 3 factors: sales promotion, late payment and method payment. Results of multiple regression revealed that happiness and possessiveness from materialism, credit card late payment, and show host communication skill were significantly related to addictive buying. Based on these results, this study would provide fashion marketing strategies for reasonable and reasonable consuming culture, since addictive buying has been not only individual problem but also social problem. A Study of College students's Consumer Behavior of the Midwest(Yunnam) in China(Part II): The Consumer's Traits of Market Segmentation Based on the Apparel Benefits (중국 중서부 지역(운남성) 대학생들의 소비자 행동연구(제 2보): 의복추구혜택에 따른 세분시장의 소비자특성)

  • This study investigates consumer's traits of market segmentation based on the apparel benefits. The subjects were 302 college students living in Yunnam, China. The mean, ANOVA, factor analysis, Duncan test, and K-means cluster analysis were used for statisticals analysis. The results of this study are as follows. The college students were classified, into six subdivisions, according to the apparel benefits by cluster analysis: indifference group, utility pursuit group, hedonic/brand pursuit group, individuality pursuit group, social recognition/fashion pursuit group, and pursuit benefits-minded group. In the factors of happiness-pursuing and life-centered of materialism, significant differences were found according to the groups of apparel benefits, and all factors of symbolic consumption and brand loyalty were found to have significant differences according to the groups of apparel benefits. The evaluation criteria of clothing were significantly different, depending on apparel benefits subdivision in criteria of aesthetic, socio-psychological, and utility. The use of information was shown to have significant differences, according to the groups of apparel benefits. The study results are highly expected to be utilized as useful sources in marketing plans for the midwest of China.

Effects of Intergenerational Support Exchange with their Adult Children on the Happiness of the Middle-aged Parents (성인자녀와의 지원교환이 중년부모의 행복에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to examine the patterns of middle-aged parents' intergenerational support exchange with their adult children and its effects on the happiness of the parents. The sample consisted of 765 middle-aged parents selected from the National Survey of Korean Families by the Ministry of Equality and Family in 2010. The results were as follows. First, intergenerational support exchange between parents and their adult children was categorized into four groups depending on the provider of support: parents who exchanged no support with their children, parents who only received support from their children, parents who only provided support to their children, and parents who exchanged support with their children. Second, parents who exchanged no support with their children were high in instrumental support and those who both provided and received support were high in emotional support. Third, consciousness of their children significantly affected the satisfaction level of their relationship with their children. The more the parents emphasize on the growth of their children, the more they were satisfied. Parents in the support exchange group were more satisfied when they received economic support from their children. With regard to instrumental and emotional support, parents were more satisfied when they provided support to or mutually exchanged support with their children. Forth, subjective health conditions, consciousness of their children, and household's income more significantly affected the happiness of middle-aged parents than the patterns of intergenerational support exchange. With regard to economic support, parents who only received support from their children were less happy than the other groups. With regard to instrumental support, parents who exchanged no support with their children were happier than the other groups. With regard to emotional support, parents who provided support to their children were happier than the other groups.

  • People tend to maintain and express their individuality in unique ways. Consumer's need for uniqueness is defined as an individual's pursuit that differentiates themselves from others, thereby developing and enhancing their personal identities. This study examined the effect of consumers' need for uniqueness on fashion orientation and consumption values. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey distributed to people visiting the fashion show center during Seoul Fashion Week. The survey questions were designed using the 5-point Likert scale and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value of questions was reliable as .628-.862. The study's results indicate that people with high need for uniqueness are very interested in fashion and think that is important to be well-dressed. In addition, the results suggest that people with high needs for unusual choices who enjoy challenging the prevailing taste of people want to be fashion leaders and are attracted to products that express their personality well. And people with high needs for creative choices and incompliant choices value their own satisfaction and happiness with the products. On the other hand, consumer's needs for incompliant choices have a negative effect on social value. As a result, people with high needs for incompliant choices would break social norms rather than consider social status and reputation when they purchase fashion products. The concluding section of the paper discusses the implications of this research for fashion companies.

A Qualitative Study on Multi-child Families' Investment in Human Capital (다자녀 가족의 인적자본 투자에 관한 질적연구)

  • The objective of this study is to identify the significance of haying many children, their motive of childbirth, patterns of investment in human capital, and their expectations of their children. For this purpose, thirteen mothers of multi-child families have been interviewed in depth. Key findings of the study are as follows. First, the significance of children in many-child families varied. The fundamental features were: symbol of strong ties between God and humans, proud existence displayable to others about their level of happiness, and a means of defining their identity. Second, the typical motives of the majority of interviewees to have many children were "unplanned" but "natural accommodation and adaptation." Third, striking aspects, in terms of many-child families' investment in human capital were to consider many-child families to be a community in itself as a great environment of teaming and to have to deal with issues of limits and impartiality when allocating resources of a limited income and parents' time. Fourth, expectations of parents for their children were "normal growth" and mediocrity, and they cited intangible human assets as the greatest gift to their children. This study will hopefully offer a new analytical perspective to the growing concerns of low birth rates and excessive zeal of parents for their children's education, and thereby lay the groundwork of methodological approaches for resolving such social problems.

  • This review was performed to outline the food ethics to the professionals in the field of food science and industries. Food ethics is the ethics or ethical consideration concerning food; while, the keywords of food ethics are a life, happiness and the wisdom. The ultimate goal as well as the first principle of food ethics is a sustainable living of human race. In order to reach the goal a coexistence of humans and nature, coexistence of humans and humans, and the fulfillment of essential requirements of a food are needed. The needs yield six categorical imperatives such as a respect for life, preservation of nature, distributive justice without deception or fakes, prior consideration of consumer, moderation and balance neither overs nor shorts, and the assurance of safety. The core principles corresponding to the categorical imperatives include a respect for life, environmental preservation, justice, priority of consumer, dynamic equilibrium, and the priority of safety. The core principles approach is a simple, clear, and practical method in solving ethical issues. The code of food ethics is also based on the core principles.

The Apparel Purchasing Behavior of Adult Female Group Segmented by Their Materialism

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the apparel purchasing behavior of adult women consumer groups divided by materialism. The specific objects of this study were ; 1) to examine the degree of materialism, impulsive buying, and conspicuous consumption. 2) to examine the correlation between impulsive buying, materialism, and conspicuous consumption, and to examine the relative influences of impulsive buying, materialism affecting conspicuous consumption. 3) to classify groups according to the level of the propensity for materialism, and to examine the clothing purchasing behavior of the divided groups. Data were administered to 357 adult women living in Sunchol from June to July 1999. For analysis of the data, factor analysis, one-way ANOVE, duncan's multiple range test, frequency and χ²-test were employed. The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1. Materialism and impulsive buying have shown higher than middle score, and conspicuous consumption has shown similar to middle score. 2. The correlation between materialism, impulsive buying, and conspicuous consumption has shown similar to middle score. The higher the materialism and experience of impulsive buying was, the higher was the conspicuous consumption. According to the results of regression analysis examining the relative influence of variables affecting conspicuous consumption. Evaluating attributes of product, the type of purchasing store, the place of purchasing, the need of high class department store, purchasing price range, and accompanying people when purchasing were the factors influencing the apparel purchasing behavior.

  • The purpose of this study was to illuminate eroticism represented din modern fashion. Art based on sex is very important like all of the other cultural values. But we feel that erotic art, neglected, suppressed , and persecuted for centuries, has an important contribution to make to the understanding of art, the social history of mankind, and human happiness and progress. It is our deep personal conviction that erotic art serves important social and therapeutic functions. Erotic art expresses the demand for sexual freedom-a freedom vital to individual happiness and mental well-being, And sexual freedom, in turn, cannot exist without a high degree of political and economic freedom as well. In that sense , erotic art came a truly revolutionaly message ; it demands no less than extension of freedom , not only in the sexual are, but in every sphere of social life. As far as erotic subject matter was concerned, Surrealism provided a means of presentig it. Pop Art is not actually a movement , born at a specific time and place, nor is it an easy concept to define. The term first appeared in Great Britain during the fifties, when it referred, particularly in the decorative arts, to an inclination to go back and imitate the stereotyped images of the mass media : film, advertising , cartoons, and other popular consumer products. The eroticism expressed in Pop Art calls the modern's attentions to their devastated minds, taking advantage of the commercialized sex. Fashion has developed constantly reflecting the spiritual aspiration and social and cultural phenomona of man , and artistic steam. Eroticism in fashion is the style which expresses the internal meanings of sexuality through the texture, color, pattern , silhouette etc.
