  • This study investigated the relation between social worker's beliefs on the nature of scientific knowledge which has been classified objectivism and constructivism and social work practice. As an epistemological position, constructivism is based on a view of knowledge that differs from that of objectivism, which holds that knowledge exists "out there" as objective truth. The focus of this paper is a examination on epistemological beliefs of social worker and social work practice. This paper proves that social work's epistemological beliefs have an effect on the practice modes. This research indicates that social works have a higher constructivist veiws than objectivist veiws on the nature of scientific knowledge. And social worker who have a high level of objectivism show a positive determinative mode. It has suggested that the constructive theory offers useful epistemology to the social worker who should deal with the clients in uncertain situations. In conclusion, a social worker with a high level of constructivism use an approach that creats a more equitable relationship between social worker and client. This perspective will allows cliens to participate in the formulation of theories in practice.

  • In this article three types of neuro-biological epistemology have been studied and applied to mathematics. Nativism or innatism is favored by many evolutionary psychologists and some mathematicians. They believe domain specific brain functions or modules, particularly language faculty and number instinct in infants. Number/mathematical cognition is a new research area and scientists try to localize areas related with mathematics. Selectionism has adopted Darwinism to synapse growth and supports neuronal regression. Mathematical creativity can be explained using selectionism. Neural constructivism has originated from J. Piaget and supports neuronal/synapse growth in children or adults if adequate exercise and practise is given. Unlike Piaget, neural constructivists accepts the importance of structured experience for the reorganization of brain. Authors opinion is all these theories of epistemology is equally important and they all give insights on how the brain and self is made.

  • This study is to design and implement Excel 2000 WBI applying the Cognitive Apprentice Model. Excel 2000 is the most used Spread Sheet program and indispensable for increasing teachers' information literacy. The Cognitive Apprentice Model is one of Constructivism learning models. Constructivism is a new educational paradigm and mainly applied in education fields. This WBI is designed and implemented according to the Cognitive Apprentice Model and composed of practical contents according to Constructivism learning principle which insists learning is occurred in real situation. For more effective interaction the teacher(computer) guides the learners individually and uses a bulletin board, E-mail and chatting room.

  • I think constructivism can be considered as the new count proposal for understanding human to Cartesian rationalism. Constructivism has the common area not only with recent results of evolutionary biology, evolutionary psychology. brain science, system theory, and complex adaptive system but also with recent trends of humanities, and social science. In artificial intelligence, the studies which can be considered as constructivistic methods is going on. In this paper, from a constructivistic pint of view, to broaden the concept of intelligence in artificial intelligenve, I will examine constructivistic methodologies to intelligent machine and look about the artificial intelligence techniques which are constructivistic. Throughout such a discussion I want to promote the integral understanding of various kinds of mind theories and techniques, and pave the way of general intelligence in artificial intelligence.

  • This study aims to present a model of mathematics classroom for gifted students by applying the social constructivism. An important function of good materials is promoting students' conjectures and discussions actively, and the model is appropriate to these kinds of materials. This model includes four stages, i. e. forming the subjective knowledge, objectifying, forming the objective knowledge, individual re-forming. And the four stages form a cycle working continuously on more progressive materials. This study presents an example of the classroom for fifteen students of grade 6 on the properties of multiples. Students performed so active investigations, and structured the con-tents learned effectively.

  • This study aimed to develop methods for technical design education that can be intimately connected to the industrial field. For this, technical design jobs performed in the fields of the domestic and foreign fashion industries and their required competences were examined, and educational methods based on constructivism were proposed. Korean fashion technical designers' works were identified, and then the fashion technical designer's responsibilities and qualifications were collected and analyzed from global employment sites. On the basis of the collection and analysis, hands-on staff members and education experts were interviewed about required competences for the actual business and possible suitable methods for education. The results of research showed that in the case of the US, job systems and relevant duties for technical designers were clearly defined by clothing brands, whereas in Korea, businesses were systematized around vendors, not brands, and as a result the businesses of technical package composition and specification proposals were not performed properly. This study organized the contents of technical design education into fit development and specification, the composition of technical design packages, the evaluation and approval of samples, fit schedule management and fitting, block pattern setting and pattern correction, sewing specifications appropriate for styles and materials, grading, technical terms, and production management. As for the technical design education models, the cognitive apprenticeship model, resource-based learning, the problem-based and anchored model, and the problem-based and resource-based models were proposed.

  • A critique on Freud's remembering taken place in the 80's and 90s has a significant impact on a paradigm shift: from the discursive constructivism to the neo-empiricism. Along with Marx and Nietzsche, Freud was one of the main intellectual sources in formulating the Cultural Studies, known as the political corrections in the later period of Post-modern era. In the wake of feminism, there was a social happening, namely, a memory restoration, when a woman therapist helped a woman patient to restore the past and come up with her father as the cause of her trauma. Finally, 'the false memory syndrome' brought up a hot issue firing on the controversy about Freudian remembering. Freud as a clinical therapist began to be a sole target to be criticized. Strangely enough, however, Freud was continually utilized by such theorists as Julia Kristeva, Homi Bhabah, and Žižek, while having dissenters like Deleuze, Quattari, and Butler. Of those intellectual claims, this paper focuses on the debates by the dissenters not from the discursive theorists but from the clinical studies: Sulloway, Grunbaum, and Crews. My argument directs to the empirical side of Freud for the conclusion that the dispute on him was a seed of a paradigm shift towards the neo-empiricism, after one century's flourishing of constructivism.

  • It is clear that students attending at technical high schools, which are commonly believed to have low mathematical learning standard, are able to improve their mathematical learning abilities through concrete operational activities. One thing that teachers should remember is that the subject in learning is the student not the teacher any more, so that teachers are able to become assistants by letting students study independently rather than passively.
