  • A square steel sandwich plate with lattice corrugated core is explored for damping improvement. A range of damping materials are filled inside the openings provided by the corrugated core, or are applied on the surfaces of the facesheets. The dynamic properties such as natural frequency and damping factor are experimentally measured for the sandwich plate with each filling solution. The relative performance of each insertion is compared in terms of damping capacity and added mass.

  • Concrete can be defective for several reasons, including inadequate design, material selection or workmanship. Concrete and also dsteriorate or be damaged in use. Consequently existing reinforced concrete may not be functioning as originally intended and designed. So, the evaluate process to investigate initial crack is very important. It is the aim of this study to development and application for diagnosis method on the crack broker out of new constructions.

  • The role of geophysics in Environmental Earth Sciences and Engineering is considered. In the developing era since 60's in Japan, geophysics has mainly contributed to investigation of new constructions such as tunnels, dams and high-rise buildings. In the coming sustainable era, geophysics must be used for maintaining the safe and easy human life. Application examples of geophysics to investigations for disaster prevention, maintenance of existing constructions and soil and groundwater pollutions are presented to demonstrate their role in Environmental Geo-engineering. Future subjects in this field for geophysics and geophysicists are also discussed.

  • Every language employs its own morphological and syntactic ways of expressing gradable concepts and making comparison between properties of two objects. Korean uses the adverb te 'more' and the post-position pota 'than' to express such relations objects, but displays quite different grammatical properties from a language like English. This paper shows how a constraint-based grammar, HPSG, can provide a robust basis for the grammatical analysis of Korean comparative constructions.

  • Electrolytic recovery of gold and silver from diluted solutions has at first been applied nearly 100 years ago. Compared with other recovery techniques electrolytic treatment offers several advantages. But to achieve high space-time yields special constructions of electrolytic cells for improved mass transfer are necessary. Ex-tended cathode surface areas and vigorous agitation are important features. Gold and silver recovery by use of newly developed electrolytic cell constructions - rotating tubular bed reactor and impact rod reactor - has been described. Calculations based on industrial application during several years are confirming that electrolytic recovery of precious metalss from diluted solutions has been operated in a very economic way.

  • The ground movements during three. full-scale trial diaphragm wall (DW) panel constructions were monitored and analysed. The DW panels were constructed in reclaimed fill where sedimentary marine deposit and residual weathered soils are being consolidated. The monitoring data showed exceptionally large lateral ground movements of up to 293 mm near a trench due to the DW panel constructions, which is about 0.8$\%$ D, where D is the maximum excavation depth. It was observed that deliberate holding period of the trench resulted in a significant increase in the lateral ground movements of about 50-225$\%$. A pre-treatment of the marine deposit by installing a single line of jet grout columns around the trench prior to the excavation was found to be a very effective way of reducing the ground movements. The measured ground settlements were compared with some relevant case histories. DW panel constructions in sedimentary marine deposit are likely to cause maximum ground surface settlement up to 0.225$\%$ D.

  • Presently many constructions establish in underwater, but approaching to underwater constructions are difficult, for comparing with ground, underwater environment is different in media. Usually measurement methods for underwater constructions are using tapes, using depth gauges, using acoustic positioning systems. But, tapes are hard to measure the correct distance, for applying a right tension is not easy in underwater. Depth gauges have a weakness in settling, for it takes long time to do it. Acoustic positioning systems don't work well in confined spaces and cost a lot. Hence, the purpose of this study is, at first, to understand rays path in multimedia like water, glass and air. The second thing is to perform a camera calibration at the field to compare with the interior orientation parameter. And the third thing is to find out whether photogrammetry is applied for underwater object in using cube for accuracy examination. The last thing is to perform underwater photogrammetry about underwater object, which is pier model and riverbed. We came to the conclusion through this experiment that the applying underwater photogrammerty for underwater constructions and underwater ground is possible.

  • Composites with various layer constructions involving the ratio of S/P were produced from wood strands(S) and particles(P) (Cryptomeria japonica D.Don) to measure various Young's moduli and anisotropy by ultrasonics. As a result, static Young's moduli of composites were almost same as dynamic Young's moduli obtained from natural frequency. However, these were smaller than those evaluated from ultrasonic wave propagation velocity. The differences between propagation velocity of the parallel(${\parallel}$) and perpendicular(${\bot}$) in-plane direction resulted in a tendency of anisotropy. The tendency of anisotropy was larger in three-layer constructions than in seven-layer constructions. The differences of strand surface layers showed larger values than those of particle surface layers. Also, composites with higher weight ratio of strand had a tendency to propagate rapidly in each direction. In contrast to these results, the propagation velocity in the thickness direction had a tendency to propagate rapidly in composites with particle surface layers and the lower weight ratio of strand.

  • This paper aims to research the language changes in modern Korean and its effect to the language processing systems. In modern Korean. the syntactic constructions l like [Adnominal Ending + Bound Noun ( + Postposition)] are changing into the morphological constructions, and some of these constructions are reflected in the written language. For example. the syntactic construction [Ad nominal Ending + '-de (Bound N Noun)' (+ Postposition) ) co-exists with the mixed form '-neunde' and [Adnominal Ending + 'geot' (Bound Noun) + '-j' (Postposition)) does with ' neunge'. These constructions are used frequently in the spoken language. As like other verbal endings, these forms also participate in the construction of the complex sentence, and these forms have its own case function fused into themselves So, the analytic approach to these forms can make great effect on the automatic morphological analysis systems. automatic tagging systems. and the syntactic analysis systems. So. in the design phase of a language processing systems, the language change phenomena like these must be taken l into consideration.
