A Study on the Planning Elements for Eco-friendly Outdoor Playground (친환경 실외 놀이터 계획 요소에 관한 연구)

  • Since Seoul city supplied 'Sangsang Children's Playground', domestic playgrounds are changing from formal facilities to creative play and learning space recently. From eco-friendly safe playground model development project, eco-friendly playground planning and its actual cases have been occasionally introduced. However, we could not know how well most playgrounds reflect eco-friendly features and whether they are eco-friendly or not because the definition about the concept of eco-friendly playground is inadequate and there are not the specific planning guidelines and evaluation standards for making the eco-friendly playground. Therefore, the development of guidelines for the construction of eco-friendly playground is required and evaluation guidelines for them should be made for the active dissemination of the actual eco-friendly playground and the proper construction of the eco-friendly playground. In this study, we defined the concept of eco-friendly outdoor playground and presented the types and characteristics of the playground based on the concept and suggested basic plan guidelines based on the existing requirements for becoming eco-friendly playground. For this purpose, we checked the plan's common points in the existing playground configuration requirements, installation standards, regulations, and safety standards, and offered the planning elements and guidelines through the analysis of outdoor space evaluation standard in eco-friendly safe playground guidelines and eco-friendly building certification system.

  • The indoor air quality of new apartment buildings, which is known to cause sick housing syndrome, has become a major concern among apartment residents as well as construction companies in Korea. In this study, the effects of environmentally friendly materials and ventilation system are evaluated to compare the strategies applied to improve indoor air quality at the pre-occupancy stage. Six residential units are tested under three conditions : one unit is consisted of environmentally friendly materials and ventilation system, another unit is consisted of environmentally friendly materials and non-ventilation system, and the other four units are consisted of common materials and non-ventilation system.

  • The use of road cutters in the maintenance of obsolete underground facilities maintains polluting dust, cutting sludge, etc, polluting the air environment, soil, and water, causing civil complaints caused by noise, and consequently interrupting work. Therefore, it is time for eco-friendly pavement cutting technology for fugitive dust and cutting sludge emission management and noise management. This study was based on research by the development of eco-friendly pavement cutting technology in urban areas. In this study, the current state of existing road cutters is investigated and the patented technology analysis of road cutters is conducted to derive the design elements of eco-friendly pavement cutting technology.

  • Euro forms and aluminum forms, which are currently used in formwork construction sites are limited by their heavy weight and the use of environmentally hazardous form oils. Therefore, in this study, 'eco-friendly light weight form' was developed, which does not require form oils during the removal process of form. In addition, the superiority of the developed form was verified by comparison with Euro forms and aluminum forms in terms of noise generation and weight. Application of the eco-friendly light weight form in construction sites is expected to reduce the noise level, and increase workers' convenience. The productivity of formwork is also increased.

  • Eco-friendly concrete contains only 5% of cement yet achieves equal or greater strength compared to conventional concrete, reducing salt-attack impact and hydration heat by more than 30% and ensuring higher construction quality for underground structures. Furthermore, eco-friendly concrete can reduce up to 90% of carbon dioxide emissions compared to traditional concrete, enabling a reduction of approximately 6,000 tons of carbon emissions for 1,000 of apartment units construction. This is equivalent to planting around 42,000 trees

  • "Eco-friendly construction" is an emerging issue in the building industry. Main purpose of the eco-friendly construction is to sustain the health and environment of building residents and to minimize the harmful effect on their environment. Apartment residents have great concern on eco-product, since many cases are reported that Sick Building Syndrome is caused by toxic substance from building materials. Environmental performance is to meet through using the highest grade eco-friendly materials. However, generally eco-friendly materials are more expensive than normal materials, Therefore, using eco-friendly materials at public housing project is limited to economical aspect. The purpose of this paper is development of eco-friendly material selection model considered cost efficiency. The selection of Eco-friendly finishing materials and their methods are constructed to consider environmental performance level and cost index compositively. Development of eco-friendly material selection method is economic and reasonable one when public housing is constructed.

  • Construction project is necessary element for human life to upgrade the quality and convenience. However, due to its contradictory nature to the environment conservation, environmental pollution and damage, deterioration of natural scenery, noise/vibration, water quality pollution, etc. caused in the process of construction greatly affect the environment. The purpose of this study is to propose checklist for environment management can be used in construction phase. For this, we went ahead with the research by studying the existing research related to environment-friendly construction project management both at home and abroad, investigation and analysis of environment-related laws and ordinances, and drawing the checklists for natural environment and living environment at the construction phase. As a result, we were able to compile a checklist for nine items including geological features, animals and plants, use of soil, quality of air, water, and soil, construction wastes, noise, vibration, recreation, and sceneries. The checklist is structured in 4 grades and coded so as to allow it to be developed with the use of computer system in future. We hope that the checklist presented in this study will help lead the managers at the construction phase in construction development sustainable from the perspective of environmental conservation.

  • Due to the increase of aged housing demolition in preparation for the rapid growth of the market, Eco-friendly remodeling demolition work which can minimize environmental destruction have been studied. However, the owner or contractor to apply for eco-friendly remodeling demolition work does not reflect the characteristics of the site can not have a potential for many variables. In addition, There is no standard which can find effective part and catch a problem by performing eco-friendly remodeling demolition. Therefore, the project owner and construction company executives in the Pre-construction stage to the implementation of eco-friendly remodeling demolition construction by providing a model for the pre-evaluating the project. In this paper, the performance of eco-friendly remodeling of demolitions is proposed for the pre-evaluating model. After the eight items were drawn affecting the performances which are influence to accomplishment of the eco-friendly remodeling demolition, evaluation criteria was suggested for each item. Also By classifying and assessing the evaluation items, It will be able to identify the problems and supplements for eco-friendly remodeling demolition. Through the final evaluation sheet, The works of the appropriacy and supplement will be checked for the eco-friendly remodeling demolition. Finally The preinvestigation model is helpful for making the plan of systematic demolition, futhermore It is contribute to the expansion of the eco-friendly remodeling demolition.

A Study of Models for Marketing Strategy in the Eco-friendly Apartment Housing Using Discriminant Analysis (판별분석을 이용한 친환경 아파트의 마케팅 전략에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects of the eco-friendly factors on the apartment housing price rise and to suggest the desirable way of marketing strategy for apartment housing. For the analysis, the data of apartment sites in Seoul had been collected from September 2006 to February 2007. The data consisted of 95 apartment sites in Seoul. Data were analyzed with descriptives, crosstabs, and discriminant analysis by SPSS/PC for Window. Following result was obtained. The eco-friendly apartment housing price rate in Seoul was determined by eco-friendly landscape, green space rate, house unit size, installment sale price per pyeong, floor space index, distance from subway station when it was not considered the impact of building age, construction company's brand, and autonomous districts. Findings of this research can provide valuable information for marketing strategy of housing construction company.
