Survey of Korean CM Contracts for Current Status and Future Direction: Based on 1997 to 2013 Statistics

  • As domestic construction investment has been gradually reduced, expanding overseas construction is one of the most important issues for Korean construction companies. Among these issues, strategies for overseas CM services have widely been discussed, because the CM services have features of high growth potential and value-added area when compared with other construction sectors. Therefore, recent efforts focus on further development in advanced CM capabilities and expansion to overseas market. However, there has been lack of quantitative research to investigate current status and future direction of CM industry. In this sense, this research investigated what CM has achieved for the past 17years (between 1997 and 2013) and what CM should accomplish for future strategies. The purpose of this research is to statistically analyze total of 2,983 CM service contracts over the past 17 years published in KISCON (Knowledge Information System of Construction Industry) in order to examine current status of CM industry in terms of market type, contract size, commodity type, and owner's type. Based on this research, it is expected to suggest for future strategies and development directions from the CM industry perspective that could provide quantitative analyses, improve current CM statistics systems and strengthen the competitiveness in international CM market.

  • The technical expert standing system of our construction industry is operated by the Ministry of Labor subjective national technical qualification law, as the professional engineer, architect and architect-engineer and so on. The construction management(CM) which is introduced on middle 1990 activates a building industry the condition of the essential indispensability for is becoming, is not officially recognized with is judged as the nostril people for qualification of the civil CM educational institutions ha the certification which is a each educational program and a separate way and it is the actual condition which is become accomplished, In this research, it observes the capital increase reserve problem point which is a domestic CM and the certification integration which is a report and system anger it leads and with national certified qualification it develops to present the improvement program for, it does to sleep.

  • 국내 건설산업이 새로운 도약을 이루기 위해서는 해외 시장에서의 경쟁력 확보와 새로운 시장의 창출이 필요하다. 국제적인 기술경쟁력을 가진 건설 분야와 IT 분야의 융합기술 개발을 통한 국제 경쟁력 확보와 새로운 시장창출은 성공가능성이 매우 높게 평가된다. 그렇지만, 구체적인 실현에 있어서 기술적 장벽뿐만 아니라, 융합개발의 명확한 모델이 정립되어 있지 않기 때문에, 건설 산업 관점에서 융합기술의 가능영역과 적절한 개발모델의 제시가 요구되고 있다. 건설 분야의 IT 융합기술은 생산성 향상과 노동력 절감 및 유지관리 구조물의 생애주기 비용절감을 통한 경쟁력 강화 분야와 u-city와 같은 수요창출형 신상품의 개발로 구분될 수 있다. 특히, IT 융합기술 개발 단계에서 건설사 관점에서 철저한 수요중심의 접근과 빠른 IT 기술발전에 대응하는 전략이 요구되며, 융합개발의 주도그룹을 선두로 선순환적인 순환모델을 적용하는 전략이 효과적일 것이다.

  • 2010년 이후 약 890만호에 이르는 잠재적 해체대상 노후건물을 보유할 것으로 추정되고 있다. 이에 따라 현재 약 1.5조원 규모의 국내 해체시장은 10년 후에는 5.8조원, 그리고 20년 후에는 11.8조원까지 급속하게 성장 할 것으로 추정되고 있다. 그러나 국내에서는 해체산업을 위한 법 등을 위한 준비가 선진외국에 비해 매우 미비한 실정이며, 이와 관련된 연구결과 또한 매우 부족하다. 본 논문에서는 해외해체산업의 동향을 분석하고 국내해체시장의 동향 및 예측을 실시하였다. 해체산업은 건설산업과 25년이상의 격차를 보이는 후행산업이다. 이러한 경향을 정확히 분석함으로서 건설폐기물 관리를 위한 기준을 마련할 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 분석을 통해 향후 해체산업이 건설업종으로 발전하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다.

  • It is considered that the construction industry is one of the pivotal players in the national economy in terms of Gross Domestic Production (GDP) and employment. Behind the positive role of this industrial sector to the national economy, the construction industry generates approximately 50 % of the total waste generation from all the industrial sectors. There are several measures to mitigate the adverse impacts of the construction waste such as reduce, reuse and recycle. Recycling would be one of the effective strategies for waste minimisation, which would be able to reduce the demand upon new resources as well as enhance reusing the construction materials on sites. The automated construction waste classification system would make it possible not only to reduce the amount of labour input but also mitigate the possibility of errors during the manual classification process. In this study, we proposed an automated waste segmentation and classification system for recycling the construction and demolition waste in the real construction site context. Since the practical application to the real-world construction sites was one of the significant factors to develop the system, a YOLACT (You Only Look At CoefficienTs) algorithm was chosen to conduct the study. In this study, it is expected that the proposed system would make it possible to enhance the productivity as well as the cost efficiency by reducing the manpower for the construction and demolition waste management at the construction site.

  • 건설현장은 타제조업에 비해 아직도 노동집약적인 특성을 벗어나지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이런 특성으로 인하여 건설산업은 3D업종으로 인식되고 있다. 최근 들어 이에 대한 해결책으로 건설 현장에서의 로봇의 활용 방안에 대한 연구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 건설현장에서의 로봇활용 기술이 전 세계에서 가장 앞서있는 일본의 연구결과를 개선하고 한국형 건설환경에 적합한 경제성이 있는 새로운 고층건물 구조체 자동화 시골기술을 개발하고자 한다.

Research and Development of Korea B(Benefit)-impact Model for Sustainable Development - in Case of Construction Sector -

  • The purpose of this study is to research and development of 'Korea B(Benefit)-impact Model' for Sustainable Development. A concept evaluation model is 'B(Benefit)-impact model' in U.S.A. We use the results of surveys that examined the importance of social value issues to stakeholders in Korea to implement the benefit-impact model in Korea. In particular, in this paper, we use the KSI(Korean Sustainability Index) survey data conducted by the Korea Standards Association to evaluate the social value of the construction industry for representative stakeholders in the construction industry. The social value pool and the activity indicator pool used for the survey are created based on relevant International Standards; ISO 26000, ISO 14001, ISO 37001. As a result, Korea B-impact model for construction industry included the following five core social value issues; Strengthen transparency of corporate management, Ensure fair employment and employment relations, Efforts to prevent corruption, Conduct fair competition, Efforts to prevent environmental pollution. In addition, the US B-impact model has three limitations. First, it is unclear whether the key indicators have been derived while considering all issues of social value. Second, US B-impact model indicators are developed by the social responsibility experts, so it is necessary to review by stakeholders in each industry. Finally, it would be more effective for companies to use the B-impact model index as a more detailed activity indicator. When developing a Korea B-impact model, the following methods are used to supplement it. First, we reviewed all social value issues using international standards. Secondly, we used the KSI(Korean Sustainability index) survey results to derive the importance of the social value issue of construction industry in Korea. Finally, we have clearly matched the activity indicators by social value core issues based on the GRI Standard so that companies can actually use the Korea B-impact model for the construction sector. The detailed development stages and results of this study are as follows;.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF BIM ADOPTION IN KOREAN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY AND OTHER COUNTRIES

  • Construction companies in Korea have shown interest in BIM (Building Information Modeling) even if late, adopted it, and applied it to several projects. But, it is hard to figure out the status of BIM implementation. Thus, this study is to figure out the status of BIM implementation in Korea by surveying major construction companies in Korea and comparing with similar surveys abroad. The survey result shows that only 11 companies in Korean construction industry adopted BIM. The clash check (73%) was mostly used among various BIM functions and other functions were used less than 30%. As of 2008, only 8 construction companies have used BIM in 27 projects and thus, Korean companies are in the BIM introduction period. Therefore, successful introduction of BIM is required by benchmarking the BIM introduction process of overseas construction industries

  • Since its introduction in mid 1990s, Financial Crisis in Korea, knowledge management (KM) has been considered as a new, optimal way of corporate management style. And a large number of researches, either theoretically or empirically, were carried out in order to find out what the key success factors will be in common. However, though key success factors are extracted, it can hardly be a successful project if those are not well matched for the unique industry characteristics, still more in construction industry. Even we can find some KM precedents in construction industry, it can hardly be revealed how far they exerted themselves in order to match key factors with industry characteristics. Hence, at the dawn of implementing KM, this research work will scrutinize key success factors (KSFs) derived from previous studies and funnel those KSFs into construction domain. Then rearranged KSFs will be proposed with each key issues. Therefore, this article can contribute to setting strategies for KM in construction sector.

부산지역 소규모 건설현장 근로자의 고령화 실태조사 및 개선방안 (Analysis of worker's Ageing in Small-size Construction Sites in Busan)

  • Due to the aging of economically active population in the world, the average age of workers in the domestic construction industry is also steadily increasing. This study analyzes the aging of construction workers in small-size construction sites in Busan, where the aging of the economically active population is the most severe in Korea. As a result of the study on the aging of construction workers in six construction sites with a construction cost of less than 500 million won in Busan, it was found that 65% of the workers were over 50 years of age. In addition, several experts interviews and survey revealed that 'securing welfare facilities for construction workers' and 'diminishing prejudice about the construction industry" were the most urgent and effective methods to overcome the aging problems. The results of this study can be served as basic data to solve the aging problems in the industry.
