  • Objective: To evaluate the construction reproducibility of a composite tooth model (CTM) composed of an intraoral-scanned crown and a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)-scanned root. Methods: The study assessed 240 teeth (30 central incisors, 30 canines, 30 second premolars, and 30 first molars in the maxillary and mandibular arches) from 15 young adult patients whose pre-treatment intraoral scan and CBCT were available. Examiner-Reference (3 years' experience in CTM construction) and Examiners-A and Examiner-B (no experience) constructed the individual CTMs independently by performing the following steps: image acquisition and processing into a three-dimensional model, integration of intraoral-scanned crowns and CBCT-scanned teeth, and replacement of the CBCT-scanned crown with the intraoral-scanned crown. The tooth axis angle in terms of mesiodistal angulation and buccolingual inclination of the CTMs constructed by the three examiners were measured. To assess the construction reproducibility of CTMs, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) assessments were performed. Results: The ICC values of mesiodistal angulation and buccolingual inclination among the 3 examiners showed excellent agreement (0.950-0.992 and 0.965-0.993; 0.976-0.994 and 0.973-0.995 in the maxillary and mandibular arches, respectively). Conclusions: The CTM showed excellent construction reproducibility in mesiodistal angulation and buccolingual inclination regardless of the construction skill and experience levels of the examiners.

  • From 1990's, a study on the development of exothermic concrete, a concrete which electro-conductive material is mixed, has been proceeded. However, due to the difficulty of exothermic reproducibility of concrete specimen, the study has been unable to continuously carried out. Accordingly, this study was focused on developing an exothermic concrete for the purpose of snow-melting material. Cement paste and mortar specimens mixed with graphite, conductive metal powder and chemical admixture were made. The evaluation of exothermic performance and reproducibility was conducted under $-2^{\circ}C$ of low temperature. In addition, micro-chemical analysis was carried out to investigate a cause of exothermic reproducibility. As a test result, the specimen mixed with graphite and superplasticizer with air entrained showed the best exothermic performance and reproducibility. Through micro-chemical analysis, it is judged that polymer or methacrylic acid (MAA), the contents inside the superplasticizer with air entrained, gave exothermic reproducibility by generating the electrochemical reaction with graphite.

  • For the substantiation and verification of studies related to the construction of a levee using riverbed soil, real-scale levee construction and experimental studies are essential. One of the most important factors in the experimental study is the reproducibility of the multiple levees with the same initial conditions. Quantitative analysis of the reproducibility should be presented. In this study, a number of physical properties (specific gravity test, sieving test, liquid-plastic limit test, compaction test, on-site Density test) for multiple embankments built with fine-grained bed soil was obtained. The collected data then used to obtain the possibility of reproducing levee through statistical analysis to suggest a process of indicating a numeric initial condition of the real-scale test. As a result of statistical analysis to verify the aforementioned process, it was confirmed that it was possible to quantitatively evaluate the reproducibility of the construction under the same conditions of embankments. This is expected to be a basic data for a full-scale embankment test using riverbed soil including other soil based real-scale tests.

  • The objective of this study is to examine the reproducibility for compressive strength development and mechanical properties of lightweight concrete made using bottom ash aggregates and foam(LWC-BF). Based on the mix proportions conducted by Ji et al., six identical mixes were prepared with different actual foam volume ratios from 0% to 25% and water-to-binder ratios from 25% to 30%. The presently measured properties, including initial slump, slurry density, compressive strength gains at different ages, splitting tensile strength, and modulus of rupture, were very close to those determined in the previous tests by Ji et al. Thus, the developed LWC-BF has a good potential in obtaining a reproducibility for compressive strength development and mechanical properties even though the troubles of mixing control owing to the addition of preformed foam.

  • In this study, a revised oil leakage evaluation method for assessing oil leakage stability of asphalt mastics used in upper slabs of below-grade residential parking lots was developed and presented. In order to verify the reliability and reproducibility of leakage results, the parameters the revised evaluation was carried out for three products with actual leakage history, and it was confirmed the leaks could be reproduced whereas the existing methods could not. To quantitatively verify the reproducibility, the filler content of the leaked samples was derived and the maximum filler content was 64% lower than that of the normal sample. The same results was found with the samples from the actual leakage site, thus verifying the reliability of the revised evaluation method.

  • In this study, the applicability and reproducibility of LIBS in the analysis of chloride penetration in the mortar section were investigated. Standard analysis (IC, potentiometric titration) and LIBS analysis were simultaneously performed on the accelerated and immersed mortar by chloride concentration. Through LIBS analysis after making an eluate at the same depth for each concentration, the signal intensity of chloride ions was confirmed according to the depth and concentration at the wavelength of 837.59 nm, and a correlation between the LIBS signal intensity and the chloride concentration was confirmed. Although it is an aqueous solution-based LIBS analysis, the applicability and reproducibility of LIBS were confirmed not only for the incorporation of chloride but also for the amount of permeated chloride.

  • Nakdong River was recently dredged with multi-functional weirs construction. Therefore, the depth was deepened and the lag time also increased. As a result, stratification occurred in some sections with deep water depth, and it also caused the increase of algal bloom phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to evaluate reproducibility of stratification in the Nakdong River by applying the EFDC model, which is a three-dimensional hydraulic and water quality analysis model proving the reproducibility of stratification phenomena in reservoirs and estuaries. In order to reproduce the Nakdong river water temperature and DO stratification, EFDC model was constructed in the downstream part of the Nakdong river and sensitivity analysis was performed on key parameters sensitive to stratification. Sensitivity analysis was used to reproduce stratification by selecting optimal parameters. The results of this study can be used as basic data for the analysis of various destratification scenarios.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate hydrologic impacts of climate change according to downscaling methods using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model at watershed scale. We used the APCC Integrated Modeling Solution (AIMS) for assessing various General Circulation Models (GCMs) and downscaling methods. AIMS provides three downscaling methods: 1) BCSA (Bias-Correction & Stochastic Analogue), 2) Simple Quantile Mapping (SQM), 3) SDQDM (Spatial Disaggregation and Quantile Delta Mapping). To assess future hydrologic responses of climate change, we adopted three GCMs: CESM1-BGC for flood, MIROC-ESM for drought, and HadGEM2-AO for Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) national standard scenario. Combined nine climate change scenarios were assessed by Expert Team on Climate Change Detection and Indices (ETCCDI). SWAT model was established at the Mankyung watershed and the applicability assessment was completed by performing calibration and validation from 2008 to 2017. Historical reproducibility results from BCSA, SQM, SDQDM of three GCMs show different patterns on annual precipitation, maximum temperature, and four selected ETCCDI. BCSA and SQM showed high historical reproducibility compared with the observed data, however SDQDM was underestimated, possibly due to the uncertainty of future climate data. Future hydrologic responses presented greater variability in SQM and relatively less variability in BCSA and SDQDM. This study implies that reasonable selection of GCMs and downscaling methods considering research objective is important and necessary to minimize uncertainty of climate change scenarios.
