  • Purpose How can be a great doctor with excellence and ethics? In this study, I wanted to find out the characteristics of human environment to make a great doctor. Methods: First, I researched factors and construct of the human environment. So I conceived a model for analyzing human environment with two construction model : Howard Gardner's System Model and Bron-fenbrenner's ecological systems model. Second, I analyzed the life of the Oliver R. Evison M.D. and Ki Ryu Jang M.D. Oliver R. Evison was the pioneer of medicine of Korea and establisher of the Severance Hospital and medical college. Dr KiRyu Jang, who was called 'Schweitzer of Korea', was a good doctor of the poor and weak patients in Korea. Third, I tried to find out a new human environment model to make a great doctor. Results One model for analyzing human environment was made of relationship based on emotion. relationship teaching knowledge and skill, and relationship communicating on value. In the light of analyzing of two great doctors. Oliver R. Evison M.D. and KiRyu Jang M.D, I found out special interrelationship, Hardie, Allen, Severance for Evison, Kyosin Kim, Kyucheol Choi etc. for Ki Ryu Jang These special people were religious actors or social thinkers. Conclusions: To be a great doctor to excel and innovate medical field, medical students should have the chance to meet with people based on religious, ethical and social action, discuss on value across social fields, and can construct the idea to make and realize higher value of medical action. In sum, another important human environment for medical students would be a person who could be communicate with true value.

  • In a previous paper, ambient vibration tests were conducted on a cable stayed bridge with resilient-friction base isolation systems (R-FBI) to extract the dynamic characteristics of the bridge and compare the results with a seismic analysis model. In this paper, a nonlinear seismic analysis model was established for analysis of the bridge to compare the difference in seismic responses between nonlinear time history analysis and multi-mode spectral analysis methods in the seismic design phase of cable supported bridges. Through these studies, it was confirmed that the seismic design procedures of the "Korean Highway Bridge Design Code (Limit State Design) for Cable Supported Bridges" is not suitable for cable supported bridges installed with R-FBI. Therefore, to reflect the actual dynamic characteristics of the R-FBI installed on cable-supported bridges, an improved seismic design procedure is proposed that applies the seismic analysis method differently depending on the seismic isolation effect of the R-FBI for each seismic performance level.

  • In construction, schedule management is the basic but important step, for the effective schedule management, the preparation of the reasonable schedule table should be prioritized. In the design stage, the optimal construction period can be selected through comparison of various conditions and construction methods considering weather conditions and site characteristics. But, At the planning phase, it is difficult to select the effective method and calculate the proper construction period by the basic data(D/B) analysis. In this paper, the construction method considering characteristics of each type and conditions of existing city was selected. For the reasonable duration calculation, we analyzed the unit schedule for RC method for open type and Shield TBM method for tunnel type. The normal project duration of construction assuming of 1,200m of extension and every 200m of ventilation was prepared by integrating each unit schedule. It was analyzed that it took 893 days for the open type and 616 days for the tunnel type. The results of this study will help to make type selection and normal project duration more easily in the planning phase. If it is linked to the design stage, it will be easy to estimate the process and construction cost.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide an experimental and analytical study on the reinforced large diameter pretensioned high strength concrete (R-LDPHC) pile. R-LDPHC pile was reinforced with infilled concrete, longitudinal, and transverse rebar to increase the flexural and shear strength of conventional large diameter PHC (LDPHC) pile without changing dimension of the pile. To evaluate the shear and flexural strength enhancement effects of R-LDPHC piles compared with conventional LDPHC pile, a two-point loading tests were conducted under simple supported conditions. Nonlinear analysis on the basis of the conventional layered sectional approach was also performed to evaluate effects of infilled concrete and longitudinal rebar on the flexural strength of conventional LDPHC pile. Moreover, ultimate strength design method was adopted to estimate the effect of transverse rebar and infilled concrete on the shear strength of a pile. The analytical results were compared with the results of the bending and shear test. Test results showed that the flexural strength and shear strength of R-LDPHC pile were increased by 2.3 times and 3.3 times compared to those of the conventional LDPHC pile, respectively. From the analytical study, it was found that the flexural strength and shear strength of R-LDPHC pile can be predicted by the analytical method by considering rebar and infilled concrete effects, and the average difference of flexural strength between experimental results and calculated result was 10.5% at the ultimate state.

  • Data Security is the most challenging area in Internet communication, where most of the secret sharing schemes are proposed for binary images. But still it lacks in providing security for data communication, especially in image transmission. Traditional visual cryptography scheme generate meaningless diwies and the reconstruction phase leads to quality degradation over the secret image. In this work, an intelligent two dimensional secret share construction scheme is proposed. A secret image is expanded into n diwies with the choice of scheme selection. By Stacking all the qualified diwies to revert the secret image without content loss and less than s* - 1 shares could not reveal any information about the secret image. The experimental results emphasize that the proposed secret share scheme is highly secured for image transmission.

  • Construction supply chain management (CSCM) has become one of the critical factors that determine the success of a construction project as it becomes increasingly complicated and mega-sized. Particularly for high-rise or mega-sized building construction, just-in-time supply chain management is required due to lack of storage space and effective logistics for construction components and materials at a construction site. Despite the fact that research and development of radio frequency identification (RFID) and wireless sensor network (WSN) technology have been performed, construction project managers still need to carry mobile devices and check material and component flow at each stage of the supply chain process. This research proposes that the equipment used in the construction supply chain process, such as movers, trailers, gates, and hoists, can become main actors in the supply chain process using RFID and WSN technologies. And the proposed equipment and process focused on a solution to the redundancy identification problem, which has been observed in operations that use RFID/WSN-based processes for construction logistics. This paper also presents issues identified through verification and validation of the research results and proposes further studies.

  • This study aims to develop a performance evaluation system for the Construction Factory(CF). The CF is a kind of full automation system for building construction which consists of the lifting system for building materials, the built-up unit for steel structural components, the bolting robots, the control center for the site management, and the site covering system. The CF is developing now as a project of the construction automation and robotics. In this study we firstly reviewed the state-of-the-art of the construction automation and robotics in the foreign and the domestic, and investigated the precedent case of the CF such as the SMART System of Shimizu Co., Japan. We believe that without an objective evaluation of the results there won't be growth in technological R&D. Therefore, this study sees the developing CF as an new technology and method in building construction, and proposes the direction and frame of the appropriate evaluation which can be applied into the CF.

  • Ground anchors are mostly used to improve the resistance capacity of retaining walls. The end of the anchor is connected to retaining wall through tendons and the forces in tendons are transferred to ground. In this study, we plan that the new anchor system increases the tension force in tendons and improves the pullout resistance characteristics of the system. In order to increase the pullout resistance capacity of existing anchor system, the new anchor system is made by attaching four steel sticks to the tip of anchor end. So the field test results showed that the pullout resistance capacity of the wedge-shaped ground anchor was acceptable to elastic displacement range.

  • Environment-friendly materials are increasingly used as building construction materials nowadays, and the market share of those is growing. Accordingly, the research and developments in terms of environmental value are progressing steadily now. The main characteristics of environmental products are far-infrared radiation, negative-ion emission, electromagnetic wave shielding, and antimicrobial property. These products are often used in mortar and as spray on the finishing material. Nevertheless, there are hardly any research on the functional properties of concrete, the main material in construction field. Thus, we evaluated such basic properties of concrete as slump, compressive strength and air content while using such functional materials as sericite, wood-pattern sandstone, carbon black and nano-metric silver solution to focus on their functional properties like far-infrared radiation, negative ion emission, electro magnetic wave shielding, and antimicrobial activity in this research. The results indicated that the most useful material in the functional materials was carbon black. Sericite and nano-metric silver solution had a little effect on the functional property. Moreover, although wood-pattern sandstone had very high functional property, it exhibited too low compressive strength to be applied, to concrete as a factory product. Antimicrobial property of nano-metric silver solution in the concrete was not clear demonstrated, but if these specimens were to be aged in $CO_2$ gas for a long time, it might be apparent.
