A Case Study of the Improvement of the Structural Work of a Logistics Facility by Using PC Member (PC부재에 의한 물류시설의 골조공사 개선사례 연구)

  • As logistics facilities have a high ceiling height, simple structure, and the need for a quick return on investment, it is usually essential to advance the construction schedule of such facilities. Accordingly, PC structures, which require less labor, cost and schedule, can be more competitive than RC structures. However, most construction companies in Korea are familiar with RC structure design, have negative perceptions regarding PC structures, and do not sufficiently adopt new construction techniques. The structure that this research features has 110 columns that are 14 m high and are built to the same specification, and applying an RC design to the structure will lead to issues related to constructibility, economic viability, project duration and safety. Therefore, this study intends to feature PC design as an alternative to the RC warehouse design, and perform a comparative analysis of the reduction in labor, cost and construction schedule to highlight benefits. The research outcomes herein will provide inputs to subsequent studies on new construction strategies to advance the construction schedule, improve quality and constructibility, enhance safety and save costs.

  • This study was performed to propose the minimum thickness of RC slab that satisfies constructibility, fatigue safety, and serviceability requirements such as deflection control. Three different minimum thicknesses are calculated using concrete shear and rebar fatigue formulas, and deflection control, respectively, and checked by constructiblity. The maximum of these three minimum thicknesses is proposed as the minimum thickness of RC slab, which shows that the minimum thickness requirement of RC slab from Korean Bridge Design Code can be thinner than now.

  • In domestic construction industry, now demand for airport facilities, gymnastic facilities, mass meeting facilities, sales facilities is increasing. Because of this, demand for huge space is also increasing. In making huge space, existing PEB(Pre-Engineered Building) and Pipe Truss, As span is lager and larger, steel weight is increasing and hard to apply for large span. For solving this problem, Many program was proposed, and in that Space Frame was rising. But in domestic construction there are very rare practical use for Space Frame. In this study, we wish to introduce Space Frame that has several advantages in construction expense, construction time, constructibility and also with analyzing example for applying Space Frame, wish to investigate characteristic of Space Frame. Go forward better, through comparison of other different old method and basic character of Space Frame, confirm advantage of Space Frame that have infinite development possibility and revitalize the Space Frame in domestic study and further more wish to raise practical use for Space Frame.

  • The rubblization technique is breaking the aged concrete pavement slab into rubblized concrete aggregate, and use it as an base material at its original position, then builds overlay above the rubblized base. This method has been successively used in USA due to the advantage of good constructibility, cost-effectiveness as well as the capability of preventing of reflection cracks. However, constructibility and economic performance of rubblization on typical Korean concrete pavements needed to be investigate since to typical Korean concrete pavements have thick slab, as well include lean concrete subbase course. Multi-head type breaker suitable for Korean condition was designed and developed. This multi-head type breaker was designed to rubblize old concrete to the suggested optimum rubblized-depth and rubblized-concrete-aggregate size to prevent reflection crack and maintain high bearing capacity. This machine was used for the test of rubblization of old concrete pavement on a non-use old concrete and a in-serviced road. In these two tests, engineering properties of rubblized base and constructability and cost were investigated. In both tests, the old concrete rubblized to targeted size and depth, and high-level bearing capacity was achieved. Also, superior constructability and lower cost compared with traditional reconstruction was examined.

  • Ever since the introduction of high strength steel pipe strut(POSTRUT) in 2008, there has been over 50 applications domestically. The merits of construction period reduction and cost savings have been well reported abroad in countries such as America, Europe and China but ever in domestic projects or ground condidtions. 25 actual construction projects were investigated and statistically analyzed to evaluate the quantitative effects of POSTRUT. Also the construction projects along with the cautions that should be taken and the structural behavior differences between POSTRUT and H-section struts are briefly described in this paper.

  • While member sections of concrete structures of nuclear power plant are big, water-cement ratio is small. Consequently, the huge amount of heat generation and high viscosity could be occurred. These might reduce constructibility of nuclear power plant. In order to obtain improved concrete mix proportion on nuclear power plant structures, the properties of normal concrete is compared with self-compacting concrete. In addition, various mixes of self-compacting concrete utilizing polycarboxylic acid based admixture is mutually compared and estimated.

  • Apartments construction is a one of largest parts in buildings construction. In apartments construction, work interferences are frequently occurred in work processing because workspaces are very various and numerous. However, though work process is important for mainly influencing to the schedule, quality and cost of apartments construction, these work interferences are considered a kind of uncertainty, which is difficult to anticipate at construction planning stage, in work processing. Therefore, this study proposed the measures for work interference reduction in apartment buildings construction and the actual planning for practices. The results can be summarized as follows: (1) the standard of work process is checked regularly. (2) The scope of work and work process is adjusted. (3) The standard of drawings process and cost about work interferences work profess is established.

  • Green column and green beam, key structural members of green frame, have the characteristics of post-lintel structure, thanks to the steel frame in the connection, enabling prompt and precise installation. The connection of green frame can be divided into 4 types, depending on its shape, and each type is associated with different characteristics and construction methods. Notably, as the connection between green columns have differing types and sequences of work, subject to the connection method in use, a connection method optimized for relevant site conditions need to be selected. Therefore, this study analyzed pros and cons of 4 different types of green frame connection methods. The results set forth herein will provide basic data for subsequent studies to comparatively analyze the performance and constructibility of different green frame connection methods.

Ductility of Column-Slab eoint in R/C Flat Plate System (플랫 플레이트 구조의 기둥.슬래브 접합부 연성에 관한 연구)

  • The R/C flat plate system provides architectural flexibility, clear space, reduced building height, simple formwork, which consequently enhance constructibility. One of the serious problems in the flat plate system is brittle punching shear failure due to transfer of shear force and unbalanced moments in column-slab joint. Recently, the flat plate system accompanied with shear walls to resist the lateral loads is applied to high-rise buidings. Although the flat plate system is not considered in design as part of the lateral load-resisting system, it is required that this system keeps the ductile behavior for the lateral displacement of the building. However, it is unclear whether the column-slab joint possesses ductility enough to survive the lateral deformation. The objective of this paper is to investigate the major parameters that influence the ductility of R/C flat plate system by examining the existing experiments on column-slab joint. The effects of gravity load and shear reinforcement on the ductility of the flat plate system are presented.

  • Starting from a collection V as a model which satisfies the axioms of NBG, we call the elements of V as sets and the subcollections of V as classes. We reconstruct the G$\ddot{o}$del's proof of the consistency of GCH and AC with the axioms of Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory by using Mostowski-Shepherdson mapping theorem, reflection principles in Tarski-Vaught theorem and Montague-Levy theorem and the fact that NBG is a conservative extension of ZF.
