In this paper, the directional coupler with half-power division is designed and fabricated by using the vertical coupling structure based on the CPW transmission-line. Even-mode and odd-mode of the vertical coupling structure can be analyzed by the conventional CPW-line and the CBCPW-line, respectively, with half thickness of the substrate. The directional coupler is designed by using the tefron substrate with the dielectric constant of 2.55 and the thickness of 0.76mm. Manufactured directional coupler has the center frequency of 2.45 GHz and the bandwidth of 66.1%. Also, the return loss and isolation are 19.52dB and 19.47dB, respectively, at the center frequency.

In this paper, two new circuit structures for European and U.S. ultra-wide band(UWB) bandpass filters(BPFs) with sharp roll-off characteristics are introduced. We show first that the ultra-wide bandpass property is obtained from a $\lambda$/4 open T resonator with a capacitively coupled $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line, which provides two attenuation poles at lower and upper cutoff frequencies. Then, two identical capacitively coupled input/output lines, which can be $\lambda$/4-length open ends or $\lambda$/2-length short ends, with the T-resonator, are adopted to suppress lower and higher frequency components outside of the pass band. There is coupling between the input and output lines providing two additional transmission zeros in the lower and upper transition bands of the filter. Since the coupling between the T-resonator with the $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line and the input/output lines limits the bandwidth of the filter to the European UWB band, both the $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line and the input/output lines are inserted between the two stacked T-resonators for the U.S. UWB band. The filter structures are simulated with ADS and HFSS and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) green tape which has the dielectric constant of 7.8. Measurement results agree well with HFSS simulation results.
In batch cultures of Brevibacterium ketoglutamicum for the L-ornithine production in which the pH and dissolved oxygen concentration were regulated constant, the profiles of redox potential were observed in parallel with the profiles of state variables such as cell, glucose, and ornithine concentrations. It was found that the redox potential had a close relationship with cell concentration and was also affected by ornithine concentration. The effects of ornithine and glucose on redox potential were examined in a separate series of experiments. Based on the experimental results, a correlation of redox potential to glucose, cell and ornithine concentrations has been proposed. The proposed correlation can be used for on-line estimation of ornithine concentration from on-line data of redox potential, glucose concentration, and cell concentration.

Recently, the interest on power quality has been hot issue because the equipments cause voltage disturbance and have become more sensitive to the voltage disturbance. Additionally, the reseach on power electronic equipments applying to the high power has been increased. This paper deals with Line-Interactive Dynamic Voltage Restorer(LIDVR) system using 7-Level H-Bridge inverter, which is one of the solutions to compensate the voltage disturbance and to increase the power of equipments. The LIDVR has the following advantages comparing to the DVR with the series injection transformer. It has the power factor near to unity under the condition of normal source voltage, can compensate the harmonic current of the load and the instant interruption, and has the fast response. First, the construction, the operation mode and algebraic modeling of LIDVR are reviewed. And then the voltage control algorithm is proposed to get the sinusoidal load voltage with constant amplitude. Finally, simulation and experiment results verify the proposed LIDVR system.
A finite element method is employed fer a flow analysis of the melt spinning process of a non-circular fiber, a PET(polyethylene terephthalate) filament. The flow field is divided into two regions of die channel and spin-line. A two dimensional analysis is used for the flow within the die channel and a three dimensional analysis fur the flow along the spin-line. The Newtonian fluid is assumed for the PET melt and material properties are considered to be constant except for the viscosity. Effects of gravitation, air drag force, and surface tension are neglected. Although the spin-line length is 4.5 m only five millimeters from the spinneret are evaluated as the domain of the analysis. Isothermal and non-isothermal cases are studied fer the flow within the die channel. The relationship between the mass flow rate and the pressure gradient is presented for the two cases. Three dimensional flow along the spin-line is obtained by assuming isothermal conditions. It is shown that changes in velocity and cross-sectional shape occur mostly in the region of 1mm from the die exit.
The constrained off-line competitive deletion problem is a simple form of the set manipulation operations problem. It excludes the insertion operation from the off-line competitive deletion problem. An optimal sequential algorithm and a CREW PRAM algorithm which runs $O(log^2nloglogn)$ time using O(n/loglogn) processors were already presented in the literature. In this paper, we present a reconfigurable mesh algorithm for the constrained off-line competitive deletion problem. The proposed algorithm is executed in a constant time on an $n{\times}n$ reconfigurable mesh, and the result is $AT^2$ optimal.
In this paper, transmission lines with low and high characteristic impedance (Z$_{0}$) are fabricated and analyzed. The transmission lines are fabricated on the benzo-cyclo-butene (BCB) films of a low dielectric constant. For the low Z$_{0}$, two types of coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures are fabricated, which include bottom-ground and double-ground type. Measurement shows that Z$_{0}$ values for each CPW type are 7.3 and 9.4$\Omega$, respectively, at a signal line width of 100 #m. Whit the ratio between the spacing of bottom-ground and the signal line with becomes greater than 2.5, the Z$_{0}$ is nearly saturated. In addition, thin film microstrip lines fabricated using the BCB insertion layers show very low Z$_{0}$ of 25.5$\Omega$, and this impedance is ~64 % of the values obtained from the BCB-based CPW structures of the same line width. Measurement result of CPW on BCB layer is 100.5 Ω.s 100.5 Ω.

This paper presents arc/line segments-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) by updating accumulated laser sensor data with a mobile robot moving in an unknown environment. For each scan, the sensor data in the set are stored by a small constant number of parameters that can recover the necessary information contained in the raw data of the group. The arc and line segments are then extracted according to different limit values, but based on the same parameters. If two segments, whether they are homogenous features or not, from two scans are matched successfully, the new segment is extracted from the union set with combined data information obtained by means of summing the equivalent parameters of these two sets, not combining the features directly. The covariance matrixes of the segments are also updated and calculated synchronously employing the same parameters. The experiment results obtained in an irregular indoor environment show the good performance of the proposed method.

If the ambient temperature rises in AC PDP, some of the discharged cells arc turned off because of the addressing failure. Particularly, the addressing failure at the last scan line is more serious than at the first scan line. The failure is accompanied with delay of the address discharge and reduction of total charge involved. In order to compensate this kind of misfiling, the progressively increasing address voltage waveform is used instead of constant one. In this method, we found that the total charge and address time at the last scan line are similar to those of the first line. As a result, we can have stable discharge without misfiring even at the high ambient temperature.

For measurements and analysis of dielectric characteristics of planar slabs of microwave absorbing materials, I have applied a free-space method in the frequency range of 8~14 GHz. The measurement system for free-space method consists of transmit and receive antennas, mode transitions, precision coaxal cables, the network analyzer, and a computer Special Spot-focused horn lens antenna was used to eliminate diffraction effects. Diffraction effects at the edges of the sample are minimized by satisfying the condition for minimum transverse dimension of the plate and the beamwidth of the antennas at the focus. The time-domain gating feature of the network analyzer and the thru, reflect, and line(TRL) calibration technique were used to eliminate the effects of undesirable multiple reflections. The complex coefficients of reflection and transmission, $S_{11}$ and $S_{21}$, of planar samples were measured for standard materials such as Teflon, Rexolite$\textregistered$ 2200. The results were compared with existing measurement method. And I applied a free-space method for measurement to measure dielectric constants of some electromagnetic absorbing materials. Dielectric properties for the same samples were also measured with a 7mm coxial transmission line method for purposes of comparison with the free-space method.
