  • The conventional procedure to verify rule bases are corresponding to the propositional logic-level knowledge representation. Building knowledge bases, in real applications, we utilize the predicate logic-level rules. In this paper, we present a verification algorithm of rule bases using Pr/T nets which represent the predicate logic-level rules naturally.

  • Due to rapid advance of wireless communication technology, demand on data services in mobile environment is gradually increasing. Caching at a mobile client could reduce bandwidth consumption and query response time, and yet a mobile client must maintain cache consistency. It could be efficient for the server to broadcast a periodic cache invalidation report for cache consistency in a cell. In case that long period of disconnection prevents a mobile client from checking validity of its cache based solely on the invalidation report received, the mobile client could request the server to check cache validity. In doing so, some schemes may be more efficient than others depending on the number of available channels and the mobile clients involved. In this paper, we propose new cache consistency schemes, effects, efficient especially (1) when channel capacity is enough to deal with the mobile clients involved or (2) when that is not the case, and evaluate their performance.

  • Purpose: This study intends to set standard for organizing the curriculum of short-term dental technicians and the change of job environment, as well as the knowledge & training, by identifying the importance and actual job performance of dental technicians following job analysis in the university education of Dept. of Dental Laboratory Technology, and furthermore to foster junior executives to cope with modernization and globalization. Methods: The tools used in this study are based on the job analysis of research report suggested by National Health Personnel Licensing Examination Board(Lee Gyu-seon, 2011), and it consists of general characteristic 7 items. Every competence duty was measured through Likert 5 point gauging, and internal consistency through Cronbach's Alpha. The competence importance of entire questionnaire was .984 and its performance was .874, reflecting considerably high level, and in terms of each competence duty, high credibility was proved and high internal consistency was verified with competence importance ranging from the minimum .655 to the maximum .966 and its performance ranging from the minimum .677 to the maximum .993. Results: Competence importance and its performance in each duty on the job analysis of dental technicians were measured. In competence importance in each duty, the highest was "checking design order form"(average, 4.52), followed by "selling dental prosthesis"(average 4.49), "making removable orthodontic appliance"(average, 4.48), "open managing dental laboratory"(average, 4.46) in order. However, "making complete denture" was found the lowest(average, 4.23), with importance of all competence dutys was considerably high level. In the performance of its competence duty, "checking design order form"(average, 4.04) was found to be the most importance competence, followed by "making conservative restoration"(average, 4.00), "making porcelain"(average 3.98), "checking working cast"(average, 3.90) in order. However it was found out that "making fixed orthodontic appliance"(average, 3.12) was the lowest, and the importance of all competence dutys was quite high level. Conclusion: The duties of dental technicians consist of 13 kinds, in total, and it was found out that "checking design order form"(average, 4.52) was the most important in the competence importance and job performance. In particular, it was revealed that there was a great difference between the competence importance and its performance in the order of "selling dental prosthesis", "open managing dental laboratory", "making removable orthodontic appliance", "making CAD/CAM prosthesis", and then "making fixed orthodontic appliance".

  • This study examines the fact-check coverage provided by the SNU fact-check center site(factcheck.snu.ac.kr). A total of 50 articles that were cross-checked by multiple news media organizations were analyzed. The study's variables were topics, types, characteristics, consistency of the news media organizations' judgement, and fact-check sources. This study found that fact-checking coverage was generally focused on presidential or general election candidates or politicians, as well as political topics. The types of fact-checking coverage primarily included factual information, as well as some opinions or interpretations. Fact-check coverage was mainly focused on the facts of the statements themselves, causal relationships, or the timing or target of the comparison criteria. On average, the fact-checking coverage most frequently assigned the judgment 'mostly false, and primarily used interviews of individuals or data from organizations involved in the issue, government data, and experts' statements as the bases for its fact-checking judgements.

  • Objectives : To evaluate the foot indices using dynamic and static checking on healthy adult people. Methods : Foot indices analysis was performed for 46 students. Static checking practiced for Foot Pressure(FP) and Toe Pressure Difference(TPD) and dynamic checking was used for Vertical Axis Angle(VAA). Results : On gender, there was generally no statical significant difference, except RFP(Right Foot Pressure). The RFP of male was bigger than that of female. On age, in addition, there was similar tendency, only RFP had a positive correlation (r=0.35, p<0.05). Comparing foot indices on right and left, we found TPD and VAA had a tendency of pronation on left, but FP had a opposite tendency. On consistency of each foot index, discrepancy between TPD and VAA (39.47%) was lesser than combination of the others. Conclusions : According to foot indices among 46 healthy student, we found out that there is partially correlation between dynamic and static checking. We hope that the data we found will contribute to standardization of podiatry indices which provide medical guidance for cure of foot disease, supporting further podiatry research.

  • The concept of a hyperpresmtation, as an extension of a hypermedia, is the presentation in which time-varying multimedia presentations are dynamically linked together and a hyperlink's context can be changed over time at any time during a continuous presentation. Problems caused by integrating the hyperpresentation into an existing multimedia system which handles a sequential presentation only are, how to describe the hyperprcsentation, how to set up a hyperlink on a continuous media, and how to check the consistency of the synchronized presentations. In this paper. a new synchronization description method for the hyperpresentation and a method for setting a hyper link on a continuous media during" presentation are proposed after havin!; SHrvey of existing methods, The proposed method deals with only the DC value in a stream ut a DCT based compressed data for checking a condition of te link. Finally, the method for checking the consistency of mixed presentations before actual play of the hnlerpresentation is described. Proposed methods are implemented on MuX(Multimedia IO Server) where a sample scenario is tested.

  • Client-server DBMS based on a data-shipping model can exploit e1ient resources effectively by allowing inter-transaction caching. However, inter-transaction caching raises the need of transactional cache consistency maintenancetTCCM protocol. since each client is able to cache a portion of the database dynamically. Deferred locking(DL) is a new detection-based TCCM scheme designed on the basis of a primary copy locking algorithm. In DL, a number of lock ,ujuests and a data shipping request are combined into a single message packet to minimize the communication overhead required for consistency checking. Lsing a simulation model. the performance of the prolxlsed scheme is compared with those of two representative detection based schemes, the adaptive optimistic concurrency control and the caching two-phase locking. The performance results indicate that DL improves the overall system throughput with a reasonable transaction abort ratio over other detection - based schemes.

  • PURPOSES : To ensure appropriate RCC properties with sufficient strength development and workability, it is necessary to secure a proper level of consistency. It is also necessary to secure maximum dry density, which is an important factor for increasing the interaction of aggregate interlocking, leading to an augmentation of RCC strength. On the other hand, the dry density of RCC can be changed owing to the compaction conditions, water content, and particle size distribution. A Proctor test and a modified Proctor test were used for determining the optimum water content needed to achieve maximum dry density with different amounts of compaction energy. A Vebe test, on the other hand, was used for checking the level of consistency, which is important for producing a workable mixture. METHODS : To confirm the degree of compaction at various particle sizes, RCC mixtures with different sand/aggregate ratios were evaluated. The Proctor test and modified Proctor test were applied to these mixtures to check the effect of the aggregate gradation and compaction energy on the maximum dry density and optimum water content. During each test, three specimens were produced for all types of water content under each aggregate gradation. A compaction curve and the optimum water content and maximum dry density for each aggregate gradation were then obtained for both tests. The range of water content for the appropriate consistency of each aggregate gradation was determined through a Vebe test. The optimum water content was then evaluated based on this range. RESULTS : The compaction test results show that the modified Proctor test provides a higher maximum dry density and lower optimum water content compared with the standard Proctor test. For the modified Proctor test, two cases of aggregate gradation (s/a = 30% and 70%) had the optimum water contents outside of the appropriate water content range. For the standard Proctor test, on the other hand, none of aggregate gradations provided the optimum water content within the desired range. CONCLUSIONS : The modified Proctor test should be used for an RCC mixture design because it can provide adequacy between maximum dry density and consistency. Moreover, the compaction roller has become highly developed for higher compaction energy.

  • Product line analysis is an activity for analyzing requirements, their relationships, and constraints in a product line before engineering product line assets (e.g., architectures and components). A feature-oriented commonality and variability analysis (called feature modeling) has been considered an essential part of product line analysis. Commonality and variability analysis, although critical, is not sufficient to develop reusable and adaptable product line assets. Dependencies among features and feature binding time also have significant influences on the design of product line assets. In this paper. we propose a feature-oriented product line analysis model that extends the existing feature model in terms of three aspects (i.e., feature commonality and variability, feature dependency, and feature binding time). To validate the consistency among the three aspects we formally define the feature-oriented product line analysis model and provide rules for checking consistency.

  • We propose a novel post-processing algorithm and its very-large-scale integration architecture that simultaneously uses the passive and active stereo vision information to improve the reliability of the three-dimensional disparity in a hybrid stereo vision system. The proposed architecture consists of four steps - left-right consistency checking, semi-2D hole filling, a tiny adaptive variance checking, and a 2D weighted median filter. The experimental results show that the error rate of the proposed algorithm (5.77%) is less than that of a raw disparity (10.12%) for a real-world camera image having a $1,280{\times}720$ resolution and maximum disparity of 256. Moreover, for the famous Middlebury stereo image sets, the proposed algorithm's error rate (8.30%) is also less than that of the raw disparity (13.7%). The proposed architecture is implemented on a single commercial field-programmable gate array using only 13.01% of slice resources, which achieves a rate of 60 fps for $1,280{\times}720$ stereo images with a disparity range of 256.
