Effect of R-C Compensation on Switching Regulation of CMOS Low Dropout Regulator

  • Miller feedback compensation is introduced in a low dropout regulator (LDO) in order to obtain a capacitor-free regulator and improve the fast transient response. The conventional LDO has a limited bandwidth because of the large-size output capacitor and parasitic gate capacitance in the power MOSFET. In order to obtain a stable frequency response without the output capacitor, LDO is designed with resistor-capacitor (R-C) compensation and this is achieved with a connection between the gain-stage and the power MOS. An R-C compensator is suggested to provide a pole and zero to improve the stability. The proposed LDO is designed with the 0.35 μm CMOS process. Simulation testing shows that the phase margin in the Bode plot indicates a stable response, which is over 100o. In the load regulation, the transient time is within 55 μs when the load current changes from 0.1 to 1 mA.

  • One of the shortcomings of seismic bridge design codes is the lack of clarity in defining the role of different seismic isolation systems with linear or nonlinear behavior in terms of R-factor. For example, based on AASHTO guide specifications for seismic isolation design, R-factor for all substructure elements of isolated bridges should be half of those expressed in the AASHTO standard specifications for highway bridges (i.e., R=3 for single columns and R=5 for multiple column bent) but not less than 1.50. However, no distinction is made between two commonly used types of seismic isolation devices, i.e., elastomeric rubber bearing (ERB) with linear behavior, and lead rubber bearing (LRB) with nonlinear behavior. In this paper, five existing bridges located in Iran with two types of deck-pier connection including ERB and LRB isolators, and two bridge models with monolithic deck-pier connection are developed and their R-factor values are assessed based on the Uang's method. The average R-factors for the bridges with ERB isolators are calculated as 3.89 and 4.91 in the longitudinal and transverse directions, respectively, which are not in consonance with the AASHTO guide specifications for seismic isolation design (i.e., R=3/2=1.5 for the longitudinal direction and R=5/2=2.5 for the transverse direction). This is a clear indicator that the code-prescribed R-factors are conservative for typical bridges with ERB isolators. Also for the bridges with LRB isolators, the average computed R-factors equal 1.652 and 2.232 in the longitudinal and transverse directions, respectively, which are in a good agreement with the code-specified R-factor values. Moreover, in the bridges with monolithic deck-pier connection, the average R-factor in the longitudinal direction is obtained as 2.92 which is close to the specified R-factor in the bridge design codes (i.e., 3), and in the transverse direction is obtained as 2.41 which is about half of the corresponding R-factor value in the specifications (i.e., 5).

  • 본 연구에서는 현장 타설 콘크리트 공법과 같이 연속성을 가질 수 있는 스마트 프리캐스트 일체화 기술을 철도 정거장 토목/건축 구조물 적용성에 구조물의 실제 현장에서 이루어지는 방법과 동일하게 설치 후 철도 기준에 준하는 설계 후 정적/동적 거동 해석을 통해서 최적단면을 도출하며, 기존 동적 센서와 3축 가속도측정 센서를 부착하여 프리캐스트 구조물의 손상 정도에 따른 mode 해석을 비교하여, 프리캐스트 구조물의 안정성에 대한 데이터와 철도 연변에서의 불확실성에 대한 개선과 향후 프리캐스트 구조물의 교체 시기, 손상 위치 등에 대한 기초자료로 활용하기 위함이다.

Distributed parameters modeling for the dynamic stiffness of a spring tube in servo valves

  • The stability and dynamic performance of a flapper-nozzle servo valve depend on several factors, such as the motion of the armature component and the deformation of the spring tube. As the only connection between the armature component and the fixed end, the spring tube plays a decisive role in the dynamic response of the entire system. Aiming at predicting the vibration characteristics of the servo valves to combine them with the control algorithm, an innovative dynamic stiffness based on a distributed parameter model (DPM) is proposed that can reflect the dynamic deformation of the spring tube and a suitable discrete method is applied according to the working condition of the spring tube. With the motion equation derived by DPM, which includes the impact of inertia, damping, and stiffness force, the mathematical model of the spring tube dynamic stiffness is established. Subsequently, a suitable program for this model is confirmed that guarantees the simulation accuracy while controlling the time consumption. Ultimately, the transient response of the spring tube is also evaluated by a finite element method (FEM). The agreement between the simulation results of the two methods shows that dynamic stiffness based on DPM is suitable for predicting the transient response of the spring tube.

  • Probabilistic Risk Assessment considering statistically random variables is performed for the preliminary design of a Arch Bridge. Component reliabilities of girders have been evaluated using the response surfaces of the design variables at the selected critical sections based on the maximum shear and negative moment locations. Response Surface Method(RSM) is successfully applied for reliability analyses for this relatively small probability of failure of the complex structure, which is hard to be obtained by Monte-Carlo Simulations or by First Order Second Moment Method that can not easily calculate the derivative terms of implicit limit state functions. For the analysis of system reliability, parallel resistance system composed of girders is changed into parallel series connection system. The upper and lower probabilities of failure for the structural system have been evaluated and compared with the suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes. The suggested prediction method for the combination of failure modes reveals the unexpected combinations of element failures in significantly reduced time and efforts compared with the previous permutation method or system reliability analysis method.

  • 일반적인 경영활동에서 고객만족은 긍정적인 고객반응에 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 고객반응유도시스템(CRES)은 기존의 고객응대 개념을 확장한 것이다. CRES의 적용은 전자상거래(B2C) 환경에서 고객과 판매자간의 실시간적인 연결을 가능케 하고 이를 기반으로 긍정적인 고객반응을 유도할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 CRES를 적용한 새로운 EC 시스템과 기존의 일반적인 EC 시스템을 비교하여 그 결과를 제시한다.

  • Equations of motion of thin-walled composite H-type cross-section beams exposed to concentrated harmonic and non-harmonic time-dependent external excitations, incorporating a number of nonclassical effects of transverse shear, primary and secondary warping, and anisotropy of constituent materials are derived. The forced vibration response characteristics of a composite H-type cross-section beam exhibiting the circumferentially asymmetric stiffness(CAS) configuration are exploited in connection with the structural bending-torsion coupling resulting from directional properties of fiber reinforced composite materials.

유무선 인터넷 환경에서 TCP와 SCTP의 성능 비교 (Performance Comparison of TCP and SCTP in Wired and Wireless Internet Environment)

  • HTTP는 월드 와이드 웹에서 가장 널리 사용되는 프로토콜의 하나로 신뢰성을 제공하기 위해 전송 계층 프로토콜로 TCP를 사용한다. HTTP는 개별적인 파일 요청에 대해 분리된 TCP 연결을 사용하기 때문에 파일 수신에 있어서 불필요한 오버헤드인 헤드-오브-라인 (head-of-line) 블로킹을 유발시킨다. 웹 응용은 일반적으로 전송되는 크기가 작기 때문에 무선 환경에서는 TCP로 인한 핸드오버의 지연이 증가한다. 이에 비해 최근에 제안된 SCTP(stream control transmission protocol)는 멀티-스트리밍과 멀티-호밍과 같은 매력적인 기능을 갖고 있다. SCTP의 이러한 기능들은 TCP의 헤드-오브-라인 블로킹을 제거하고, 무선 환경에서 TCP의 핸드오버 지연을 줄이는 것으로 기대되고 있다. 평균 응답 시간은 대부분의 웹 응용에 있어서 중요한 측정 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 NS-2 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 유무선 인터넷 환경에서 SCTP와 TCP의 평균 응답 시간을 비교하였다. 이를 위해, 유선 환경에서는 패킷 손실률, 대역폭, RTT(Round Trip Time) 및 웹 객체의 개수의 변화에 따른 평균 응답 시간이 비교되었고, 무선 환경에서는 이동속도 및 반경의 크기에 따른 평균 응답 시간과 패킷 손실률이 비교되었다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 SCTP가 TCP의 평균 응답 시간을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다.

오염물질 확산방지를 위한 토목섬유 연직차수벽 연결부의 투수성능 평가 (Permeability Characteristics of Geosynthetics Vertical Barrier Connections for the Prevention of Contaminants Diffusion)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구에서는 토목섬유 연직차수시스템에 사용되는 팽창 지수재를 사용하여 지수재의 팽창에 따른 차수성능을 평가하였다. 연구방법: 토목섬유 연직차수 공법 적용시 연결부에 대한 투수능을 판단하기 위하여 ASTM D5887과 ASTM D6766을 준용하였다. 팽창 지수재를 각 용액에 포화시킨 후 시간경과에 따른 무게, 두께, 부피 변화를 분석하였으며, 토목섬유 연직차수벽 연결부에 팽창지수재를 설치하여 투수 특성을 평가하였다. 연구결과: 염수조건에서 지수재의 팽창반응 시간이 상대적으로 늘어남에 따라 투수능의 저하도 담수에서 보다 작은 감소폭을 나타내었다. 또한 토목섬유 연직차수재료의 결속 방법에 따라 롤 이음방식이 인터록 방식 보다 수두차에 의한 압력저항이 커서 차수성능이 다소 우수하게 나타났다. 결론: 주유소, 유류저장시설 및 산업단지 등 오염물의 유출을 추정할 수 있는 도심지 오염원에서는 오염물질 확산을 방지할 수 있는 사전대응 기술이 피해규모를 현격하게 감소시킬 수 있다.
